in case of deviance acccording to emile durkheim whenever there is a certain kind of deviance, people develop some kind of awareness.people collectively try to take certain certain steps to avoid certain kind of deviance.deviance as a ringing belll for the members of society that its an alarming situation that if certain deviance is not controlled it may lead to anomie.society takes serious corrective action to stop deviance.it shows people;s negative reaction towards deviance or crime.it makes people united to take action against deviants and try to maintain harmony in society.

for example when there is an incresing number of theft in ones locality people develop an awareness of it.people collectively try their best to take action to stop theft colllectively as everyone faces the same problem in order to bring a certain kind of harmony.

social unity that takes place due to arising deviance is due the rpoblem that everyone not only faces the same problem but how non reacting to such crime may may disrupt social order that unites people.it depends how society percieve what is deviance and what impact it can possibly have.

sometimes discouragedment of any activity as deviant makes people unite aganist it to control deviance.clarity of something or activity society percive as deviance that harms normal life makes people unite against it.

example-terrorism,communalism,casteism,linguism,reigionalism,naxalism etc..that unites general members of society against it.
