Went to a friends birthday party as a kid and played this game for the first time. Everyone went outside afterwards and I stayed inside the entire time playing this until the party was over. Not much has changed.

4:47 Phychosis, Rey Mysterio Jr, 5:10 Ultimo Dragon and 6:44 Han Zo Mon were the charcters me and my brother always played as. We had no idea who they were but we loved em.

This was the game me and my brother got the Christmas we got our N64. We were both hardcore WCW fans and this game was released at the height of WCWs popularity and wrestlings in general. Probably the 2nd greatest wrestling game ever made after WWF no mercy.
What an amazing memory! Those were the good old days.
To be honest I played more this game than no mercy. I loved the roster of this game.
No mercy was overated. I adored wrestlemania 2000 an no mercy felt like a step back to me. Probably because the faces looked so off an the gane bug.

An incredible roster for what is probably my all time favourite wrestling game. Here are all characters in WCW/nWo Revenge,
Of all the characters in this game, AKI Man is the only character I love playing as.
He's based on Japanese legend Mitsuharu Misawa. I've always liked his move set in the game.
The roster would have been even better if that little bitch Bischoff would have allowed Flair to be a part of it.

Jonathan Turbide if my memory serves me correct he’s sort of in the game, I believe he’s a manager for someone ( can’t remember who) and if you have a empty controller not being used you can take temporary control of him or any other manager.

DDP was great in this game. He could do 3 different versions of the Diamond Cutter. That was pretty advanced for the time.

My favorite characters were Sting, La Parka and Raven because of how cool they looked. I started watching wrestling in 2003 and this game introduced me to WCW.

The best, deepest roster of all time is in Fire Pro wrestling Returns. 325 wrestlers, from The Funks to Nakamura, from Daniel Bryan to Lou Thesz, from Rikidozan to AJ Styles, to mma legends like the Gracie family and women's wrestlers like Bull Nakano and on and on....no game can touch that roster.

I remember Alex being pretty OP in this game. I think doing his dance taunt actually charged him up. I'd troll my friends with that taunt throughout the match then get a three count on the first German I hit!
All taunts built your special, his was just so long it was one of the most noticeable. La Parka had a big boost too.

I remember the first time I played this game. I was 7 years old and my cousin had just bought the game a night before. So he came to my house early in the morning to surprise my brother and I that he got the game. So we got up to play it. That intro got us so hyped! We only played for a few minutes, since we had to go to school. I remember not wanting to go to school, and spent the entire day thinking about that intro and gameplay at school.
Amazing game, so revolutionary for its time! And the added characters were awesome. On a sad note I realized 9 characters from this game are now dead 😢

This game should've had Arn, Flair, Mongo, and playable Rick Rude. Maybe another WCW section with some of the notable veteran D-List wrestlers like Bobby Eaton, Hector Guerrero, and Chris Adams.
Still a really stacked roster though. Great time to be a fan.
Ric Flair was supposed to be in the game, but he was having contract disputes with WCW at the time and he had to be removed.

Bobby Eaton's "Alabama Jam" Finisher would've been INCREDIBLE on this game, especially if went into a pin like other high-flying moves in the game did.

I always used Alex Wright so I could taunt my opponent to death, nobody else had a more humiliating taunt that Alex's. I'd just drop kick and taunt all day, pissed the fuck out of my friends lol (Check out the taunt @ 5:20 of the video)
That taunt pissed me off so damn much when I played this as a kid 😂

The sound track, probably the best of the games done on this engine.
Back in the day when it came out I played this religiously after school until I had to go to bed no bullshit. I love this game so much. I had an older brother 10 years older than me. So when I was a kid he had moved out so this was my only form of entertainment and my parents were alway working. Luckily I still have my og n64. Literally only thing I have from my childhood.
I remember me and my brother would always play this and just to troll him i always pick Goldberg and just spam The Spear over and over. Ah good times

I always picked Jericho, he's my favorite wrestler of all time, also there was a moment I picked La Parka, Mortis and Han Zo Mon on other titles, and I had a rivalry with Dr Frankenstein because I lost to him and that moment I picked Rey Mysterio
When you say "on other titles", do you mean other games or on the other championship belts in the game?
Also, I'm sure you know or heard by now, Dr. Frankenstein and the others from 5:30 on were based on real pro-wrestlers of that time.

