- I give my impressions of the Fifine K688, which was provided to me by Fifine for the purposes of making this video - they did not have any input on the content.
If you would like a chance to win this mic, all you have to do is give your thoughts on what you hear in the video, and then explain how you would put this mic to use in your own setup. I will choose a winner at random on Sunday 9/17/2023.
This is a microphone that is ready to use right out of the box, with options for USB or XLR.
You can hear comparisons between the tone of the audio captured via XLR and USB, as well as this mic to the Fifine K669d and the Beyerdynamic M201 TG.
You can purchase the mic here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8SNVK5K

This one has always stood out among the other budget options that clog the market. a totally passable sound. If I had a company that relied on Zoom meetings or anything like that, I’d buy every employee one of these or a Q2U and require everyone upgrade their sound from EarPods and internal mics. Doesn’t take much to get solid audio!
It would work for that perfectly. I see you use the Ethos - I loved mine, but the low-frequency resonance in the capsule was just too much and made my voice sound very muffled.
@@finloslives Yeah, anytime I use it for VO I take the foam off (but I use the KSM32 more for that). I have a complicated relationship with it for podcasting. A little EQ really does bring it to life nicely. I've recently found some good processing I dig. I also have found a good distance from it over time. Eating it like a dynamic really does overwhelm the low-end. I buy and sell a lot of mics because it's fun, but the Ethos is one I always come back to. Will never leave the locker. I do find that it's almost too lifelike when in a podcast setting with someone using a typical dynamic mic. But no matter how many times I rotate a different mic in for a show, it's amazing how often the Ethos finds its way back onto the boom arm.
Im really interested in this mic. It seems to be a great mic and, since i dont have a uab audio interface, the usb and XLR connections are great option. Im wanting to start a podcast, so niw considering this as a strong option!
It's yours! email me some shipping info and I'll send it your way. finlos@finloslives.com
This thing has some strange mid frequency struggle IMHO
Yes - it sounds like what it costs... cheap.
