Are we kept out of heaven because we aren't perfect? We are made perfect by the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus alone qualifies us for heaven. That's it. No work will ever do. No one will ever be perfect on this side of heaven. We still absolutely must strive for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord, we love our lives not even unto death, and we repent daily, seeking to be transformed into the likeness of Jesus. But this kind of message can create so much spiritual anxiety because we are ultimately looking to ourselves for salvation- to ourselves for perfection. I for one will never meet that mark. The apostle Paul, arguably the greatest Christian to ever live, even said that he could not judge himself rightly. Only God can do that. We must look to Jesus alone, the author and finisher of our faith.
