First bricklayer I've seen on you tube who laid the last brick in the wall correctly also known as the "closure brick". He buttered both ends of the last brick and the ends of the brick on the right and brick on the left. That's how you get a full joint. This guy's first class and could work anywhere!
Do they not have to have clear cavities in Australia? In UK sites with 100mm cavities it is mandatory to have a clear Cavity and have inspectors check with torches and in some cases mirrors on telescopic poles! I'd have thought that timber framed buildings with narrower cavities would have to be completely clean to stop damp from tracking through to the timber but iv not seen hum clean the mortar from the back side of his brick once

I’m 50 and 10 years ago I stopped peeping the back as a third movement, perp heavier in two ! That repetitive third backsweep is a unnatural movement that will cause tendinitis later on.. cortisone injections in your shoulder if you want to have longevity in this game ! Be warned

Done my fair share of brick and blockwork in my time but much prefer working with stone. My comment was more tongue in cheek but I'm always interested in opportunities away from the constant rain we are having lol.
don't do it.. most of the builders use blocks... hardly anyone uses bricks like in the video.. they are also paying terrible money... don't fall for the bullshit.. 47 degree Celsius in summer.. 42 years as a mason...trust me...why would a bricklayer post a video saying come to my country and compete with me for the work and keep the prices down???
22 for 4 inch 26 6 inch just finished a job 800 quid had a few jobs in between pound a brick all solid payed through windows doors if your a good trowel plenty money to be made up here mate 👍
