As we celebrate the Chinese Year of the Snake, we reflect on the deep cultural connections snakes have in Chinese tradition. From Bai Suzhen in the White Snake legend to the diverse meanings snakes hold in cultures around the world, the symbolism is rich and varied. Today, we are joined by a group of friends from around the world to celebrate the Year of the Snake together and explore their interpretations of the snake. How do they understand the snake in Chinese culture? What significance does it hold in their own traditions?

Happy Chinese New Year! 🧧 🎉 It’s correct to call it Chinese New Year because it’s based on Chinese calendar. Since I was young, we have never heard of people call it lunar new year. I find it funny at people getting upset for calling it Chinese New Year when they use Chinese calendar and culture. If anyone is not happy with the name Chinese New Year, then they should stop using calendar and Chinese culture.

    One would say
    Snake ❤❤
I have seen as a child,
we walked in the mountain and a little Black snake arrived in front of me,
I stood still and the man screaming it's poison
The snake moved up, but I didn't understand poison since I was a child,
it got up to my 🦵 leg
    So funny moment
    and
    i watched it until
    it got down
I remember the look such wonderful eyes 👀 and smile I think it was smiling with his eyes )
    and
    I remember such interesting animal
I do this day also smile since nothing happened
I have seen A yellow snake 💛 and almost White both so wonderful.
    We as humans are
    also poisonous behavior.
I respect the beauty of any animal
if my pathway will crossing with it.

    HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR.
Why is Tian Wei presenting the event when she can't even appreciate the sigificance of narrative! It is CHINESE NEW YEAR, stop the ambiguity and misleading with the inclusion of the word "Lunar" (Chinese Lunar New Year). When CGTN is one of the main English speaking channel from China, you should be careful on vocabulary usage.
Contrast that with Singapore's PM, Mr Lawrence Wong's address for the event: he dresses proudly and respectfully in red - he maybe of Chinese descent but he is still the head of a mix race nation. He straight forwardly wished all Singaporeans a "Happy Chinese New Year".
