Fun Fact: The Black Knight actually has a unique death quote as a playable unit in spite of the fact that he is virtually invincible during Part 1 The same cannot be said for Micaiah unfortunately
Micaiah should have a unique quote where she acknowledges that she never died once during the entire part 1, which resets the game and deletes your savefile bc that shouldnt be posible
This map is the principal reason why i think Micaiah is the only "Lord" in the franchise who absolutely needs to be given an angelic robe to not get the player soft locked
If her speed is too low (as was the case here), Micaiah will still get one-rounded even if you boost her hp. It's still not a softlock but it makes solving 1-9 much more challenging.
Can't you give her Illyana's Shade skill to keep her from getting targeted by the soldiers? Usually just parking her in the bottom right corner worked for me but I did that on Normal mode, so....
@@ResurgentRaven the other problem is that once you resch this map you cant touch anything from anyone other than Micaiah so its impossible to make changes of skills or equipment once you reach it

I really enjoyed all the infantry animations in RD. Gave me hope for a Soul Calibur style side project starring some FE characters. The Halberdier/Sentinel animations would fit right in to a 3D fighting game.
Chapters like these really make me wonder why they were afraid of giving michaih decent stats. Like just give her 5% in spd and hp and she's probably fixed.
@@cyncynshop I find it fascinating that people call Micaiah a Mary Sue when the back third of the game is basically Everything Micaiah Tries Goes Wrong (Because She's Committing The Fallacy Of Fighting For The "Greater Good"). This girl is constantly making mistakes due to well established character flaws and good intentions, and people hate her!
I think that in general Micaiah's army is intentionally very weak because they are kind of just a band of random goons trying to be freedom fighters. And this map is kind of proof of that idea, unfortunately it was ultimately for the worse since everyone hates this map and dislikes Micaiah in general
Shoutouts to my micaiah that I’d grinded to level 20 that still got one rounded. At least she one rounded too if I decided to attack with her on player phase
You know the writing is good when in order for the map to happen the main character has to make the stupidest possible decision and then is saved by some guy teleporting in out of nowhere. The fire emblem writers are true masters of their craft.
There's some stupid shit in RD's writing but this plot point is fine. Sephiran & the Senate canonically have warp powder and teleport around with it, including the Black Knight several times before in FE9. Further we're told in the runup that "Duke Persis" (i.e. Sephiran) is part of the inspection team sent to Daien. While I'm not sure if the plot ever bothered explaining exactly how much Sephiran knew about Micaiah and when, it seems a safe assumption he figured out who she was, and sent the BK over to protect her. Maybe Warp Powder is a questionable world-building inclusion (does it include some sort of farsight to see that Micaiah was in danger to begin with?!), but once it's part of the setting, then including it makes "and now someone new teleports in" not really an asspull, just how things work. (I wouldn't really call Micaiah's action stupid here, either - she got screwed over by the same strokes of luck that generate interesting battle maps is all that Jarod found the exact spot she'd be at night. Presumably people take short walks all the time off-screen and it's fine, and this was a short walk after she'd received info that suggested the fighting might be over.)
Fun Fact! The game doesn't explain it very well, but the Black Knight is _not_ literally invincible ever since an entire castle landed on his face. He just has such absurdly high DEF for this point in the game that the difference is largely academic.
This is the chapter where Micky would benefit from resolve. As for surving a hand axe, steel bow or javelin she needs enough HP and defense to survive an up to 27 attack, so this is the luckbased part without "wasting" angelic robe or draco shield.
Micaiah: when I become an Emblem, my tome will create light, and I'll be able to expand the range of light emitting staves! Black Knight: .....what's an Emblem?
I can['t even make a funny comment becuase of how frustrating this map is during an ordinary run. ANY misclick just gets Micaiah shredded like paper, and in FOW with an INVINCIBLE ALLY UNIT you still can't just pick her up and tote her to safety. INFURIATING.
Being intentionally designed to be weak in combat does not make her the worst. Even in gameplay she can do more for an army with staves and tome chip than someone like Roy
People rag on Micaiah for this map but really, I doubt _any_ lord or other unit will do well in this sort of situation, where enemies have the potential to ORKO or OHKO you and you have to trial and error your way through.
I swear, playing this game bck then was hard when it comes to playing as Micaiah. I remember I had the same issue of her spd & hp being too mid to the point she can be one shotted by late game unit or cant attack twice during end game. Even though she was at MAX level 😅
this map is actually very easy if you just unequip alondite. the ai in radiant dawn hates being counterattacked more than almost anything else, so if you just have bk put away his sword, all the ranged enemies will ignore micaiah in favour of attacking him.
Cannon ending. There is no way black knight just handle warp powers to micaiah the same turn reinforcements come to activate a save skill that he doesn't own

The chapter is entirely doable without michaiah ever seeing combat.
Its probably designed more as a trial and error map and not an ironman map.
It was completed on a 0% growths HM. It is doable, but requires precise course of actions.

Giving Micaiah a max crit forged light tome, for some reason, makes enemies ignore her and actually attack BK.
