Probably about the hand strength. Both what Ermes and Devon did to Levan was way beyond what anybody else could do since his streak started. Everybody was freaking out when Laletin had a battle with Levan in round 1. What Devon did is way more impressive but everybody simply dismisses it because of Devon hate bandwagon.
We are talking about that day specifically. Furthermore, Levan said many times he was not his best against Ermes and Devon smacked Ermes.
Laletin did way better than Devon. Devon didn't stop Levan at all, Levan stopped himself because he was afraid about his wrist.

I rarely agree with Michael but here I agree with him 100%. Anyone who thinks that just because it's Brian Shaw, if he comes to armwrestling he will be fighting with Levan within a year is delusional and has little clue about this sport. I would give Brian 3-4 years at least of hard, egoless and dedicated work to even get and scratch the top 10, let alone the top dog.
Anybody that actually knows anything about armwrestling doesn’t think Brian Shaw will be a threat to Levan anytime soon. He will easily break the top 10 within 2 years though. This is a man with extreme dedication and strength. Don’t underestimate one of the strongest people to have ever walked this earth.

Brian has always been a fan of strength (and grip) sports. There was never any "begging". It was more of a "when".
And since Shaw officially retired from strongman competitions just last year, this is the moment. I hope he likes it, that is one diciplined human being.
Brian isn't stupid. You don't compete in the strongman world for as long as he did and have longevity without being very smart with your body. Brian has been doing arm wrestling based exercises ever since Derek Smith visited him a while back. He's known for being smart an technical. I mean if Eddie Hall listened to him on a vid recently, he would have not pulled a Lat again. lol

Yeah, amateur armwrestlers gotta understand that to go even slightly farther in this sport than just the common armwrestler, one ought to have a coach that knows what he's talking about, knows all the lifts necessary but also will work with what's given in his/her client, and is also very experienced in some type of pro armwrestling.
That's why I heavily doubt that Devon would make a great coach. Whenever he talks, the bias to his personal experience is certainly very palpable. And just like John, Todd or Michael he's a very extraordinary arm wrestler with a very unique path and set of strengths. Which I believe does not apply to 95% of arm wrestlers out there.
@@datbunneh3671devon would make a trash coach, he isn't technical at all, only he can understand the language he speaks, larry had a super hard time understanding stuff, and his wins which come from cheating in the setup, can't be replicated by everyone. I'd say john or engin would make a better coach because of their simplistic approach.

He's already been at for a year.
He didn't give up on MMA. He got screwed over. He was offered a contract, he did the training for the match and they breached the contract by postponing his match indefinitely.
Brian knows what he is doing. He is extremely intelligent and has reached feats of strength greater than all but 1 or 2 people ever to exist. He’s not going to rush into anything. He is methodical and a perfectionist in everything he does. He will be just fine.
Michael Todd has not got the same body structure as it as Brian Shaw so the problem is is he's giving a point of view of his body that's more acceptable to breaking down where is Brian Shaw has had more overall strength training and it's probably got a better build up and a base so if he started specific strength training towards arm wrestling at this point I think it probably would shock the world in no time at all... Especially with somebody like Devon training him
No. Hes giving a "point of view" based on what hes observed as well as what hes experienced lol. If you paid attention to guys coming to the sport youd come to the same conclusion. ITS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS to think brian can come to armwrestling for the first time at 42ish and within 1 year just beat the best armwrestler whos ever lived. Thats such a ridiculous expectation and one that any and all history in armwrestling is at odds with.

