I agree with your first and most important point - Fear of Unknown: which is also known as “What if what I bid, is less than what I will have to pay my painters and for materials,” or “I don’t know how much to bid on this”, can be overcome by doing the blueprint measurements accurately first. Simply put, the price you charge has to be greater than the resources you put in, including paying someone to measure your blueprints for you. It all comes down to numbers - they have to be accurate. And they can’t be accurate unless your BLUEPRINT MEASUREMENTS (or takeoffs) are accurate. That is the foundation of a solid commercial painting bid, especially new construction projects. And they don’t have to be large. You can start with small T.I projects, for just a couple of thousand dollars, and progress from there.
I do not know anything about painting.
I started a painting business bc a friend of mine did the same. He said the money was good. I made 220k last year in profit. I was a plumber before and made 100k a year. Letting go of my fears was the best thing ever. Good luck guy's.
Congrats man!

Thanks. It was the commercial contracts that made 75% of my profits.
The rest was residential.
How long were you in biz before you had your 220k year profit?
In commercial painting you have to know how to bill the purchase order using the companies procurement system
You always have the contracts set up as a net 10 days this means that the company with a cut a check within 10 days of you billing the purchase order
Instead of net 30
A net 30 contract means the company will pay you 45 days after you send the bill or bill the invoice
And if it’s a long job you have it set up to pay in phases
I should do a training
I worked in procurement for over 10 years
Yes please I do like what you said
Yes please do a training.
You're the best thank you my brother because now I'm going to surpass every last painting company in the world!
Good luck!
Great stuff Eric
Commercial is a 180 from residential. Not the same world. I go toe to toe. I can't be beat. My contracts and bid docs are top notch. Thankful for growing up around the commercial industry.
Dude I’d be willing to pay for a good template to submit our bids been trying to find someone to make one for us. Word doc bid template. And a labor warranty template for their submittals.
QUESTION: say I’m starting a painting business no money or tools, should my first client pay for the tools for me to do the job? Do they pay for the paint as well?
You should hire a subcontractor to do the job so you don't need to own any equipment yourself. If you are going to start a painting business, you should definitely follow my program before you make any mistakes that cost thousands of dollars! Like Buying Equipment!! www.paintingbusinesspro.com/course
I’m already a PBP member, will this be added to the course material or does it need to be purchased separately
It's a separate program. If you have any other questions or need more info just shoot me an email. eric@paintingbusinesspro.com

Nonsense
What's nonsense about this? The facts are on my side... We are already training contractors to build their commercial company and doing it successfully.
