I live in Montreal and yes, you’re lifestyle plays a huge role. But $2000 a month CAD or US for 1 person is very unrealistic in Montreal. Taxes are out of control, gas, food prices, restaurants, rents are skyrocketing, but utilities are cheap. This city is equal to if not more expensive than a California city.
I left Montreal in 1984 to pursue a job in Ottawa where I still live. I paid $230 per month in rent in the Cote St Luc area.
Wow! $230/month! The average rent in Cote-St-Luc is probably above $2,300 now-a-days!
Hi.
2 bedroom apartment for rent, how much
You can find one for $1,500 that's 20 minutes from downtown by metro.

I think we’re still a lot more affordable than a city in California. The price of real estate loan is significantly less expensive here.
It seems unrealistic from carmina
The grocery bill seems unrealistic unless you're living off KD and Ichiban noodles.
1$ per meal is pretty realistic, you just gotta know how to do it
There's lots of pigeons in Montreal--if you like squab
Great

This guy is delusional. I’m actually laughing. Has he fallen down a time warp hole for rent and he’s living in 2010 again?? What a joke!
