It says "discarded". The reason for the discard does not matter, otherwise it would say so. Like at end of turn, it doesn't say to discard the played cards. It says place all the cards in the discard pile. Terminology matters. Do exactly what it says unless they give official clarification in the rules. In fact, if you are told to reveal a card of your deck and discard it for some reason, it is still considered a discard, because it calls it a discard, and therefore triggers discard effects.
The size of the Hogwarts deck does bother me too. I’ve contemplated doing an analysis on removal of specific cards as the deck size progresses. But I’d only put myself thru that if my casual gaming friends want to play it more. But I shouldn’t need to act as a game designer for a published game!
Why is he so salty? Is it so bad to play it through to the end? Especially due to the fact its a first time try. He even explainsd why it could be helpful, and still got hissy with it
An additional thought I had, is that the game is advertised as 2-4 players but the rules and progression of game play is defaulting to the highest denominator (4 players). Since there is no separation of "2 player mode, do this" or "3-4 player mode, do this", the increase of cards put 2 player mode in a rougher spot. One suggestion I thought about was perhaps breaking down the "library of Alexandria" and perhaps halving all duplicated cards and testing this out (both Dark Arts cards & Hogwarts Market cards). Not sure how impactful or "cheating that would be". Might not make much of a difference at all.
One basic strategy is to keep villians and encounters that aren't too harmful on the board as long as possible. In Box 1 the first encounter is manageable (even nullified if you keep your health up.) This allows you to focus on the bigger threats. My vote on value comparison is control removal > draw > attack > house dice > health > banish > influence. Lastly the first expansion added a lot of difficulty because the sentiment overall on the base game is that it was too easy. As a result they overcorrected with expansion 1. The second expansion helps bring the difficulty back down by adding more power for the heroes.
Been loving the playthrough, nice to watch a simpler game but with strategy too. For a family/first deckbuilder it's great, and I enjoyed it when I played it. Just had to point some blaring issues I have with it during the stream because it's important to point out weaknesses in a game. Ultimately I think the positives make the game still plenty enjoyable
One thing I'm not sure is clear on the rules is not playing a card and how that card is treated based on being discarded. For example, Gilderoy Lockhart. If you simply choose not to play this card and end your turn, don't you have to discard that card thus triggering his discard effect and then drawing your 5 cards making that 6? Is the expectation that you have to play every card?
Just finished the stream. Serenity Now Rob! Put us through the ringer on this one with emotion. It’s a USAopoly Harry Potter game man! 😂fortunately I’ve watched you long enough to know that you will be laughing about it in the end.

LMAO, eternally optimistic Mel at 2:29:02, “I mean, it is doable.”

💯 Agree!
You are supposed to skip your turn to do the board wipe in the market
Well, thank you for playing this game. It has showed me clearly that the game sucks like a vacuum cleaner in space
There is no point in steaming game play throughs if you are going to be salty about losing. It is just a game, so learn to be a good sport.

As I mentioned before, streamline the market deck by removing duplicates or keep it to no more than one copy

I loved every minute of my emotional rollercoaster on this one. Looking forward to more! 😎
@@RobsGamingTable Not gonna lie. I’m kinda scared.
3:19:21 you added 3 attacks and didn’t use Ron’s heal ability
You used your event power not ron’s
