I, too, accidentally came across one of those creature fighting videos, it was a camel spider and a scorpion. I don't particularly enjoy those specific creatures (say as much as tarantulas) but it literally made me sick watching just a bit of it. And the poster had the nerve to say "this is purely for educational purposes" in the description when it was clearly for sick entertainment! That live eating one sounds beyond awful. I feel for every type of living creature out there, they don't deserve any of that. I completely agree, they should be banned.
i saw one once that pitted a camel spider against a *whip* scorpion, and tons of people in the comments were accusing the person filming of pre-injuring or somehow drugging the camel spider so that the whip scorpion would win. which really gives me the impression that there's a whole deep community around that kind of content that could potentially be an entire rabbit hole, if *rigging the fights* is a legitimate thing that is done. truly a wild section of the internet

What always astounds me is the lack of animal cruelty and mistreatment policies that goes unflagged on social media circles. Its pretty sickening people would find these kinds of videos entertaining. BTW, I love Spidey's new enclosure!!

The one where the woman is eating live Tarantulas you can see their fangs have been pulled out. They are truly defenseless. It's beyond sick & cruel.

These videos have been going around for a while now and it is terrible YT allow them. I have reported these videos numerous times but YT never remove them. If it was 2 dogs fighting in a ring it goes against YT's terms of service. So why is it ok for these videos?

Incidentally, I was in Cambodia years ago, and on the sides of the red dirt roads there were vendors selling deep fried tarantulas for 25 cents. I was all set. Knowing what I know now, I can’t imagine how they managed to capture old worlds so readily without getting bitten!

I have complained constantly to the youtube gurus with no luck at all...I don't watch any fighting videos, I report them.
The fact that someone film themselves eating tarantulas for likes is sick, and I hope it makes them so, apart from when I watched the rainforest tribes gathering tarantulas to eat, I completely accept that.
Any videos of animal on animal fights, or birds or invertebrates are horrifying...
But alas it seems youtube is OK with it...thanQ for the video, I've just subscribed so love from Inverness 🏴

Yes, it’s ridiculous. I’ve seen thumbnails of videos where they’ll have a black widow vs a brown recluse, etc. It’s so sad. They’ll even have multiple species in a small container. Like a scorpion, centipede, wolf spider, and a tarantula. Just scenarios like that. It’s disgusting!!

I completely agree with you 💯. This is not acceptable in any way. And although I haven't come across the second one l myself could not watch it either. It's very sad that this kind of content even exists let alone the fact that it has an audience. This is really upsetting. I’ve heard people use “it’s just in nature” as a way to excuse malicious human behavior as an apex trait. To them, I’s like to say- Humans evolved to have the literal brain mass and connectivity that drives empathy, an amazing manifestation of intelligence. The people who abuse animals, from Ts to other humans, are inhuman and unnatural. That being said, I agree, survival and food are not abuse. I’m not a vegan or vegetarian in large part bc I have a metabolic syndrome that would make it dangerous.
Also, I think you were smiling bc Spidey just makes you smile! She def made me smile even though I knew I was about to get really ticked off ❤

I, too, agree this is despicable. Again, used in traditional manners such as delicacies is understandable, but using them as a a toy is heartbreaking. It is animal abuse so few know about..

I am coming to you with a question! Earlier today, my 3” Mexican red knee, who is in premolt (hasn’t eaten in a month, bare butt, etc.), buried herself in the substrate, and when I found her on the side of the glass, she was so scrunched up I thought she was suffocating. So of course l stupidly dug her out, only to see she was fine, if lethargic, and I actually guided her back down in the hole. She seems fine, but I’m afraid I may have disrupted something? I see no web mat. She’ll be okay, yes? I know now, after dumbly reading up on it after the fact, that I was completely stupid to do this. I just can’t find any info on the implications of making such a mistake.

Yes, it is cruel and makes me sad. I don't want to see any of it and hope that is does not get the attention the uploaders are aiming at. Eating a tarantula alive? 😱😓Oh my gosh. Is that even possible? What about the urticating hairs, e.g.?

I’ve also seen thumbnails on these but don’t watch, I just think those people are after attention/likes, also giving live mice/rats to there Ts isn’t necessary for the tarantulas it’s all for likes, it astounds me how sad people are for not only making them but those who watch them, then there’s the bad handling of tarantulas, its not clever and is totally unacceptable behaviour within our hobby and social media, rant over 🫶
