When welding around animals, do they put up anything to shield the arc from their eyes? Like the shaded curtains around welding booths. Or does it even effect them? Not trying to be an animal rights boohoo but I've welded with my dog around and she was looking straight at me when I lifted my hood
Yes, actually. Though not with any arc technique. Since the moon doesn't have an atmosphere like ours on Earth, you can't burn anything or generate heat in the same way you can here. The gases simply aren't contained by an atmosphere on the moon. NASA and other space agencies with astronauts weld in space through "cold techniques." These are techniques that don't require heat and can be done in a vacuum. There is no fusion, (melting together of materials, basically), that takes place during the use of these techniques. With cold welding, you basically crush two materials together until they stick together, forming a weld that is formed without needing heat. You can't do this with many different types of metals, because the metals have to be softer. They have to be pliable and be able to stretch and deform but without just cracking or shattering. The metals also have to be non-ferrous, meaning they can't have iron in them and aren't magnetic.
I wanted to thank you for the encouraging words as an entry level female welder. Your comment and demeanor talking about it seemed caring! It's amazing thank you! This is the path I've wanted for a while.

I have the money to go to school for underwater wedding, but I have asthma in which I have to take medicine daily to control. I’m really hoping my medicine will help me if I do decide to go through with my welding plans, as the medicine helps me enormously in normal situations.
Do I have to go to a welding school and then a commercial diving school to be a underwater welder?
Are most commercial divers ex military?
As a type one diabetic with a closed loop system pump, would i be able to pursue this as a career?
No
Was going to do this out of trade school way back… wish I had
What about limitations involving the inner ear?
You need to adjust the pressure while descending and going up again... Without it, you will get the bends and/or a burst eardrum or a collapsing lung (coming up) because you didn't adjust enough... Long story short: It requires decompression stops while moving vertically in water...
@@that_escalated_quickly2720 What I meant to say is,. . . Aren't there some would-be underwater welders who cannot pressurized their ears adequately and have to drop out?
@@punhoss ahhh k, sry for misunderstanding... Can't help you with that (not 100% sure) unfortunately have never heard of smt like that but could imagine it would be rare if smt like this existed... I think you can train/learn equalizing the pressure, but I'm not sure 100% as I mentioned... (atleast I needed to train this because I was bad at it...)
@@that_escalated_quickly2720 I have a lot of difficulty on airplanes with my ears... I imagine that the trouble is very similar.
@@punhossahh, OK I know nothing about that... But I'm rlly sry to hear about that... I hope this issue of yours gets better soon... Have a good one, cheers!
I’m a 13 yr old from England. I’m in year 9. Basically my dads friend from the army does this sort of thing and it sounds cool. I’m doing my options after the Christmas half term. I want to do this thing but I don’t know how to start off. Please can you help
Jayden Kennedy search google
Search how to stick weld and learn to stick weld as good as possible , buy a small stick welder to start off
My left ear enjoy that greatly.
Howard Maguire if you have 1 ear working … you will be rejected as a Diver … you can Work as a DJ … where you put the Headphone on 1 ear only 😆
I have it IEP in reading will I still pass the classes to become underwater weld????
I would imagine. Matters how severe
years ago sea con tried to teach 4 welders how to dive. Ended up teaching divers how to weld
Life expectancy? What messes you up ? The pressure
Dolphins
Sharks ☢️☢️🥶🥶🥶
Nah bro my friend said the sharks don’t mess with you

Is underwater welding only in demand in the Gulf of Mexico? Or there are jobs like in Southern California coastal areas?
I have a scuba diving license will that help me get a job
What does it take to be a hyperbaric welder?
Like he stated you would not have one job
When welding around animals, do they put up anything to shield the arc from their eyes? Like the shaded curtains around welding booths. Or does it even effect them?
Not trying to be an animal rights boohoo but I've welded with my dog around and she was looking straight at me when I lifted my hood
Topside welding is far more rewarding and fun than wet welding. But underwater rigging? That’s the shit!
I got into ocean Corp and hope to go soon, only fear is leaving my wife and 1yo daughter
With the money you're bringing back, you can take the whole family out to somewhere nice.
Well weld bro 👍👍
They deserve more than that.
So is the helmet like pressurized?
Hat is at ambient pressure of the water surrounding it, they’re not watertight either
im going to become one of the best commercial divers
There is Delta P is danger?
Aryan AP yes
Tyche Idk how did you even understand that question lol
Nice audio
Is being in water for too long end up being bad for your body? On the long run?
Awesome!! Second question is how much do they make. Great job dude.
Johnny Chingas alot
@@chasethompson7392 not necessarily
Well I did not even know we did underwater welding in Trinidad
cool cool
Is it possible to weld in the Moon? Outside from earth
