      art can also create walls, which is does sometimes, by being inaccessible. there is a lot of "gate keeping" going on in the art scene and it's really refreshing to hear her say the opposite

      i consider the creating of nuclear bombs art, because the work that goes into it is so incredibly complex.

      No need for complex answers, this isn't deep. It's just a combination of delutional self-importance and lack of discipline.

    • @nyckelhypa
      @nyckelhypa Рік тому +2

      @@maxxam3590 It takes a lot of discipline to flawlessly perform vocal melodies as complex as those found in Monk's work. I also see no evidence at all that she is delusional or self-important. Whether or not her work is deep, is up for debate, so at best you are correct in one of your three accusations. At best.

      @@nyckelhypa She's delusional and self important, and where in most professions those would be considerable drawbacks, in art they're a veritable boon.

    Meredith, mi papa me hacia escucharte desde que estaba en la panza de mi madre, antes de nacer. Hice lo mismo con mi hijo. Ahora es un bebe y adoro poder compartir la atmosfera con tu arte presente. Creo que mi padre estaba seguro de lo que hacia. Sabia del poder curativo del que hablamos.
    Las imagenes que me produce escuchar tus trabajos tienen que ver con algo escencial que sucede en mi ser

Bolzano down and the other arrested former idiot in South America . If Putin isn't out of power soon suffering continues . Iranians have all the courage . Power must not always be a general and a gun . Some male in Iran must change conditions. I as there when the Shahenshah was the regime -they were better off then ! i love what she says about the human voice being a pure instrument that represents inner experience that words cannot express - but i'd love for her to extend on that more. I'd love to understand her more fully fleshed out ideas behind her art - i think it could be really profound if she did. But i don't feel like her ideas seem fully expressed or communicated yet

    • @deeneannwhittenford4373
      @deeneannwhittenford4373 6 років тому +2

      I don't think any can fully express for in our 3D world it is impossible...that is why ...imagery and personal "owned" images that one has experienced and perhaps very deeply...choose to exhibit when possible...

      she's fully expressing and communicating her ideas in the art itself.

    • @sbernstein
      @sbernstein Рік тому

      By saying you want her extend more is implying that music needs an intellectual component in order to be understood. The point of this music is that it transcends language. It’s about intuitive leaps that don’t always follow a linear train of thought, and that’s what’s beautiful about it. My belief is that you should never try to intellectualize art or music. It is about how it makes you feel. And that’s what Meredith does, and that’s why it’s beautiful.

    • @sbernstein
      @sbernstein Рік тому

      Need to add that the reason Meredith’s work has received such high praise is that people are responding to the emotional quality of her voice and composition. The expression and meaning are in the VOICE. The depth of feeling within it. I’d ask you to consider why you believe meaning cannot come from these things, or why you think it needs “more”.

    • @ShamanMirror
      @ShamanMirror 3 роки тому +2

      The greater "we" doesn't have enough spiritual depth art. What passes for "art" in contemporary popular culture is mostly "product", marketing, "entertainment", distraction, superficial. Those things tend to be less healing, less fulfilling. But the damage keeps coming from the gravely wounded perpetuating their pain and damage onto others.
      Why are so many humans so cut off from nature, from self, from each other?
      That why is not so easy to answer.... IMO..... fear is a powerful and destructive force....

    • @missburn

      That's fine, though. I don't most of the time either but it just comes down to whether it somehow grabs your attention or move you or not. If not, that's just how it is. I don't think art is always about understanding it but I often see people say that it's a requirement. Well, the people that say they "don't get it" see it as one.

  • @maxxam3590

    3:06 Oh, trust me, I get it. I absolutely do. The fact that I hate it doesn't mean I don't get it. I don't call it a combination of delutional self-importance and lack of discipline because I don't get it, I call it that because I *do* get it.

      This attempt at insulting Meredith Monk doesn't work on any level. There's no way the average Trump voter listens to her music. There's also no reason to consider her incompetent in her field, as she can clearly sing very well, can play the piano and is a capable composer. I am not sure what you were thinking when writing your comment, but you failed on every possible level.
