Yay, Milo is back!! He's gotten big.. Thanks for the video, I was going to do the "It's me" shirt with a bunch of different sub-niches, glad I watched this first, thanks.
thank you, you always give us useful advice💙
You are welcome!
I've had a clean out and deleted well over 50 designs some have been up since 2018, had 100s of sales. I used podly to see past deleted designs and yes I had some similar. Not taking any chances, thanks for the heads up Philip 👍
Yes good job! It's painful but better be safe than sorry 👍
Great video! I don't mind watching more of these 😊
Yay! Thank you!
Heey, you just gave me a blast idea!! T-shirt based on what would stars wear. And now AIs are here. Can basically do behaviours and tell you if they would wear it. Hmmm 😊🍀🍀
Thank you for the heads up Phillip. How about the "In My Niche Era" Tshirts I see a lot of designs with that quote selling really well, It is somehow related to Taylor Swift as she used that Phrase in her Instagram caption and her 2023 Tour was named Eras Tour. Do you think it's safe?
It's a grey area. I am very split on that phrase. It's risky for sure on amazon. On all other platforms I'd say it's fine
HI PHILIP WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE NISH "IN MY (NISH) ERA" ARE THIS NISH SAFE
probably not safe
In regard to the designs that were removed, perhaps the reason was trademark content in the description. So the ☘️ looks fine, but perhaps the description wasn’t.
Yep that's another possibility good point👍
Thank you so much for this type of videos. I would like to request you please keep such kind of video.
Lots of Love From Pakistan 🇵🇰
You're welcome glad you enjoyed it!!
Bro I couldn't make it, merch on demand is really Hard to get some sales out there I worked and harder , I made 59 sales in October 2023 , royalties 60$ , tier 10 , I tired up to tier 25 and then no sales, then I sold that account, and I bought another merch account with tier 1000 , it's been one week ago, but with no sales , this is madness I couldn't make it, please dear give some peaces of advice in order to succeed
Pretty funny you highlighted that Top Dad t-shirt, because it's a copy of a "design" by Shimmy Morris, someone you have hosted on your channel before. One of the many fake gurus in this space making the majority of their income with Shopify stores with copyright infringing designs.
Are you suggesting I should know every video or design of the guests on my podcast? Or that I should know and agree with everything they have done in their past? Because that's not really the point of a podcast
@@PhilipAnders Ah, wasn't a dig at you, I respect what you do, you're one of the only legit people in this space.
@oosbando I have hundreds of Upscaled Top Gun Parody Scaled Designs, I totally changed the font, colour scheme, visually it looks cool, but its changed so much that its not breaking copyright or trademark, but I'd never sell those designs on Amazon, they are a law unto themselves. The one shown isnt a Shimmy copy persay its more a Top Gun copy with same font, alignment & colours, thats the road to ruin. (I will say I did those Top Gun Parody designs over 6 years ago, they've always been a steady seller & a bit of a boost when new movie came out).
Thank you!@@oosbando
This is so difficult if you want be save you have to memories all moves songs series TV show etc, all designs I saw it today no have idea they are related to brands, you have to check a lot
Anything worthwhile is usually difficult
Philip most of that designs are parodies, actually allowed by fair use
you will still loose your merch account trust me
@@PhilipAnders I can't, they didn't accepted me lol
Allowed by who? These types of designs should be avoided at all costs unless you’re ok with your store being shut down. Etsy is more lax than Amazon but if you’re thinking long term business this “parody” niche is a gamble that’s not worth pursuing.
Interesting, thanks for sharing. I would have thought some of these were satire. Weird Al made a career of copying and satirizing.
They are but Amazon would still give you rejections. They have their own rules and opinions
Weird al actually did get the permissions from copyright owners.
Podcs looks very similar to another merch tool😅
if the text doesn't explicitly mention the Game of Thrones series, then I suppose it's acceptable to use. Let's not overreact to something like this; otherwise, we'll never be able to publish anything.
it's not worth risking your amazon merch account for a few extra sales with a game of thrones quote. On all other marketplaces it's probably fine
Its not an overeaction, Its great advice, Amazon have their own policies & rules in place there is no real fighting them, the service is free which is a big notch in their belts when it comes to control legally. I've had several I know things removed from my trend hunting days, I think Phils main objective here is "Better safe than sorry" Anyone new to Amazon merch would do well to take heed. I fight Amazon at least once a week on thier decisions, but thats because I've been in the game for years, my experience & I know what i can & cant do, what I can & can't push, and I know when to roll over & let it go when it comes to thier policies.
thanks
"Best Mom Ever" is safe?
probably yes
Hi Milo 🐕💋🦴
Woof! 🌭
@@PhilipAnders lol. enjoy your vacation, Philip.
Isn't parody legal? Why would Paws or Hiss designs be against any rules? It's a parody, not a copy.
On Amazon you're playing by Amazon's rules, not by what's legal in front of a court
@@PhilipAnders Makes sense
@@PhilipAnders Where in Merch by Amazon AUP does it say parody is not allowed?
@@HoDLum It may not use the word parody but it will use legal wording within their policies about wether something looks simular to someones intelectual property, Its all there in black & white, its vague enough to pretty much say if we dont like it or it reminds us of something they know to be corporate or they could interpret this way, then say goodbye to the design.
@@WonderfulWorldOfStuff I see thanks.
