The sound of the bass guitar on this track is simply amazing. Peter Hook, Steve Severin, and Simon Raymonde captured such amazing tones with their distorted basses. Beautiful.

Flanger, and Simon Gallup used it to great effect too.

In 1987, my possessions were simple: a futon, a turntable, two large speakers, and a bookcase brimming with books. Reflecting on those days, my turntable seemed almost like a shrine to the Cocteau Twins. I would often turn off the lights, play their music, and light candles to set the mood ✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦

I'm like you first heard their music a few years ago I think it was oh the wonderful Pandora from Treasure that introduced me to their world. Right after I heard their sound it had an instant impact on me almost like a spiritual movement and I haven't looked back since. I'd love to share some music especially with a fellow Cocteau Twins fan ;).

As a young man, and a "Cocteau Twin" fan from the early 1980's, I somehow
imagined that I was hearing melodies and rythms reminiscent of a celtic
lullaby, or sometimes what I imagined to be a Druidical rite! I thought these
things years before I became aware of the bands "Caledonian" origins!

talent on loan from God. what great musicians. love this sound. the Cure has this also, in their early years. who came first? were they aware of each other? the Cure went top 40, & CT didn't.is that a good thing or not for both parties. would they change situations if they could?

there must be something in the air in sweden, which made liz fraser delivered a top notched live performance. i have often been disappointed seeing and hearing her live, but here she really delivered vocally. any chance you may have videos of dead can dance's live performance in stockholm from 1984 and bel canto's dewy fields.

  • @MarzianDREAM

there's one thing i don't like very much in cocteau twins studio recordings. liz's voice is mixed too low and with too much reverb IMO.and that's a real pity, 'cause their music is terrific. that's why i like so much live performances like this one where we can hear all the colors and appreciate how she plays with it.

I walked out of there and got my first Mazzy star CD.
