I do love a Top 10 video though they tend to take me aaaages! This one has been brewing for a while. A wee change from the micros and the AliExpress stuff, some big brands, big hitters, big players in the market, but not with big prices. What or who did I miss? Let me know if your favourite budget big brand isn't here. Cheers, Jody
There are three inevitabilities in this llife:
-death
-taxes
-Jody sells me on another Vostok
Waiting for the two Vostoks that I have ordered!
Vostoks are addictive :O
Jody owes me the price of a Vostok GMT and a 24 Hour Dial model (mind you the dial is stunning on that one, i got the blue). 😉
Let's be honest: sure, we love the watches, but we've got plenty and are just watching to hear Jody talk
We? You speak for yourself mate. No one else. I'm here for the watches.
Hello and welcome to No more watch!
@@alframseysporndungeon8 I think he meant it kinda tongue-in-cheek, lol. I don’t know about the rest of Jody’s audience but speaking for us Yanks, most of us enjoy the accent as much as the content.
Can confirm
Im here for it all. Hellooooooo.
Jodi, would you make us a personnal experience review of your watch winders back there?
What they're like, how frequently you use them, what's your typical rotation, precautions, etc... your experience would be interesting to hear.
I'm sure a bunch of people from a lot of forums would come over and tell us their experience as well, if you know what I mean ;)
This is a seiko-Vostok household sir. Respect to any company that can bring the Swiss to their knees
Almost exactly 1 year ago I ordered my first Vostok after watching one of your reviews...... I now have 5 😫 help me! I can't stop. 🤣
They will start breathing soon.
Check out their 55k series! Charming little things
Surprised you didn't recommend the 'DressKX' for the Seiko 5 range. You seemed to be pretty satisfied with it.
My second automatic watch ever was a vostok amphibia 710 case... still working (inaccurately xD)
Open that puppy up and get regulating!
@@TheWatchtowerWatchReviews did that several times... but without timegrapher to tell me if it’s running well or not it takes says for me to notice if I did it well or not... been a month already and still going too fast or too slow... i guess i will wait for the timegraphers on amazon to get on offer... xd
@@danielhristov6175 or wait for AliExpress to have their February sale, should be a weishi on offer then, think it's Feb 12th this year. I must get moving on a sale video!
Love my 710!
710 best Vokstok, so comfortable!
As a bloke I confidently say that we all love a top 'x' list 👌
after finally finishing some vostok-mods that I started or planned months ago I just ordered vostok Nr 5...oh dear, here we go again :D
So much quality information here, packed into 25mins.
Brilliant, thank you, Jody.
I hadn't realised Vostok was such a reliable diver, for peanuts (without getting the monkey, that is.).
Your channel amoung a select few others truly bring me joy when I see a video has been uploaded. Thanks for being awesome Jody!
Thanks so much Jack!!
Seiko, Vostok and Casio will always have a place in my collection. Usually several places actually.
King turtle ❤️ had one bought for me for my 50th and gave to say it’s just everything I need - looks, style and presence - go buy one!
Good choice, can't go wrong with a turtle...
I just got a great deal on a new King Samurai. VERY HAPPY!
Glad to see Bulova getting some well deserved UA-cam love. I’ll for sure be looking forward to that devil diver review.
My father bought a black kamasu a month ago... totally in love with it :D
I grabbed the wine red one, and bar the dodgy clasp, it's near perfect!
I went for the more minimalist Kano. I love the BB Heritage look with the burgundy bezel and matte black dial. 👍
@@TheRealLucifer_Morningstar minimalistic? Isn’t that almost the same watch but bigger?
@@danielhristov6175 The case is slightly larger but the bezel has no pip or minute markers. And the writing on the dial is very small.
@@TheRealLucifer_Morningstar beautiful, just saw a comparison between the two, i still like the Kamasu more doe (i love small watches)
Happy to see Glycene in here. Had my Combat Sub for a few months now and I'm still over the moon with it!
I just bought a glycine combat 6 last night. Very reasonable. I have a glycine quartz dress watch as well.
I got Airman, tho it's more than double this price range.
@@smashexentertainment676 The Airman is a bloody nice watch though
Hey Jody thanks for putting this video together. With my birthday coming up I'm going to send links to this to both my sons along with my picks from your list. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Q&Q also makes good watches... like casio
It was my first watch ever back when i was a kid... bought by my dad.
1 month later it stopped working... i was keep on pressing the back light botton because it was such a beautiful green xd
Q&Q is a Subbrand of Citizen ;)
@@noobfl yes i know :)
I think they are a sub-brand of Citizen, a bit like Alba and Seiko.
They sell those here in Japan for like just a few bucks, at the local mall and not even at a watch shop, they are usually found in between the kids toys and stationary section.....they look like they would stop working if someone just stepped on it accidentally.
