I run UE & DD at the same time. Pausing one when you get an order on the other is the way to go. I tried to take multiples off both at the same time and although it can be done, I feel like the experience for the customer drops. Their food gets cold, they have to wait longer than they should. Just don't do it, it's not fair to the customer.

Bahaha I was screaming at my phone today trying to use multiple apps at once. I kept accepting orders without being able to view them to decide first because the apps were layered over each other in weird spots. My conclusion is that, while I got all the orders in on time, having two navigation apps yelling conflicting info at me was a big nope 🤣🤣 I'm clearly doing this wrong and glad to see a better way.

When speaking about dealing with multiple orders on multiple apps simultaneously, that is a technique that I call double-shifting. It is an extremely risky, but exceptionally rewarding technique when mastered. As a disclaimer, getting this right so that all of the customers and apps are completely satisfied is incredibly difficult and I wouldn't recommend it to any driver who is not able to compute distances manually, predict wait times at merchants to within 5 minutes over 95% of the time, and know enough about the road layouts of your market to be able to optimize out most delays.

The problem is that many restaurants are unable to serve meals on time, wasting a lot of time, and stacking orders is sometimes forced. Because we don't have a basic salary, we can only make a few more orders in a limited time. If every restaurant can serve meals on time, then stacking orders will be meaningless, and stacking orders is also very tiring.

@@SB-oy4xx I'm sorry to say, but Mike is not correct in his method for multi-apping if your goal is to consistently be in the top 1 percent of earners in your delivery market. I know for a fact, many (if not most) drivers either don't have the aptitude and mental agility to multi-app in the most optimal way, or they have the requisite ability but they want their work day to be easy breezy & super laid back.
For most drivers, Mike's method will work out fine. For the highest paid food delivery drivers across the entire country, like myself, we do the exact opposite of what he teaches. We literally never pause the apps. We selectively and strategically take orders from 2 or even 3 apps simultaneously and work out the logistics so that deliveries are on time or early the vast majority of times. We prefer not to for obvious reasons, but if our delivery wisdom and data add up, we'll take orders going in opposite directions on multiple apps at once. We pick-up orders from 4 different restaurants, going to 4 different customers on 2 or 3 apps simultaneously. We're running our apps on 2 or more phones to help us to manage all of the order alerts, notifications, customer communications and last but not least, the delivery logistics. We create our own hacks, for lack of a better term, within each app to squeeze every last dollar per hour possible. We take lots of risks so we can make lots of mistakes, know how far we can push and train ourselves to handle and maximize earnings during times of high order volumes.
If everyone ran this business like I do, low paying offers would largely disappear. That will never happen, so it's a gradual race to the bottom for driver compensation in the form of base pay, peak/surge pay and bonuses. I only forecast the direction tip amounts will go in my own market, but I can generalize in saying that if you're in a market that is fairly mature, tip averages should remain mostly flat if not down a little in the short-term.
A couple long-term variables in a specific market include:
      1. An apps ability to successfully recruit new drivers (who have poorer strategies and lack market knowledge. This helps the house, AKA: DD, GH, UE, PM and the customer's win by allowing them to compensate less for the work/time/miles) on a continuous basis.
      2. The number of veteran drivers available who still suck at this game and allow the apps and customers to screw them (and thus all drivers in the market) over.
Given enough time and without any outside intervention, the apps and customers will eventually win in a market when the majority of low value offers can be matched with a driver in whatever time frame the app deems a reasonable amount of time. Then Game, Set, Match... that market is toast and likely not even worth your time unless you're fine making a few bucks here and there working very few hours.
I'm going to stop here because I can write books on this stuff lol. For anyone who read this far or skimmed down to the bottom and is wondering why they should give a crap about what I say or worry that taking the path to exceptionalism will only get them deactivated from an app, this year so far I've done over 4,500 deliveries.
On Doordash during the entire shutdown while multi-apping through crazy high periods of volume and more often than not working all day, every day, I maintained a 4.84 or better customer rating. Now that peak pay and order volume is dropping, I currently have a 5.0 customer rating.
I consistently averaged $55-65 per hour. Would have been even higher ($80-100+ per hour) during the highest peak but I was still learning and creating hacks; I did my first delivery only a few days before New Year 2020. I forecast earnings averages to improve during the Fall & Winter, but my averages for working long semi-all-day style shifts right now is only $30-50 per hour. Yes, it's a very wide range as app contributions to compensation and order volume and quality on all the apps has become very volatile and inconsistent. Feel free to comment and ask questions.
Posting this again outside of this thread so it reaches more of the right people who this may help.

@@YourDriverMike why are you so worried about the customer knowing you're multi-apping? Just get their food there close to their ETA and you're good. The handful or so times someone has actually said something to me out of thousands of deliveries, I shut them down in ten seconds. I kindly explain to them that in the delivery business, just like ordering from a pizza place, we'll have more than one order to deliver, or whatever I say based on their concern. They don't all know for sure that we're running more than one app and who cares if they do; we're independent contractors. Keep} in mind, the customer and driver apps constantly glitch, so the customer will chalk it up to that if you know what to say and how to talk to them, which is a teachable skill.

