Absolutely beautiful tone....you have managed to capture that cello like beauty that many players lack when attempting the Cliff's solo tone...well done my friend...great stuff!
Thank you so much!
Close your eyes and you could easily mistake this for Cliff playing. Incredible!
Thank you so much, man. Really appreciate it!!
So beautiful, never seen anyone capture Cliff's tone quite like this before.
this has to problably the most accurate tone i have ever heard ! Absolutley amazing !
Thank you!
Honestly, I still think there’s room for improvement which I’m currently working on and I gotta say: if you wanna see someone who’s tone is identical then you should check out @Watto.. He’s a big inspiration for me so I highly suggest checking him out as well as his other content such as his A7X and Pantera covers.
Cheers!
In all meinen Jahren kann ich sagen. Er ist der beste und mein Sohn Seydi hat mich darauf gebracht. 😅
The sustain on those Aria’s was sick. Cliff made a wise choice for his playing style 🤘
Nailed it
So accurate the live version 🔥
Nice bends!
Thanks, those light-gauge strings really help out!
HOLY FUCKING CRIST
I love the lick at 1:44 the tone is phenomenal
This is very underrated! You've just earned yourself a new subscriber
Thanks man!
hey man this sounds amazing!
Thanks man!
@@RilicTV anytime keep it up!!!
Nailed it!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nailed it ❤
cool tone!!!
Excellent!!!!! 👍
Thanks man!
Great playing and the tone is spot on.
Hey man! I love the tone so much and I was wondering what delay you use? Is it in GarageBand or built into the amp? Thank you!
The delay comes from GarageBand but it’s mostly reverb!
There is no fire here, but it's LIT 🔥
👍🏻🔥👍🏻
Dude that sounds amazing, i just got a morley power fuzz wah , would love to know what settings you are using on the wah ?
Thanks man! There’s not a lot I can say about the settings of the Morley other than the boost being toggled off. I’m gonna make an updated video to this though as my Morley broke down and it doesn’t handle low or high frequencies that well so expect more to come! I just turned 17 so repairing the Morley shouldn’t be too hard unless I’ve got nothing to spare after I purchase a Mesa Boogie Bass 400+
Where can I find the tabs for this ?
Now I might be wrong, but at some points I think I hear some Fight Fire With Fire, then it turns into a slower version of Creeping Death during Pulling teeth and then transitions to the end of that solo. (Might be wrong but that's what I'm hearing, be sure to correct me btw.) Also, love the addition at the end of the Pulling Teeth solo, of when you chug the A and it transitions well into FWTBT!
Very interesting that you’re hearing parts of Creeping and Fight Fire!
In this video I was really attempting to play Cliffs version of Star Spangled Banner and his solo before FWTBT in Metal Hammer Festival, 85'. I personally think this attempt was pretty sloppy but I’ll make sure to upload a better version of this video tone-wise and playing-wise.
@RilicTV So, from around 2:24 - 2:30 you can hear the Fight Fire With Fire chugging style that he used and from 2:31 - 2:34 you can hear a slower Creeping Death bass riff. Atleast it sounds like Creeping Death on first hear, I'd have to listen to the bass track again. Also, you played Cliff's Spangled Banner real well, man!
Plus, since Cliff loved improvising different basslines into his solos, I could possibly be right in my theory. I know for sure he was playing FFWF there though.
I hope/wish Morley will start making the wah boost again in a slightly newer design that lasts longer like their current pedals. The unique tone of the tel ray pedals are just unbeatable and I can’t find another wah pedal that can do that
I’m pretty sure they already have the modern PWB for sale now!
@@RilicTV I know they got the 20/20 boost pedal now (which sounds
horrible lol) but I meant actually remaking the tel Ray with the same/similar functions and sound.
Btw what did you use to record the audio? I hear some reverb so idk how you got that
@@THESONICSPEEDDEMON I used an iRig mobile audio interface, connected to GarageBand! Works very well except for when I try to record clean signals so I’ll have to upgrade from the one i currently have.
@@RilicTVI just got an EQ pedal and I tested it with just distortion and I got pretty close to this tone. Shows how much of a beast the boost pedal itself was
Hi. Whats the brand of strings that you are using? Thanks
I'm using D’addario nickel roundwounds 40-100 gauge! I discovered from my previous Aria bass which had rotosounds, that the frets had been pretty worn down so when I got this SB-1000 I wanted to prevent that from happening as soon as I could.
i like the pitch you tuned your bass at. what number of Hz did you use?
445-450 I believe!
@@RilicTVThank you so much!
How is your msm modded cs-2 different from a regular cs-2?
Great question!
According to an old reverb listing of the same pedal, the description says as follows:
- Noise reduction.
- Better transparency.
- Brighter tone and buffer.
@@RilicTVThanks. Do you know what pickup is used in the aria?
@@thesmallone556 I believe it’s a Kent Armstrong MB-1E replacement pickup!
What tuning is this?
E standard at 440hz!
Cliff was unique. AT THE TIME
Now he’s be just amongst the other huge pile bass players out there
You're playing for whom the bell tolls the wrong way
no he isnt
@@Jameshargrove0706 he is. Watch any video of Cliff playing it live and compare them.
That's the wrong and easy way of playing it. Both Metallica's recent bassists play that way and don't even sound's good
@@dead4595I'm not trying to replicate a live improv of the song, just kinda did whatever to demonstrate the tone. However, it’s hard to say that I played this wrong because there are so many shows where Cliff would improvise and do something new every time like with Stockholm 84', Donnington and Metal Hammer Festival 85'. All of them sound different
@@RilicTV but that's the thing, cliff always had a new and innovative tone, but however he never did changed the order of the notes. And that's what you did and both Metallica's bassists always do.
This song was inspired by a song called "come, sweet death" by J.S. Bach, wich Cliff really liked. So the intro of damage Inc as well, so it's really upsetting to me seeing someone specially the bassist's from Metallica changing the order of the notes and don't even sounding good.
Cliff always played the chords in this order: first chord 4x with slide to the last note, then up to the second chord 2x, then back to the first one again 1x and then the third chord 2x with vibrato in the last note - slide and the 4 chord finishing.
( I'm talking about the main part, without any improvement, additional notes or "solo" )
@@RilicTV but i really liked your tone anyway, you did a good job
