We hope you guys enjoy this video - it was definitely one of our longest to edit so far on the channel! 😄🎥 Make sure to smash the subscribe button if you haven't already so you don't miss our new videos every Sunday at 10am 🏸💥
Me off court: I need a positive thinking! I have to concentrate on every point! Let's go! Me on court: *Loses a point.* Damn, I shouldn't play a drop shot, the opponent was near the net! I'm so bad! *Loses the next two points because of procrastination.*
This is absolutely brilliant as this topic goes beyond badminton. With the right attitude and dedication, success is possible in every area in life. To quote Earl Nightingale “we become what we think about. Positive thinking yields wonderful results. Negative thinking breeds frustration and unhappiness.” Michelangelo reminded us “the great danger for most of us is not setting our goals too high and falling short, but setting them too low and achieving them.” Thank you!
Absolutely love this video so crucial in anyone's lives not just Badminton. Love the end bits too! Shows it's not easy to do🤣 doing a great job both keep it up👍
Thank you for this video.. now for 2 weeks I have improved my mental game, which was being too hard on myself if I missed a shot.. which ultimately lowered my morale and my partner as well.
I'm just a passionate club player. As a professional musician who has competed in music competitions, I find that the themes in Gladwell's "Outliers" and Colvin's "Talent is Overrated" were applicable to both music and badminton.
Thank you for this video. I love badminton but also struggle with mental health a lot which is why I get frustrated often. For example, if I didn't sleep well, eat well or just have a day when I feel off, I instantly feel it during a match. Not getting enough sleep, for example, makes such a difference in reaction speed! Could you make more videos about the mental part in badminton? I get soo tense sometimes and have a hard time relaxing, especially if I don't feel my best but I know I could be better if I relaxed. It totally feels like self-sabotage D:
"I'm not an optimist, because an optimist thinks everything will be fine, and he won't do anything to change it. I'm not a pessimist, because a pessimist thinks nothing will change for the better, and he does nothing to change it."
Ha my coach always says this. Positive mentality in the game is such a big part of badminton. Whilst you may not be able to play any better during the game, you can def start playing a hell of a lot worse. Make such a difference in rubbers.
This is one of the major thing I was looking for...thank you so much for such a great video I would like you to make a video on preparations , mindsets before a major match.....
Play to your strengths. I was thinking about it recently, I am not so good at smashes so I thought nevermind I will use different strategies. What I already have and bring best out of that
on friday night, I played very very well.. but today on Sunday morning, I played really badly, in consistent, no motivation.. I suppose I need to be more positive when feeling down, do a more easy shot, when the confident come back, play more variety shot..
Fantastic topic to uncover, most badminton channels only focuses on the physical & skills aspect, often neglecting the impactful psychological aspect. Awesome Oscar level acting btw 🤣🤣
Thank you for the video! I find that there are times that I'm mentally not "in" the game and get bogged down by the negative mentality even when I know I should do better and seeing your thoughts on this is great. Would love to see a video on what you two do for conditioning as well! Do you two do HIIT, jogging, etc.?
You're very welcome! We have done some videos on this earlier on in the channel. We do bike's and runs and then HIIT style workouts when we're not on court so much! Thanks for the comment :)
Knowing full well I'll sound like mood-hoover now, but having a broader look at the literature, gives a less confident image of self-help books like this one. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the two of you, and this positive thinking just sounds a little marketingy, on not so sciency.
Has their been a day in your career when you lost a lot of matches...... Because that day happened to me today I lost even to the players who I used win from , very easily Even from the player who I have defeated very badly (score-game/3) Literally just one thought came to my mind where is training that I have been doin , in my badminton academy 😔😔😔😔😔
Great video and I agree with what is said here 100%. Especially when playing doubles your attitude can have a huge impact on your partner for the good or the bad !!
I want to suggest that you make a video talking about unforced erros in badminton. because I want to know if they are the same definitions as tennis. And what are the characteristics? Because this is very rare to be described or talked about in badminton
Thanks for the suggestion! It is very similar to tennis yes and we often look at these in our match analysis :) But you're very right the stats are not talked about a lot in commentary!
Great viedo from this channel loving the content As they bring out the video that helps there viewers in every way possible Keep the good work up 🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥♥️
A really excellent video. I'd say one of the best you have done so far as it's not just confined to the court, but impacts your whole life and all those around you. Well done! 👍👍👍 ps, That line call strop was brilliant Jenny, laughing away here.
Thank you so much Dave, glad you enjoyed it! We were a bit worried as we didn't know how it would go down! Haha we were both laughing many times ourselves when editing!! You can even see Greg laughing in the clip
Very important video and concepts guys :) definitely an under discussed topic. I like the last tip around setting huge goals, even if you don't achieve them, evaluate why and work on it for the next time! I'm definitely a 2%er 😁😁
It definitely is you're right! Life's about learning! And yes we would definitely put you in the 2%er category Max haha keep it up and bringing people up with you!
Agreed Amjad! :) Start off trying to hit a smash with 50% power and slowly build it up until your muscles are used to this hitting action. You can also use theraband exercises to add extra robustness and strength - we've done a video on this on the channel, would highly recommend watching it! :)
I started playing badminton from January 2021 and had to change from left hand to right hand completely because of my surgery.... 1 thing is learned is that sometimes you need to shut off your environment and clear your mind and just focus on the game.... This let's me win many matches even though I have not a good stamina

Thank you for covering the mental game in badminton. This is a topic that rarely gets mentioned but it's super important!
Thank you so much Dan, we definitely agree!! Hopefully we can cover lots more on this topic in the future 👍🏼
Came for some badminton advice, got life advice.
Me off court: I need a positive thinking! I have to concentrate on every point! Let's go!
Me on court: *Loses a point.* Damn, I shouldn't play a drop shot, the opponent was near the net! I'm so bad! *Loses the next two points because of procrastination.*
Haha it happens so much!
This is absolutely brilliant as this topic goes beyond badminton. With the right attitude and dedication, success is possible in every area in life. Thank you so much! They are 2 great quotes, we may steal one to use on our Instagram in the next week - thanks haha

This is a great point indeed and never crossed my mind. Will implement this during my training.

What an actress performance, Jenny ! You made my day ! If youtube don't work out, you could always retrain yourself in acting career ;-).

May be an old video, but I definitely enjoyed it, quite some learnings from this videos and the outtakes were gold 😁
Haha thank you 😆
Great tips all around. Pressure comes from internal and external sources. It's how we face, accept, process, and deal with them that's important.
Absolutely!
I really want to become a player I want to represent my country

Love the video. I am sometimes negative on the court mostly to myself. Thank you for the Video :)

It's common for beginners
But learn to warmup before match and improve the strength of muscles involved in badminton
