I live in Edmonton and doing my bachelor's of science from the University of Alberta in computing science and statistics. I see so many Punjabis whose main motive is to buy iPhones, cars like Mustang and Doge Challengers, the urge to have a relationship with someone and pretending to be a boss by wearing stupid bell-bottom jeans. I did AYP(Alberta Youth Parliament) at the Alberta Legislative Building last week. We used to recite a line with the honourable speaker before every debate which states, "Life is not a goblet to be drained but a measure to be filled", I really want each and every Indian to understand it, the sooner the better.
That's actually very true ! I'm just coming to Canada in May intake but I've asked many other students with me about their motive to go abroad and trust me 😭 80% of them do not even know anything beyond basics . They just go in whatever course their counsellor is suggesting . Majority of them want to go abroad to show off , live luxurious life , have an iPhone or just date someone when their parents have spent lakhs to send them there 🤷🏻♀️
I wonder how Punjabis can afford this. I live in Surrey and see a lot of Punjabis at my gym driving Mustangs, Dodge, Jeep Wranglers, etc. But I am certain of one thing, and that is I see this trend with all those doing some random PG Diploma at a college with just one motive - PR. Same with malayalis too, where I’m from.
It's still not that bad. Most of my peers are non-Indians. I work for uber eats and meet all types of people. My rent is 550 with utilities included. It's all about how you grasp things and how you research for your college in India.
Crisp and Clear! Having travelled around Canada and living on the Atlantic side, I absolutely second you. Ontario wont offer any exposure and building your life as a new immigrant is 10x more difficult compared to NB or NS.
I like in Toronto downtown, I share my apartment with Afghani and Chinese. I work in a Mexican place, my colleagues are Philippines, Canadians and Mexicans. I enjoy japanese ramen to authentic Italian pizzas. It’s all about how you want to create and live your life.
Thanks for the video. You mentioned Alberta in the video, they have paused one stream in PNP program so its tough here as well. Even if they resume its going to get more difficult for sure.
In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world. There are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions, welfare, unemployment benefits, disability benefits and the numerous other programs, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia. Multiculturalism destroys the fabric and identity of a country. Socialism bankrupts a country.
I have to say this - this video is great for those who come to Canada - just to come to Canada, have no real skills, dont have ambitions beyond the PR and are happy working manual labour jobs (nothing wrong with these jobs but have no growth). But if you are ambitious, if you want to build on your experience/wealth, if you have skills - data, analytics, data science, tech, design, banking and get a university degree (I am an MBA from UofT) - You will not be able to settle anywhere in Canada beyond Toronto. And by god's grace - despite layoffs etc , you will be able to buy a condo on your own in the city, on one income too (within 5 years)- if you want to and work for it. Not to mention get opporunities in EU and US - which further bring $$$ and experience. But you need that mindset. Also, for your own sake - do you really want to move so far away, with any degree from a random ass college, to just to drive uber or work at Walmart? :) I can tell you a Toronto resident, we are fairly relieved with college kids moving away cos that makes space for the high earners/H1 B strugglers and corporate jobs - which helps the wages etc in professional setting and brings up the overall quality of the civic interactions you have and of course more taxes - which shows in the free events we take for granted in TO
Point! I am a UBC graduate myself and have been in Vancouver for the past 6 years. The education you do in this country will determine the opportunities you have in front of you. These incoming students will just blindly believe an agency and will end up in some college doing a PG Diploma.
Not sure why there's a negative connotation with pursuing a PG diploma (read: as long as it's related to your field and in demand). I have seen many succesful stories of folks pursuing their career further up (with a diploma) and folks with degree struggling to find anything. You can have an Ivy league degree and still be unemployed if you don't integrate the skills you have into your college life, social networking, connections and all that jazz. I mean, Gursahib is one prime example, man is notch high then many with degrees. He is well settled now and did his PG diploma from Lambton College. Difference is Universities don't give general admissions to folks targeting nothing but PR in their Canadian journey whereas a College welcomes such folks with open arms. As long as your goals, ambitions are clear to you and have a strategic plan to implement those, I don't see any hurdle stopping you from achieving what you desire. @stanthomas165
hey, sir!! Your reply have given me some confidence! I'm coming to Ontario to study diploma in computer engineering applications in sept and would love to hear your opinion regarding it. Is it worth it study it in Niagara college, Wellands? Howz the job opportunity for me in the future?
Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. During the COVID lockdowns, many people in apartments (or major cities) went wild wanting to buy homes everywhere (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs have soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. Simultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum SKYROCKETED. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Ontario) around 300 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students skyrocketed too. Averaging around 1,000 per day in 2023 alone. Hospitals then hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. A severe housing crisis has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. The majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Neighborhoods now know that most international students are primarily seeking a ticket to come to Canada for PR. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. Bottom-line. Now westerners want greedy people in other countries to stop marketing/lying to their own people about access to PR or citizenship ... or accommodation/jobs ... being easy (to get). And for greedy westerners in the mix to be ashamed of themselves for hurting students. Not all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. false asylum claims, contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud. 'Agents' doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires or desperation. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. Private colleges are being investigated. Some not respecting Canadian ways (harmony). Then this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion primarily happening in Ontario and BC. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional. Canadians are not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people to be okay. Everyone I know is HAPPY with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions). Including multi-generation long-term Asian Canadians.
True Paaji, most of us come Canada to get international exposure but so far that’s not the case. I’m a student of Lambton college with 100% Asians 98% of Indian students
Sir g the situation is so grim… I am moving back to Italy, as I already had the PR from Europe. The growth is there but an individual needs at least 4 years after study to settle normally. But if you are talented in your field of study I would say it’s best to stay in canada.

My son lives in Pembrooke. Hard to find a place to rent. House prices are lower but finding a job there would be difficult as its an army town. All the best for your future.

No sorry. I don't live there, my son does. Alot of people have moved into area with little increase in housing.
