As good as Larry is, without Steve and Rudy playing and singing along he wouldn't be half the entertainer he is. The bond of a lifetime of performing together makes the act bigger than any one of them. In their day they were one of the best acts going. They sang O Canada and the Star Spangled Banner without accompaniment before the All Star baseball game in Cincinatti and before one of the World Series Games in Kansas City in '85 and got a thunderous applause for doing so.
I love this song! I wish someone had talked to Larry Gatlin about his wardrobe though. Between the scarf and the snapping, it's a little disturbing. Vocal excellence anyhow.
You have totally missed the ball here on all three of these guys, sir. Steve and Rudy both have had solo careers and fair ones, to be sure. Larry went to Broadway playing Will Rogers. He writes for others. He played countless guitar sessions (uncredited, too) for several stars.