I always enjoy these budget videos. In no small part thanks to your reviews, I am a proud owner of the Vostok Komanderskie. I am impartial to mechanical hand wind watches so I also own a 1964 Timex Marlin - simply the most elegant understated watch. Thank you for this review Jodie.
Loved the video! I bought a Kamasu last year from one of your videos and LOVE IT! This video may have added a Hamilton to the top of my list for this year. I keep seeing it and love the look every time. My wife and my wallet are not amused.
Just the list I was looking for! Thanks Jody! ❤️
It’s great to watch a channel where the presenter actually does their research, and understands watches.
Keep it up Jody.
Bulova has been really impressing me lately. After collecting for years, have picked up two autos (The oceanographer being one). looking at their a-15 currently and the Sinatra series. The limited surfboard Chronograph A and the packaging shows how serious they are getting!!!
This is a great video, mentioning some absolutely fantastic options! Thanks, Jody!
I can vouch for the Tissot Gentleman - I love it a little more each time I wear it. “You will not get bored with the Tissot Gentleman on your wrist” 100% accurate.
That one is a real beauty. Next to Hamilton, Tissot is my favourite watchbrand. (Having a Tissot Heritage 1936 myself.)
I know I’m grave digging an old comment, but I’m considering the gentleman. My biggest gripe is the lug width of 21mm, which renders all the 20 and 22mm straps I already own useless. Can you replace the clasp with a third party one that has on the fly adjustment? Because that’s the major point that’s keeping me from getting one.
I really enjoy these feature length videos! Cheers, Jodie.👍👍
Your videos are always smack on, Jody. Enjoyed this one in particular. Good balance between divers and non divers 🙂 Cheers!
Some solid picks in there Jody, I for sure have some beauty Hamilton’s in my collection but as for Citizen you have to give credit for some of best bang for your buck watches in the game. I just grabbed a 41mm World Time Promaster GMT Eco-Drive, solid bracelet milled clasp, smooth bi-directional bezel. As you mentioned grab & go with everything and more for a bargain. The many options by Citizen make it a straight up winner in my books.
Great video as always J 🇨🇦👊🏼
Great content Jody... keep up the stellar work mate 👍🏽
The Hamilton Khaki king is my current grail watch, and I WILL own one someday soon. I also love the Citizens Blue Angel, another grail for me, and it too is on my list to buy! Great video as always Jody!!! This list has no losers on it!
I put an NH36 in my seiko snzg. Just had to swap out the gray movement spacer ring for the black one that came on the 7S26. The I swapped the black day & date discs from the 7S26 to the NH36. Install the dial & hands &... well, you get the point. It makes an awesome field watch into an even MORE incredible field watch with hand winding & hacking. Oh! I also installed a sapphire crystal with purple A/R I bought from Crystal Times. So it's a really bad-ass watch. The only thing my snzg needs now, in my opinion, is a threaded screw down crown. It's possible, but kinda beyond my skill level, experience & tool availability. Just thought I would share this, I don't know why. Thanks for another great video, Jodi!
Congratulations on 175k subscribers!!
Thanks mate! Next stop, 200k. Maybe by the end of the year?
@@JustOneMoreWatch Definitely by the end of the year.
I now have worn the Citizen Promaster for about half a year, recently got it off the rubber and onto one of those Marine Nationale Style stretchy straps and gotta say, it disappears on wrist now. Crazy how little you can notice a 44mm watch on wrist. It's accurate to about two seconds a month for me, timing bezel takes care of baking rolls, cooking pasta and timing things at work (I'm a bicycle mechanic and have to time certain procedures and soaking times). Love this thing! Absolute steal and just a great watch overall!
The Japanese just constantly killing the budget market! Have to love them!
Jason, I don't know how old you are, but I am 51. Because of that, when I was a kid in the 70's, I was watching reruns after school of a show from the 1960s called "The Odd Couple."
I remember distinctly when the character "Felix" in that show got a Rolex watch. He was really proud of it, and driving all of the other characters nuts because he wouldn't shut up about it. He talked about it's features, that were "unheard of" by anyone who did not own a very expensive Swiss Watch.
It wound itself using your body motion, the second hand was smooth and didn't tick...etc. The point is, all we know today as an "automatic watch" was a new and BIG deal when that show aired in the 1960s.
Then the patents wore off. Then the Japanese said "oh yeah...watch this! Watch how we can make that technology inexpensive and accessible, because we didn't have to spend the money inventing it."
Now, regular Schmos like me have winders all over our bedrooms, filled with automatic watches.
Hand salute to the Nips!
Citizen is by far my favorite brand on this list, I have several in my collection with never an issue.
i ordered a Vostok mid november. still waiting but i'm keeping the faith!
I bought one in winter too, a couple of years ago, it took ages, 3/4 months maybe because of the very severe winters Russia has, so hang on in there. It arrived covered in Russian stamps so that kinda made up for the wait.