Best wrestling game ever made in my opinion, me and my brother used to have a couple of friends come round and play 4 player... good times. Juventude was my go to guy lol.

The only thing missing was entrance music. Besides that great game
IF this game had :
entrance themes for the wrestlers,
different ring looks (as far as the turnbuckle pads colors),
running grapples,
and match types (like a regular steel cage),
this game would be in BEST Pro-Wrestling video game EVER conversation universally.
I used to play as the Executioner because he had the Power Bomb.
His character may be made up, but that IS a real pro-wrestler of that time period.
Billy Kidman was the most underrated character.

In my years of playing this game I’ve done a lot of CPU vs CPU comparisons of wrestlers and one who always seems to rise to the top was Jekel from EWF due to his toughness and submissions.
I carried Jekel’s legacy on into other AKI wrestling games building up his gimmick.
His finishing combo that was unbeatable was a belly to back German suplex off the ropes where you have your legs wrapped in the ropes. This move pulls you back up to the top rope after performing it setting up the next super into a flying elbow and then have enough time for a submission finisher. It was OP but so was Jekel. Lol.
Wasn’t ever really sure who he was based off of though.
See what happens when you put anyone from the game against Jekel in a CPU vs CPU match.

Imagine paying full price for a wrestling game, and getting the entire roster of wrestlers for free. Yeah I lived in the peak era of gaming. Glad I had new exciting games every 2-3 years and not just 10 years of EA reselling/reskinning games, or 10 years of Fortnite or 10 years of GTA V LOL

Highly debatable. I disagree. My top 2 are WWF SD-HCTP and WWF No Mercy.
That said, I 💯% respect your opinion. I LOVED WCW/nWo Revenge, it's an All-Time favorite of mine.

I always liked using kim chee and han zo mon. I would use kim chee on wcw world tour as well.

It's funny how Eric Bischoff doesn't have any 'finishers' in this game, because he's not a wrestler. Always appreciated that little attention to detail.
They easily could have given him some random move for his Special, but like you say they didn't and kept his moves realistic to him. Made him feel different because of it, too.
He has two special diving attacks off the turnbuckle (otherwise, he just taunts). But that’s it.
That being said, pressing strong grapple gives Bischoff a roundhouse kick that has KO potential.

TheHero MegaGallade That’s my guess since he has a model but not attire of his own (has Sting’s by default). They created his model and either ran out of time or were told not to include him for some reason.

I could be wrong, but I THINK it's AJPW Legend Kawada.
Other than Han Zo Mon, Shogun, Dr. Frank, Kim Chee, and AKI/THQ Man, they should've kept the Japanese wrestlers the way they actually looked the same way they did in WCW/NWO World Tour. That, and they should've had 2 more titles are my only complaints with this gem.
I commented this in another thread, IF Revenge had :
1. Running grapples
2. Different colored turnbuckle pads like they did in real life
(My thing, nobody has to agree)
3. A couple more match types (ESPECIALLY a Steel Cage match)
4. And POSSIBLY the wrestlers actual Entrance Music
This games ends up universally being argued as THE GREATEST Pro-Wrestling video game EVER, IF these features were there, in MY humble opinion.
Gotdamn the graphics were rough but the gameplay was Legendary.

The graphics may not be the most top-notch for you, the gameplay blows away most of the Pro-Wrestling games released after it though.

Not surprising when it was made by the same developers using the same engine, etc. Same goes for No Mercy, Revenge, World Tour and the Virtual Pro Wrestlings!

I wish Revenge just had a couple other features. It would be universally discussed as one of, if not THE GREATEST EVER, with just a couple of added features. I love Revenge though.
