    Hi Guy
    Well explained 👍
I've not gone super light yet🤔
But may go that way eventually. The lowest I go is 2 g which works really well on my setups👍
Good luck to all of the newcomers to the sport.
    Tight lines everyone from tomorrow.
    🤞🎣🤞🎣🤞🎣🤞🎣🤞🎣🤞🎣🤞

Gavin I would class 2g as ultralite, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video

Nice video, when it comes to lines, I use straight light lb braid, with a short bite leader of 40 lb braid at the end of my line. Some guys talk about the fish being line shy, and needing a flourocarbon leader, but other guys, along with myself don't seem to have any issues like that. If you are fishing in a crystal clear mountain lake or stream with fish that are finicky, and cautious, yea a clear line leader would make sense. I've caught fish out of very clear bodies of water with the same straight braid though. Guys talk about braid in smoke color not being easily visible, and some say to color a few inches of line from the hook with a black marker. One way I think is, in the water there is vegetation and plants, and braid in green or moss green colors would vaguely resemble that to fish. Waters I fish often are a bit stained and look like kind of like light beer. I love it when the water is a bit murky too. The other day I ordered a Calcutta conquest BFS, which is supposed to arrive sometime monday. Also ordered a Majorcraft troutino 4'10" UL 2 piece rod which arrived early. When the reel gets here I'm going to put some 4lb berkley fireline crystal on it.

Excellent information in this. I am too going to do an introduction to lure fishing. Partly filmed already. I think it’s great to try and get people into this style of fishing. Excellent video 👍👍👍🎣

Yes thank you mate. Well done. I appreciate what goes into the videos and it’s been even more challenging to get decent content out during lockdown. Like I said, I like this one because it’s a great introduction to those thinking about trying it. Great job mate! 👍👍👍 Keep up the good work 😁🎣

Great idea for a video Guy. I've not watched the whole thing yet but if it isn't in there a video on fish care and handling would be great for any beginners. The chances of catching a reasonable sized pike while lure fishing even with light lutes is pretty high and they can be a struggle to deal with if you don't know what you're doing or don't have the necessary tools to hand.
Cheers and keep up the great work 💪

HoopDogg80 thanks mate, yes I’ll have a think about how I can do a handling and fishcare video. This was a more broad overview!... it’s a bit long!

Kuying are very good for experienced anglers too.I have 7 different kuying rods for every fishing method starting super ultra light and ending with heavy gear. Bargain rods for its price!

    Ok so hear me out.....
I'm getting really into ultralights that fishing...
I fish in a river that has big salmon and trout...
    Hold on! Yes...
I'm trying to target big salmon and big trout with ultralight gear.
The question is what kind of gear should I use so it could be considered ultralight fishing?
I'm guessing a baitcaster would be better for better brake system and line capacity.
    Thank you for answering! :)

I've landed pike over a meter on BFS gear so this is definitely possible.
If the fish are under 8lb I would probably use 6lb mainline and a 0.5-7g BFS setup (major craft speedstyle would be perfect). If the fish are bigger (below 20lb) i would set up to a 2-12g rod and use 10lb mainline. You will need a reasonable reel, if you want a BFS reel I would go for shimano scorpion bfs, aldebaran or the diawa alphas air 8.6tw (the Chinese options are the fishband gh100 or kastking Zephyr). If your budget can push to it something like the illex pepper magic wand or finesse quest would be ideal rods (Chinese versions kuying teton, tsurinoya proflex 3 or agile all on aliexpress)

@@theoccasionalangler6956 Thanks for the tips :) 👍 Hopefully I can get the equipment i need to start! 😁
The river that I fish have some occasional monsters. We're talking 40 pound salmon 18 pound seatrout's. Those fish should give me the challenge i need with this gear!! :D

    Hi Occasional Angler!
Do you mind me asking where you bought your Calcutta Conquest bfs HG from? And would you recommend them to other anglers wishing to buy from there? I only ask because as one reads articles about warranty and repair work if necessary, I begin thinking what’s the best place to buy from JDM (digital a and the likes) or UK? Thanks

what size jighead/weight would you use for the Flash Arrow J & the zman 2inch grub.please help. .

As a rule of thumb 1g per foot of depth you are fishing. Hook size 6 would probably match nicely