This was an EPICALLY entertaining video, cheers Jody
You’ve excelled yourself! Every piece is a great choice. PR100 is my personal favourite; that plus the G-shock and everything’s covered.
I'm seriously considering picking up a vintage Marlin, throwing out the movement, and putting in a VH31. It's a stunning piece, but the movement just isn't good enough in the reissue
I brought the Vostok GMT around 2 months ago. It’s fantastic! The watch has been staying at 1 to 2 seconds a day accuracy on the wrist or in a winder!
Managed to pick up the Bulova Oceanographer green variant for £249 after Xmas. Wears brilliant , although it's slightly large it's not noticeable because of the case type , like the Turtle. My first experience with a jubilee bracelet and it's very comfortable , really pleased with it.
Hey Jody! That was great! Let me put it like this: every watch collectors should have watch from at least some of the watch brands you enumerated!
Great video jodie, really enjoyed watching it 👍 I bought the Duro with a marlin on after watching a previous video. love it. going to get a vostok now
Fantastic video, this time around! Sure, it's long, but with your pacing and content it certainly didn't seem that way.
I love the list; I own a few of those; you've got me thinking about a few more.
Great video! I have two of them, the kamasu and the blue angels, both fantastic watches!
My Glycine Combat Sub is quickly becoming a wrist time favourite. I gave the 42mm GL0083 that came on a black and silver, leather reinforced nato but just put it on a black rubber strap and it is a beast!
Thank you for Introducing me to Orient. Brilliant value for money.
Great video! Thanks for introducing me to Vostok and Orient. Love them!
Great selection Jody! I have quite a few of these, must start moving up the price ladder soon!
Excellent list there. I deffo like the Glycine. Vostock amphibia on the wrist at the moment though.
I'm surprised Seiko has not made a Green Sea turtle version of the turtle, that would be awesome. I still need to get one of those Casio G-shock's but I guess if I get it I'll never touch my other watches.
There is a green one
That's the Casio Problem. I just got aware that I am wearing my G Shock for 4 weeks. Since 5 Minutes I am wearing my Komandirsky now.
I have three of this watches.
I have in my collection a Tissot PR100, Casio DW5600 and Seiko 5 SNK 795. All of these are a very good watches. My favorite: Tissot!
Greetings from Colombia.
Great selection ! I own few of your selecteted watches and brands in my collection. Has affordable great watches, I will have added the German, Swiss Made Steinhart. And if you have only one pick to do, for an automatic watch, go with a Powermatic 80, you find them in some Tissot, Certina, Hamilton and Mido. They are wonderful high tech, accurate and reliable movement. I have 2 with COSC certification and 2 without, but all the 4 with the same super accuracy.
Good advice
Top notch selection, sir. 'Wish I had EVERY single one.*tips hat*
Another great vid Jody...would there be any chance of you doing a review of a selection of skeleton watches?....I love the look of alot of them the way you can see all the innards (from the front not just a clear back) ...would be great to see you review a group of them.
The Seiko SNZG13 is my pick! Great classic looks, easy to read, and top value. I paid $175 Au for a new one a little while back and it's one-off my favorites. Cheers, Jody...
one of the best vid in this topic.
thx a lot!
Great, now I want both those Bulovas, thanks.
Have the Casio 5600, a (small seconds) Bambino and yes, another Vostok is on its way! Thanks Jody for feeding my new watch addiction and easing the pandemic blues.
Jody LMAO when you fessed up to being pissed when you commissioned the wrong thumbnail!! You know what they say - honesty is the best policy! Thanks for the great reviews - keep them coming....
i just got 2 casion watches today, blue duro and black casio royale, i like your videos
WOW some fantastic watches with a video to equal them. A real Bobbie Dazzler Jody be proud be very proud. 👏👏👏
Happy to see another video!
I bought the Bulova on your recommendation Jody. It sits next to my speedy in the watch box and is the most accurate watch I've ever owned!
Very helpful list, thank you!
I have a citizen BM8180 on my wrist right now. Incredible incredible watch
Great choices Jody. I'm a bit partial to a square type watch face. have you thought of a top 5 budget square face watch?
Oh Jody! Those Vostoks... a face only a mother could love.
Excellent picks ! That blue citizen was beautiful. I wish the chronograph hand could be used as the standard ticking seconds hand as well. Not sure if anything like that exists, but I enjoy my large second hands.
Outstanding!!!! All watches were great but those Hamiltons! Delicious 😋
Good to see u mention the Timex ironman , that was my go to had about 5 growing up and one in my collection right now 👍
Also if u want a one watch collection I recommend the GShock GAW 100G does it all solar, atomic , never need another watch such a beast ....and above all it is 100 quid 😉
10:28 - "i haven't got time to tell you the story..", but proceeds to anyway.. :)
Great list....I've also eyed the bulova oceanographer....a very nice turtle alternative. I have the dark blue version of the citizen Promaster you've shown here. Try the HELM rubber strap on this. A match made in heaven.
