    Use a cheap mono backing or it’s gonna slip. You only need to spoil enough to cover the spool and then you can use a double uni knot to connect your braid and then it’s good to go!

    • @aidenp7232
      @aidenp7232 Рік тому +1

      It’s not going to slip. Have you ever used braid before? If you have you’d know that this simply weakens the braid

    • @wesleypipesgaming19
      @wesleypipesgaming19 Рік тому +3

      @aidenp7232 This isn't correct. If you put braided line right onto your spinning reel, you could risk get spooled and wasting money, but a base of standard monofilament line can stop that.
      Here’s why you should put mono backing on your spinning reel when using braided line:
      Reason #1: Braided line has the tendency to free-spin on a spool.
      Braid is so slick and thin that if you get a big fish on, your entire spool of braid might start spinning freely.
      You’ll know this is happening to you if you notice line peeling off your reel, but even when you tighten down your drag all the way it still doesn’t stop the fish.
      Monofilament, on the other hand, grips into the arbor (the center of the spool) and will not freely spin.
      Monofilament acts as a cheap filler.
      Braid is expensive, and most reels need a few hundred yards of line to properly fill them.
      Most braided lines come in 150-yd spools, which won’t fill a 3000 series reel, so 100-150 yards of mono backing will help fill it.
      If you don’t fill your reel with line, you’ll lose a lot of casting distance because the gap between the top of the spool and the line will cause friction as it’s leaving the reel.
      Now, have YOU ever used braided line before? 😂

    • @Kakashiseye
      @Kakashiseye Рік тому

      @@coltonhale7070 you’re right if you put enough tape it will work but the reason mono or something like that is better is because it allows you to spool your line evenly. It’s impossible to get a flat base with tape man.

    😭😭I've been using this trash method for so long bc I didn't know any real knots but a real knot would work so much better here. It's not all that likely but if you don't max out your spool then it's very possible you could have a big fish pull your line all the way to the end and that trash knot will snap so easily. Loosing your ENTIRE line. And they always spin on the spool for me regardless. Wrap the entire spool in a good layer of electrical tape all the way around it and tie something like a San diago jam and have that knot tight and strong. If you ever end up at the knot you'll never have issues reeling in and the knot will be as strong as the knot on your hook. Better peace of mind. And the electrical tape keeps bigger fish from spinning the braid around the reel spool while you're trying to reeling in.

    Sorry but this is a crummy way to put braid on any real first overtime, the braid will loosen and start to slip on the spool regardless of how much tape you put on it, and putting tape on a low mass spool is a bad idea because it adds weight to the spool and kind of defeats the purpose always put a little backing of mono or Floro to keep the braid from spinning on your spool. If you have holes in your school that allow you to pass the breakthrough from one hole to another to tie on your overhand knot that's totally acceptable.
