👏Bravo! Two thumbs up! 👍👍 Fiddlerman, you continue to prove my point that the violin can sound exemplary with "feeling, phrasing, vibrato and all that good stuff" when played only in the first position. People ask me why I play the violin only in the first position. Because all the other positions is an overkill. You demonstrate that fact time and time again. 😊🎻🎵
YESSS!!! finally! I am going to give it a try! Huge fan of fiddlerman and fiddlershop. I wish you guys have the brand store here so I can get the bow. But, challenge accepted! Thanks for doing this again Fiddlerman!
I simply loved the way you explain to get the the real effect please do some more simple songs like this and don't forget to explain like the way you did for this
Going out with style: As our infected Ship-Of-State slowly slinks into the warming sea, thank you for what I have found to be the best presentation of a beginners "Amazing Grace". Please keep up the good work. -- Just kidding - we are survivors.!
I've been trying to play without a shoulder rest and was getting frustrated because I cant keep the violin in place. I don't want to have all that paraphernalia on my violin. I want to pick up the violin and just play it. This video just solved my no shoulder rest issue I have been having. I was watching this video where that light bulb moment came on. I saw how you're not holding the violin in the "classical way" but higher up on the shoulder but at a stepper vertical angle where it looks like you're laying your cheek on the chinrest like a pillow. I don't know if that's your intent or just the way the camera angle is. I tried it and holy crap! It felt so ergonomically right and comfortable! My violin doesn't slip anymore . It holds right in place just by the weight of my head resting on the chin rest. Bow lines up perfect. No strain on the neck, no clamping down. Arms and shoulders totally relaxed. I swear I could sleep standing up playing like this and no worries of the violin falling off. Now I have to re -watch all your video's again and see what I may have missed and maybe "steal" some more of your playing techniques to help me with mine . Thank you!!!!!
You are very welcome. Balance has a lot to do with it. Not having the need to squeeze is good too. And yes, the contact that I have is more jaw bone than chin. I don't even know why they call it a chinrest instead of a jaw rest. :) I'm very happy that this video helped you. Thanks so much for both watching and letting me know.
Wow what a great teacher! If you are learning to play fiddle you should definitely subscribe to his videos! Your tune a week videos inspired me to make my own! I'm so glad I came across you on youtube!! Great stuff man!!
Be brave, I promise that you won't regret it. I don't care how anyone sounds. I separate the audio from the video and mix all the audios together. With many parts it sounds fine. Then I mix the video. I have no expectations and have never reacted negatively towards anyones videos. Do it!!!! 😁
@@1stfiddlerman Yes I did. Glad I got it. It is super. My partner was a bit dismayed by the sounds of strings breaking in. It is now making me sound better than I have ever sounded. Thank you. Customer service told me which strings I got. Had to ask because they are perfect.
Can any level participate? I'm 56 years old and I have been taking classes for Just over 1 and half years. I don't sound that good and I don't even play with vibrato yet just would need to practice the tempo with a metronome. At what speed is it on the metronome? If I get to sound decent and at tempo I"d probably submit a video.
@Abelardo Campana - hello fiddler-friend !!! Hey - no - using a metronome is not a good idea, that is the very reason the tempo is NOT shown on the score - you MUST rely on the click track - that is one of the very few ways we can guarantee that everyone is in time. If you "guess" the tempo, or use some other timing reference, it may well be "OK" to start with, but after one or two minutes, by the end of the piece, you'll maybe finish early or late - and your submission cannot be used !!! Check out my answer to a similar question on the forum - and - please - JOIN IN !!!! fiddlerman.com/forum/amazing-grace-group-project/fiddlerman-group-project-amazing-grace/#p106990
Abelardo, or course you can participate. Have a special look at the Violin 5 part, which is super easy. Use a metronome to practice if you like, as well as the instructional video for Vln 5 by all means, but when you submit a video to me, please use the background track found on the project page, otherwise it won't match. The tempo for practice only is 76BPM. See this link for more information: fiddlerman.com/2020/03/fiddlerman-group-project-amazing-grace/
I'm a violist... I think it's interesting how when you do vibrato you will pull your wrist out to the right so vibrato will be easier... That is how it is with me, being a violist with a bigger instrument... You're good... But your vibrato is very very fast which isn't my preference, unless that is how it's supposed to be with a fiddler
Wunderschön! So möchte ich auch spielen und Gott die Ehre geben!
Vielen Dank!

nice one sir... thanks for this turorial video..but it is notated in 3/4 timing but sounds like 4/4 🤔🤔...
True. So if you count, 1,2,3 1,2,3 on and on as you play, it will feel more like 3/4. Of course the pick-up is on 3. 😁
Thanks for watching.

I like slower vibrato on lower notes and when playing the viola.