Great video as usual really enjoy these "top 10/15/20" videos. Good job. Did you have a look at the Military Watches UK site for tritium ?
Good work, Jody! I think you just put together a solid 20 watch collection without realizing it!😂
Just bought an Orient Kamasu on eBay thanks to you Jody. Someone had to... I'd really go a bundle on that Citizen Perpetual Chrono if it was in black.
A really great vid! Thank you.
I like your choices. I would have liked to see Certina in this group. Solid Swiss time pieces that definitely fit in the under $500 group!
Brilliant top 10, thank you
Great video
Thanks for the upload!
Very enjoyable and informative for me. 2 thumbs up.
I'm a big fan of Timex Ironman. I have two of them. One I have owned for over 20 years and still going strong and the other one I bought off eBay earlier this year. The eBay one is baby blue & silver and is in excellent condition.
I know your a fan of Casio. Amazon just had the gw500a on sale for 54$ I had to order one. Love it! You should get one in for review
Thanks for the review. You have given me some ideas. I have collected 5 Orient watches in the past year or so, and think they have replaced Seiko as the best value for the money brand. I wish I had a time machine and could go back and get some of the affordable Seiko watches available 3 - 5 years ago . I have a Seiko solar chronograph, and one Citizen Eco drive watch, but have not had much luck finding more Solar watches that suit my style. Reviews of Solar watches are way less common than for mechanicals, probably due to the mechanical bias collectors seem to have. Both types of watches are technical marvels, and they each have their place in a collection. Do you have any other suggestions for the solar watch collectors?
Fantastic video! It was a lot of work!
I always look forward to seeing my pal Jodie ‘ s channel !
I always love these value lists. The only issue is they make my commitment to saving for a grail waver...
Hmmm, that Citizen "Blue Angels" is right up my street. Nice watch. Must look around for one of those. Lovely on that blue strap too.
Starbuy sells them cheap, 250aud
@@ailleurskholin3462 Thanks, I'll take a look. I'm in Europe but maybe they ship. I saw on eBay that these are often going for 500-600 USD for a new one.
EDIT : I actually just looked at Starbuy and the Blue Angels model shown here is around 800 AUD in that shop. The 250 AUD model is the Nighthawk, which is 250 USD most other places too. It's not exactly the same watch as this video but quite similar and still a fine watch, and much cheaper.
Cracking video. Splendid choices. My top picks would be a seiko SARB (still just about available) or a Hamilton 38mm khaki field auto. 😁👍
Nice overlook mate, as it is pretty hard to give recommendations because of the thousands of brilliant watches out there. I have to say I missed YEMA in this list. Anyway, big cheers from Bremen / Germany!
Uh oh I will have to go back and rewatch the first 12 mins or so, I fell asleep in there somewhere!
Totally not your fault its 2am here in NZ and I'm in the recliner with a blanket. I should go to bed...
A man of my word I have returned 8 hours later to rewatch the entire video!
Great video Jody. I've had several Seiko's but always felt underwhelmed (including the Sarb033/035 which I am looking to flip soon). It's got to be the G-Shock square this time, followed closely by the Citizen Promaster.
Before watching I’m gonna guess Seiko, Casio, Orient, Citizen, Tissot, Hamilton, Glycine, Certina, Timex, Vostok
Bulova in stead of Certina, I was close! Shows I should really find a new hobby 😂
Some left-field options I would add are Sea-Gull (China) and Junkers (German)
8.25" wrist, and I've got the Khaki King and Lunar Pilot. Will happily wear both. The Hamilton is an astonishing watch for the money; yes it has some flaws and corners cut, but its such a classic design and unobtrusive thing on wrist.
Number 1 ... Glycine Combat, Classic versions included !!!
Hello - I have a SEIKO SNZG13 - Absolutely love the watch. But the problem I have now is servicing - Seiko and other jewellers are asking practically the same price as the watch to service it - Not sure if that is great value. Wondering if it is the same for all the other brands. You buy cheaper automatics but then you pay same price of servicing. Is it really a good deal in the end ?
Any advice or video on that ?
Thank you
great video, wearing my amphibia right now!
Perfect list! Perfect vid! Great job!
What’s your opinion on swatch system 51 as a budget watch?
Ahhhh, the Sistem 51. I reviewed one ages ago, have a look for the video. Technically amazing, but light and plastic feeling. For some reason, WIS have not taken to it.
Jody, Can u please make a video on how to read or analyse a good field/military watch. Need to understand what one should look for. Usage of the big Indic numbers, usage of the 24 hr dial, any other thing that makes one wacth better than other, apart from the specs of the watch.
Great Video, excellent choices
