- Mike Mason, of Midlothian, Virginia, had served his country for decades, first as a captain in the Marines, and later as the No. 4 man at the FBI. After leaving the Bureau and working at a Fortune 500 company, Mason found retirement didn't sit well with him. So, he started a new chapter in his life, as a school bus driver. Correspondent Steve Hartman reports.

This wonderful man has the right perspective.. "what can be more important than the attention we pay to our education system?". If the USA wants to remain a world leading nation, we better start concentrating on educating ALL our kids. If we continue to have an uneducated population it will be the Achilles' heel, the downfall of this country. 🇺🇸📘

The "Father" of public education in America, Horace Mann said "Be ashamed to die before you have won some victory for humanity." If you think no one truly cares, think of the shining light that this gentleman truly is.
I watch Sunday mornings primarily for Steve Hartmans stories, always showing there is good in this world. God Bless them all

This segment has me in tears! As I am recently retired and contemplating my next venture, he is my Hero right now. He is right, look how valued our essential workers were when we needed them most! I hope people will continue to give them the respect they deserve. Bravo Sir, I commend you.
If only more of us could afford economically to serve as he is, the country would be much better off. You do what you can, though, right?

That community has THE #1, cream of the crop bus driver. What an honor 🎖 to be driven to school by Mr. Mike Mason, Champion, Warrior Hero. Bu Yah! Compassion, integrity, transparency and accountability for all!
You can guess all the things I want to say, because you want to say them too. So… I’ll just say what seems inadequate “Thank you, Mr. Mason. Thank you, Mr. Hartman”.
👏👏 This is our future. My area has a 31% illiteracy rate & they are down drivers. Covid being the problem cause that twit Governor before school started put into effect mandate a mask loose educational funding. He’s slipping in judgement calls. Teachers beside drivers resigned. Over 11,000 students were in quarantine before the first month of school. Maybe next year this driver will switch to being a driver for high school. This group needs positive role models in their lives. If I was a principal I would be asking him now to come speak to my students.
Good On Mike Mason. Lovely story. In Japan, many people who reach retirement, go on vocational courses and learn to do OTHER work - because if you stop doing something with your Life, you will die. So there are company executives and auto mechanics being re-trained, re-purposed and sent of to other countries to practice their new skills and bring Life to the under-privileged.
This story gives me goosebumps. Thank you, Mr. Mason, sir, for your service to the public. Thanks to Steve for bringing it to us.

That's exactly right, there are no unimportant jobs. We all have a role to play on this great giant sphere we all call Earth, whether or not what you choose to do on Earth is up to you. I do hope that you will choose the latter like he did and do something that will make difference and do something that your passionate about. It just takes one random act of kindness peeps. My mom was a north Georgia country girl, who late in life became a school bus driver for special education kids. She loved the kids and they loved her.

What a world we could have if people had the economic freedom to do the job they loved without having to worry about if the bills get paid at the end of the month. CRAZY
