Marvelous to seen & hear the radio Lone Ranger! My 92 yr old mother told me how she & my grandmother hid in the closet to listen to his radio show BC my grandfather was SO strict.
As a fan of Arthur Godfrey I really don't understand why there has been no streaming movie about his career, for example, with all these streaming services like Paramount + and Amazon Prime and Hulu you would think someone would have content about one of the biggest stars of early television history but nope! The guy was the Oprah of his time in terms of massive success and has put pushed into the dustbin of popular culture history. Not even a book about Arthur Godfrey. He was huge and broke BIG acts nationally like The McGuire Sisters. Amazing he has been neglected.
Arthur Godfrey held the record of being "On the air" more hours per week, than any other person, i.e. 16 hours! He was also the "oldest" person to complete jet pilot training at Pensacola Air Base, Fla. in 1949-50! While some fellow performers didn't like him, anyone over 70 must admit that he was a "GIANT" in early t.v.!
They cut out the portion of Lowell Thomas' radio clip in which he mentioned Hershey's chocolate...with and without nuts.", which caused his uncontrolled laughter.
Hey Buzzr do you have anything more on The Radio Lone Ranger? Can I have permission to take this and use it on my channel? Brace Beemer is my Grandfather.