I’d really like to see Brian train with Shawn Lattimer. Guy is a fantastic coach with experience in the sport and the world of strong men.
Anyone who thinks 42 is too old for armwrestling doesn’t know anything about arm wrestling. Todd Hutchings, John Breznk, and Devon Larratt to name a few. Brian Shaw is a freak of nature and one of the strongest people to have ever walked this earth. This isn’t some random dude off the streets lol
I started at 43 (last year) and I was never athletic. I also have many nuerological issues and can't stand very long, basically one step away from being disabled and I found out I am not half bad at the sport. I won't be a competitor ever, but I can beat most of the locals and hold some big guys at bay. Brian will be great at this sport if he puts his mind to it!

whoever thinks brian can be a contender for levan in one year is someone who knew about armwrestling yesterday. or a devon fangirl (that, in its majority, knew about armwrestling yesterday too, along with their first period, which probably happened yesterday too)
a more realistic view: not even in 10 years of pure and the best armwrestling training possible brian can reach levan level. maybe if he was more than 10 years younger he could become a contender. but in his 40's, thats plain and simple impossible. after some years of training he can definitely give us some very entertaining matches against other freaks from other sports that gave armwrestling a try like him, guys like kiril sarychev, leonidas, larry (who btw are VERY strong at the table, mainly the first two, if brian manages to beat kiril or leonidas in a few years, I will be VERY surprised). but thats it. maaaybe a top 10 guy if everything goes the best possible way and he adapts the best possible way. but thats it. no way he can reach levan level being a 40-year-old who never trained armwrestling before.
we have guys almost brian size (derek and kurdecha) with very well over 10 years dedicated to the sport, competing at the highest level, who are still miles from levan. no way someone the same size who never trained for it at over 40 years old would reach a higher level than them. some guys just dont understand what "the best who ever did it" really means. this is who levan is in this sport, deserves more respect.

No one is taking the respect away from Levan, everyone recognizes him as the undisputed number 1. People are just getting hyped because Brian is a former strongman which give's him a lot of base and overall strength. I think he will become a top 30 guy in about 3 years and top 10 in 5 years. He is a freak and has grip on par with Vitaly.
Let's also not forget that he is a very dedicated individual, he always aims to do his best in everything he does. Also he would probably take pancakes 🤷

I know that Brian currently lack experience and technique, but as always it doesn't come instantly, it takes time. Brian will take that time and then his opponents are going to get a reality check, if you know what I mean

Arm wrestling isn't just about raw strength, but also techniques, mindset, table IQ, experiences, genetics, etc.

Grip is probably the most overrated thing for arm wrestling honestly. Most matches go to straps and it’s a lot more irrelevant. Riser, pronation and even side pressure are not things you naturally work on with general strength. Why he wants to press, that’s the most natural thing for someone that does general strength.

If Brian commits to arm wrestling to a certain extent, he can definitely become a high level super heavyweight in the next 5 years. But because of his age, those 5 years are all that he’s realistically going to get at that level. Everyone always says that age doesn’t matter in arm wrestling, when that is just completely incorrect at the super heavyweight level, and only really applies to lighter weight classes. The older that you get, the more difficult and detrimental it is to hold on to all of that size and mass.

Get that 40's old shit outta your minds. Thats not old and noteven close. Getting past 60 is old and 80 is old. We don't get old we get better. I am 44 and my recovery time is better then when i was in my 20's and i still look like i am in my 20's. Treat your body and mond right and therest will follow. Huge part of it though is genetics. But 40's isn't old. When i was in my 20's at 285 with 11% body fat ar 6' i had more injuries and set backs that was unreal and i was natural. Had some serious health issues that set me back 10 years now bouncing back like never before and feel better then my 20's.

Love your channel, but Brian isnt just any big strong guy. He's a professional athlete. He trains intelligently and methodically. Among his many accomplishments, he won the world's strongest man 4 times and has one of the strongest grips ever measured. Brute strength isnt everything, but it matters a lot. Brian probably needs less than 6 months to set record numbers on the back pressure and pronation lifts. He's a hairless silverback for crying out loud!

I think Brian Shaw VS Khalid could be a good match to start with. I also think Brian’s age is a huge factor in whether he is successful or not in the near future. He has a 10 year window probably to get really good. He may not be near as good as we think but he could also end up being amazing. It’s really hard to say with a guy like him.