Hey does anyone notice when driving for uber eats they get a ping for lets say 15.00 but when the run is over they on only get paid like half of that amount

Uber seems sketch to me sometimes. (Expected tip) so not a guaranteed tip but it’ll show that your getting tipped when your not. There are times where I got my tip 5 days later and it was a $2 tip on a $7 order but when I accepted it said $13

I drive for door dash and postmaster in downtown San Diego, didn't Uber eats buy out postulates? When does it go into effect and do you know what it means for a postulates driver if I don't drive for Uber eats?

@Firas Kalaji its good but also lately its being very saturated tbh. I can tell, I am a picky order driver. My acceptance rate is trash lol but everything else great. I do grub hub and door dash though not just one. I reccomend doing more than one especially now

    • @markaldapa6560

@Firas Kalaji there is a lot of low ball orders and too many drivers at times. And some people are bad tippers. I got a couple of orders yesterday that were late when I barely got them lol. I made 200 subtracting gas yesterday. It was alright, that's mainly grubhub and some door dash

    • @YourDriverMike

Hi Thomas, nice to see another SD driver. Uber stated for drivers we will see some 'integrations' with both apps while customers will still see each app operating independently of each other. So basically I'm assuming we'll be able to pick up for either app.

    • @markaldapa6560

@Firas Kalaji I'm either partially la, whittier and the oc areas. Not many big boosts unless I drive farther away from where I live. It can be hit or miss at times. I also got a grubhub extra money boost for doing 5 deliveries and having 80 percent over the weekend. I believe I did around 8 that day. But some of it was waiting and etc, and it slow down a bit. 7 with a break too so I can eat and etc.

@Firas Kalaji I haven't driven much the past two months recently tbh , just here & there after work. If I get a anything good or get me closer home. Just be doing other things and was feeling the vibe different. I do need to get back in routine though.

Hi everyone I'm new but yesterday night(Saturday) I decided to End Dash then Dash Now every time DD took me out of zone. I worked 4 different zones 5 switches total. It was fun but more of a learning experience than anything else. Any one else try this? or have good suggestions to maximize being thrown around zones?

It sounds like you're in the learning stage and it is a great idea to test, test, test so you learn your market like the back of your hand. That being said, once you know where you want to work, it is best to deliver in as tight a radius around that spot as you can.

The ability to Dash Now at anytime in any zone is the carrot they dangle in front of us to encourage us to have high acceptance rates and complete all those low value offers for a net huge loss in dollar per hour potential. Top Dasher = DoorDash Simp lol.

    • @markppc9991
      @markppc9991 3 роки тому

They also do that to limit the number of drivers in a particular zone to maximize delivery coverage and not piss us all off because we get 1 order per hour in a busy zone everyone wants to work in. It can also have the effect of discouraging those armchair and commute drivers from taking too many orders away from drivers who get it done day in and day out for them. I know it's hard to believe sometimes but they actually do want to retain drivers despite their numerous actions which do us no favors.

I live in the south. Down here, Doordash is king. Very few people use anything else. In fact, doordash is so popular, that because you can take the red card and grocery shop for people, InstaCart is nonexistent. I tried to get on with Instacart and was told they weren't hiring drivers in my area.

  • @jamman7344

In California usually people would go with Uber for ordering but I know 100% that doordash has a lot more customers and they pay more every time I get on an Uber the bonuses were usually like a dollar or something but on doordash it's adding $2 $3 or even $5 extra In some areas I've never seen that on Uber eats personally from my experiences. The best thing to do with Uber eats is to get the $1000 bonus or however much they're offering I know it was over a 1000 almost $2000 get that and then stop using the app and then switch to doordash 100% or another app at the same time. But he is right about which app might be more popular because that's what I did as well I met a guy here that taught me how to do this and and it really does help I was making $90 to $100 an hour. However I can do the same with doordash.

Whatever's best is whatever has the best quality in your area.. A lot of people like to go with Uber eats but it's not the best route and it's unfortunate that Uber has picked up postmates because now people who were on postmates to deal with Uber b******* I don't recommend either of those apps unless your only using Uber. Uber overall has so many Problems they are very strict and the customers are always impatient. Personally I got away from my other job because I had deal with rude customers all the time and when I got Uber eats I was dealing with that all over again and honestly I'm really glad I got banned because I couldn't deal with that I always have to talk to customers and help them feel better about their day... I don't know something was just always going on! with somebody a little girl Even ordered food to her high school and her high school didn't accept drop off and she had asked me to wait but school was gonna be out after an hour and I had another order to deliver so I was left with no choice to leave it there and she gave me a bad score. When I reported this to Uber they did nothing about it. If this thing was happening with doordash they would instantly remove it from your score. Doordash might have some hiccups but I can tell you right now they are the most fair app to download.
