nice job I would have removed enough so there was a finger choil that's the only thing you don't want to cut your finger and the smell of blood get out for the zombies
Awesome sword! I like the spear point and the full tang knife style handle. You basically made a very short Messer. You forgot the crossguard though. I think it should have been made with a longer blade, a longer handle, and a crossguard. You have real talent. I subscribed. Keep up the good work.
Yes I understand that it take time to make Quality knives I am on month 2 of my bowie fighter I have Respect for you and you're videos just wanted to make a humble opinion thank you
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, brother. Totally dig the aesthetics of that forged finish. Probably much quicker for you than grinding the whole thing to a mirror finish anyway! But it’s kind of ridiculous to spend all that time forging it and then spend much more time making the thing look like it was spit out of a machine in a factory. Especially when leaving the hammer marks and scale has no effect on the function of the blade, but makes it look SO much better. Might have some zombies walking by any day now. Better sharpen that bad boy up.
Looks good it's a short blade easily stored and hidden and with practice you could use it effectively just go for the neck and limbs you will probably f up that short swords by going for the head.
@@zombiejoe13 then I think it will be fine then dude. I'm no sword expert but anyone with intelligence should be able to say what a good blade should be and if it's worthy of use or not.
I think you could use a new saw blade or possibly sharpen the saw blade you have this tutorials on UA-cam on how to sharpen the saw blade because that saw blade you should not smoke when you're cutting wood with a saw blade that's Sharp you were smoking awfully badly so your saw blade is dull you need a need to replace it or have it sharpened you probably can sharpen it yourself just go on UA-cam and get the watch the de Torreon how to sharpen it it's not that hard you just need to file and advise and you can do it
@@zombiejoe13 I see. I restored a really old machete (I think its maby 30 to 40 years old) with sand paper and some rust removal scrubbing substance I cant remember the name of. I basically shaped it back to its original straight shape by heating it up with just a normal firewood stack and hammered it back to shape with a normal hammer. Came out perfectly XD
@@theprosaicgamer5463 I dont want to rain on your parade, but you don't want to ruin your temper on the blade. I would get it back to nonmagnetic temp, quench, then do differential tempering. Not that im an expert, but I would at least try it and see how it turned out. Thats the fun of learning haha
If I were in a dojo and starting weapons training, I would ask my sensei if when I start sword practice, may I use this sword. Beautiful piece, sir. Excellent.
@@zombiejoe13 hit up a local restaurant. You may be able to get it for free. One downside to it is it solidifies in the winter. But it melts easy with some scrap steel heated up.
No need, they just make my hands cramp while forging. The tongs keep the heat away from my hands. Besides, joint damage caused by swinging a hammer all day with gloves on is a much bigger threat than a small burn on my hand.
It's sharp enough to shave hair, so I would say it was more user error since my sword wielding skills are very amateur rather than the blade not being sharp enough.
Really awesome work! I love that you made that bad ass sword with minimal expensive equipment
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
"That's not a knife..."
Pulls out this sword.
"Now this is a knife!"
looks like a messer (knive in german)
bruh it was under the scabbard video the whole time
Fine sword and great Blacksmith skills
Keep forging blades that large and you will need a bbq for your tempering. Great looking blade sir.
yello4banga zuki thanks! I think I’m gonna stick with smaller blades. This big sword was a pain lol
@@zombiejoe13 I'm yet to build one this big purely because of the time and effort, but enjoy making smaller ones.

I actually forged it with a longer blade but it felt way too blade heavy so I cut it shorter. Also, I was going for a design without a guard.
Very nice sword and you are very skilled
Awesome sword, may it fell many a zombie.

Finally a bolted down buffing wheel.
Very nice! You are Pre Post apocalyptic ready.

Yea, I’ve always loved a hammer forged finish on my blades. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Try to make it a katana
Awesome sword
That would be a great Rouge's sword for D&D
Sure but it’s definitely not a prop. “It will keeeeellll”
Well done
fine craftsmanship
Thanks!

It's quite a thick blade so I have no worries about the overall strength.

4:38 what is the name of that liquid
THE G.O.A.T it’s just regular windex.
Like the file work on the handle
Airborne Mike thank you, it’s a new pattern I was trying. Inspired by KHDaily knives on Instagram
Looks like a pointy orc sword
Yea, it’s definitely got some orcish flare to it
@@zombiejoe13 other than that I like your videos
Thank you :)
As I was watching the handle being shaped I knew that is was going to sweet
Cool build. Very practical and efficient zombie slaying tool..
I wish i had the equipment to be able to do these kinds of things
When I started out I had basically nothing. I just made/accumulated all my tools over time.

Use peanut oil..you can fry stuff in it than filter it out and use it for heat treat. My blades smell like french fries, onion rings, or shrimp...
I usually use vegetable oil, but I didn’t have enough to quench a blade this large
@@zombiejoe13 hit up a local restaurant. You may be able to get it for free. One downside to it is it solidifies in the winter. But it melts easy with some scrap steel heated up.
I prefer vegetable oil because it has a higher flash point
Also sweet build Soggy.
No I lost 1st comment rights (there spelled Correctly) Suggestion for the next video boot knife
my last video is kind of a boot knife. You might like that one if you haven’t seen it already.
No I let first comment rings thank for a new video
Thanks for watching. I try to upload as much as I can but these knives a long time to make lol.
If I was you I would wear some welding gloves

Hell's forge, I agree
What are the sword's dimensions? Blade length, blade thickness, blade width, total length?
Blade length - 20 1/4” overall - 29 1/4” blade width - 1 1/4” blade thickness- tapers from 1/4” to almost 1/8”
Thanks! I’m working on forging a sword myself during the lockdown
This was definitely my most labor intensive project so far so be prepared for a lot of work lol
