I’m so thankful that God had me to see this from me seeing your IG clip this morning from yesterday on how important it is to have boundaries for myself and in life in general. It’s been a struggle for me for years, but I’m determined right now with God’s help that I will write down my boundaries this morning, and stick to them for me to live the life He has called me to live and to stop being mistreated by my toxic relatives.
Jazmin Elise yeah the relatives are the worst! I suffered for so long after I stopped contact i finally got peace of mind. these people nearly drove me insane, sorry I have to take care of my health. these people include my brother, mother and toxic aunt.
I know this is an old post, but I just couldn't resist to add my situation. My mother is a narcissist and has abused me my whole life. I'm 55 and she's 74 and just recently physically attacked me in front of my 13 year old daughter. I'm trying to cut all toxic people from my life, including family and my husband of 30 years. He just keeps cheating on me and I'm just done with it all

But, you are right about setting boundaries & getting to bed early is wise.

In a sense, what it mirrors is the story of Moses, the Pharaoh, and the ten plagues. The story basically goes the Pharaoh of Egypt has been mistreating the Israelites.
And so Moses goes up to the Pharaoh and says, "stop mistreating the Israelites. Let my people go". Which is a boundary. If we rephrase it in a more conventional way, we could say, "I will not accept mistreatment of the Israelites". And of course, it's not like the Pharaoh says, "Ok sure. No more mistreatment. Because you set a boundary, I'm definitely going to follow that.". He was like "no way. In your dreams man. I am not letting your people go. Screw your boundaries".
So what does Moses do? He enforces the boundaries through consequences, and that's the second half of the formula. First you set the boundary, then you enforce the boundary. Or in other words, you first TELL them what the boundary is (that's the setting), then you show them you're serious (that's the enforcing).
And so how does Moses does this, the ten plagues. Then consequences which get progressively worse. So first Moses turns the rivers to blood, and all the fish die. That's the first plague. But then the Pharaoh's magicians do the same thing; they also turn blood to water. So the pharaoh says, "no big deal. THis isn't a serious consequence".So MOses goes to the next thing. He covers the entirety of Egypt in frogs. So frogs in the rivers, frogs in the bedroom, frogs in the oven. And this time, the Pharaoh gets a little bit scared, and he goes "okay okay. I swear I'm gonna change. which is a line we've heard in every relatioship. I swear I;m gonna change. Just take these frogs away". And so MOses takes the frogs away, and naturally Pharaoh just goes back to his old ways.
