(I know you comment is from 3 years ago but I want to reply ! ) Yes I like his character so much he was cool and cute at the same time. What I liked about this drama is how Yun Lan is always cheerful/quirky when in fact he is quite sad deep down...You can feel it in some serious scenes for example when he was confronting Zhu Hong about her feeling for him it was the worst to him because he just does not like to give people sadness, you can see that he loves to please otheir (for example when he could not say "no" when villagers asked him to take another glass of alcool despite the fact he was in pain ). Shen Wei was like his safe belt making realize that sometimes he just need to step back and that he can't always please everyone.
On the other hand, YL showed SW that he does not need to be serious all of the time and that he can shows his softy side sometimes.
There were few hints in Guardian : When YL was at Dixing and then the sacred stone told something like "you are hiding behind that mask of jokes"
Or with the episode about the personality disorder when YL asked the doctor why on some people it does not work she answers that the people who are not affected are already hiding someting/ already manipulating their personality to another one. And we know that YL, SW and Lin Jing were not affected. LJ was hiding something at that time but I think for YL and SW it is because they are not showing their true self
