In Pennsylvania our Praying Mantis is the State insect and we can't keep them but we can buy other species of them that aren't native to here. I believe there is no problem keeping Walking Sticks here. A large one was on my sons house window this Fall.
@@Plasmaspy they really breed FAST. We've had some for some time ( I live in Germany ) and first, they did nothing. But then they exploded. From 2 we went to 120 or so?

@@Plasmaspy we've had them in a closed terrarium. Luckily they didn't escaped. But I think that's the Reason, why you're not allowed to keep them. Here in Germany they wouldn't survive. In the US, they probably would be everywhere.
that incredible smile on your little ones face (6:35) interacting with the graceful sea lion (fur seal?) pretty wonderful moment, thanks for sharing your adventure with us (nearing the bleak, will-winter-ever-end time of year...ugh)
Great vid...loved the frogs. Your little girl as precious. Thanks for having her in the video. I'm from Oregon and my daughter had two walking sticks (she was abke to bring them home when summer break started. They were classroom pets).
My Mom used to take me to the St.Louis Zoo when I was a kid about the size of your little one. It's very cool to see modern Moms still doing things like that. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Years ago I was at the reptile house at the Louisville Kentucky Zoo. The reptile house is surrounded my a water moat. I saw a snake swimming across the moat and I knocked on the reptile keeper's door and told him about the snake swimming in the moat. He advised me that the park has naturally-occurring reptiles. I told him that I have an advanced degree in organismal biology and that the snake in the moat was not from North America. About 30-minutes later he was in a small boat on the moat with a net trying to catch the snake...a constrictor of some kind. LOL
I think the Brachypelma is a hamorii, theres an actually really simple way to tell them apart they both have orange patellas but the lighter band at the bottom of the tibia is shaded orange too in smithis but is cream coloured in hamoriis. so smithis have two orange bands per leg and hamoriis only have one. also i was so nervous seeing it climb like that on glass they should give it a less tall cage theyre actually pretty crap climbers i mean theyre probably fine on wood or bark etc but theyre not super sticky on glass and plastic like lotsve arboreals are
Hey Kat! I’m not sure how long it’s been since you’ve visited, but we were there on President’s day. They have a new T. Stirmi enclosure. Except, I’m fairly confident it’s a T. Albopolosum. Definitely not a Stirmi!
Yup, that was good. Gave me some ideas for enclosures :). Btw, I took my hobby level up, because day ago I ordered a crested gecko. It will be cool to keep something different than Ts.
They are amazing geckos to keep for sure I really enjoy them my self. They are easy to care for and the best part about therr set up is that u can keep live plantain with them and a nice waterfall down the back too . Will Gina be your first reptile ?
@@JPsPetNation eee...if by Gina you mean crested gecko then 'yes' ^^ Thanks to my friend I was able to order one baby gecko 'patternless red' in good price and from trusted person:)
I have done of them water bugs you sew they are really cool . Bot want to take a tag from one but they are amazing. Looks like your little one had a good time
So, I live in st.louis and i was super surprised when you said st.louis zoo lmao I didnt realize one of my fave tarantula keepers was so close 😭😭😭💖💖 love you so much!!!
I was watching through this video just thinking "Man that zoo looks really familiar... Maybe it's just a similar design to mine?" Then I realized you're from St. Louis and this is the zoo I've been going to since I was a kid. lol.
That arboreal "B. Smithi" was really funny, never seen one that high up before ^^. My local pet store is selling an arboreal A. Geniculata though. Also that's 99% a B. Hamorii, as the chelicerae are faintly orange instead of completely black :-)
It's raining here, too. Don't you have more Ts than they do? You could start your own zoo. Except there might be crowds. Scratch that idea. Still haven't got my c Darlingi because of the weather. But it is going to happen soon.
MicroWilderness just sent my Caribena Versicolor and ???...Arizona Blondes...two of them. I used your code and they are great. Thank you for keeping me educated, entertained and you make your videos fun to watch. Just got a GoPro. Can't wait to try it out but cleaning out the house since all four kids are moved out now. Geeez. I have saved everything but one room will be for Ts, Frogs and making videos. Okay, I'm gonna stop writing a Novel now. Guess I need a Horn Worm.
Hey Kat. As usual, I woke up ridiculously early and I'm going through your videos since I watch you on a large flat screen through a Roku and need to give you all the Thumbs up and save your vids to my Tarantula Kat playlist from my computer. Hoping you can help, I'm going to check the $ Tree here and see if they have the little square enclosure boxes I saw that you got. I've also never been to an Expo and don't even know if I've even heard of one in Charlotte. Yes, I'm in NC. I also need a label maker and saw yours but don't know where to get one. I have searched and can't find one that makes the small labels like I need. I will try searching for you on FB or message you on Instagram. Would love to visit and go to an Expo. I'm up to 11 in my collection but with no husband, I can't place an order for 50 like I want to LOL. I love your channel and have been watching you for a long time now. I promise I will try to comment more often. Love your Horn worm videos. So Funny and can't believe Petko didn't remember what he named that one T. I know you know what I'm talking about. Hugs from NC.
HA HA HA HA 70 DEGREES HAAAA!.....you guys get that dang blizzard that came right after that? you're in missouri, right? RIGHT? DID YOU GET THAT CURSED BLIZZARD?! (I know, has nothing to do with the video..I just laughed cause I was like YEAH, YEAH?!..IT WAS 70 HERE TOO AND THEN BAM SNOWSTORM!)
Need a crash course in UA-cam editing and etc...Loved the Hot Sauce challenge too and you and Eric were so Chill that you guys conquered that challenge. Sorry everyone else. :-)
St louis Zoo is thé best!!! But I don't go as often as is like because as you mentioned THERE IS ALWAYS A HUUUUUUUUGE CROWD! I too don't like big obnoxious crowds. LoL.

i adore seeing you include your daughter in stuff like this. You made a good video for your channel and you treated her to a day at the zoo
I love the St. Louis Zoo. Best part of growing up in the midwest
"Missouri doesn't allow people to own stick insects" that's an oddly specific insect to ban.
Here in the uk they're legal but they really can breed fast and eat alot of leaves very quickly

Just found your channel and I love it already, we need more people with your energy in the hobby !
This was a super fun video to watch. Thanks Kat
Thanks for bringing us to the zoo with you!
Love it, cant wait to get back.

Petco has no water dishes.

I hope kat gets more subscribers than exotics. I’d rather watch a visit to the zoo than a bunch of screaming relatives freaking out over a snake.

We were there on Sunday, not very busy either since the Super Bowl.
Your video just capped off and awsome day. Thank you.
This video is so wholesome. Rad mom time!
Recognized that giant beetle statue immediately. St. Louis has one of my all time favorite zoos
I came across a trio of peruphasma shultei or black beauty stick insects at a reptile show in MN a couple months back.
awesome video! much better setup on the bugs and spiders than then Cincinnati zoo
My local aquarium closed a few months back and I'm super bummed about that because I can't see any tarantulas!

Those are some pretty neat enclosures for arthropods. I don't think it's easy to find better ones in the hobby. Good video.

You can own phasmids in the US. I think the only one that's banned is the Indian stick insect.
I got given some David Bowie huntsman slings but died
I need more places like that near me
This must have been Sunday or Monday. The weather was beautiful on both of those days.
