ETR 470 (Pendolino) and other trains in Northern Attica, Greece! [4K 60FPS]

- One more week of trials of the ETR 470! This time I filmed it in 3 different locations in the span of 2 days:
Near the Avlonas area, in the tunnels north of Agios Stephanos and in our favourite station, Dekelia!
But the video is not only about the ETR, I have also included various shots of local and intercity trains I filmed these days and also a few more shots from the past months that i haven't uploaded in any video yet, including 1 shot of a short RailCargo train passing Dekelia station!

The Greek landscape is beautiful.Pendolino came out, but I rode in Italy and Finland. I want to go around the Greek railways someday.
You should know beforehand that the tilting has been turned off for its operations in Greece, other than that it looks great and i can't wait to travel with it!

It seems that OSE has increased the number of carriages from the previous 6 to 8-9 now which is good. I hope they paint the wagons correctly and do something about the graffiti. Would be nice if the night train Athens-Thessaloniki can restart and that the international night trains hopefully can start from Athens as well now that the line is much faster.
I agree on everything you said! The carriages have increased though due to covid, only 65% (I think) of the seats are available, the rest need to be free for spacing. I hope that they keep the carriages when they can operate normally again though, cause in the past many trains were full but didn't add more cars then.
Night trains can't be high speed, though.
Βιντεάρα με πολλές μέρες μπλεγμένες αλλά και πολλά ωραία, νέα δεδομένα στον Ελληνικό σιδηρόδρομο! Προσέχεις πολύ τα πλάνα και φαίνεται...η κόρνα του 470 στη Δεκέλεια...σαν να πλησιάζει TGV...
Only one thing I dilsike about this video. The graffiti on the trains :(
Sadly clean trains are the last priority of the operators here in Greece...

Φίλε αν αγαπάς πραγματικά την Ελλάδα και φτιάχνεις αυτά τα ωραία κινηματογραφικά στιγμιότυπα που χαιρόμαστε να βλέπουμε γιατί μας αρέσουν τα τρένα - αμαξοστοιχίες, τότε θα ήθελα να σε ενημερώσω ότι Ελλάδα δεν είναι μόνο τα τρένα, τα βουνά, οι κάμποι και οι παραλίες.. Ελλάδα είναι πρώτα απ' όλα η γλώσσα η Ελληνική η οποία είναι το καλύτερο λογισμικό λειτουργίας του εγκεφάλου απ' όλες τις άλλες γλώσσες του κόσμου γιατί μπορεί να κάνει περισσότερους συνδυασμούς σκέψεων απ' οποιαδήποτε άλλη γλώσσα και με αυτόν τον τρόπο μας βοηθάει να καταλαβαίνουμε περισσότερα πράγματα και καλύτερα.. από το video σου όμως απουσιάζει τελείως η Ελληνική γλώσσα.. σε Έλληνες απευθύνεσαι οπότε κάντο καλύτερα στα Ελληνικά.. επίσης θέλω να σχολιάσεις την εμφάνιση των περισσοτέρων τρένων που είδαμε στο video.. δεν είναι δυνατόν τα Ελληνικά τρένα να μοιάζουν με αυτά του λούνα παρκ από τα γκράφιτι που είναι ζωγραφισμένα απάνω τους.. σε μια χώρα σοβαρή, βλέπε Ευρώπη και αλλού, δεν έχουν αυτήν την εμφάνιση.. αυτό δείχνει ότι εκεί που σταθμεύουν τα τρένα δεν φυλάσσεται ο χώρος και μπαίνει όποιος να 'ναι και ζωγραφίζει ότι του έρθει στο κεφάλι για να κάνει το κέφι του, λες και βάφει το υπνοδωμάτιό του.. εμάς μας ρώτησε; γιατί όσο ανήκει σε αυτόν το τρένο, άλλα τόσο ανήκει και σε μας.. σε παρακαλώ αν έχεις την καλοσύνη σχολίασέ το και πές μας την άποψή σου..
Δεν απευθύνομαι μόνο σε Έλληνες. Για την ακρίβεια απευθύνομαι κυρίως σε ξένους, αφού οι Έλληνες είτε ξέρουν ήδη για τα τραίνα που έχουμε εδώ, είτε δεν τους ενδιαφέρει. Στο εξωτερικό υπάρχει καλύτερη σιδηροδρομική παιδεία και μεγαλύτερο κοινό που ενδιαφέρεται να βλέπει τέτοιου είδους βίντεο.
Τώρα όσον αφορά την κατάσταση με τα γκράφιτι, την μπιχλα και τη βρώμα στα τραίνα, δυστυχώς είναι γνωστή χρόνια τώρα σε όλους όσους ασχολούνται, και δυστυχώς δεν είναι στο χέρι μας ότι και να λέμε εμείς. Τελευταία όμως έχει γίνει σημαντική προσπάθεια και έχουν καθαριστεί τα περισσότερα τραίνα, ειδικά οι συρμοί του προαστιακού νομίζω πως κανένας δεν έχει γκράφιτι πλέον, οπότε απλά ήταν θέμα όρεξης των υπευθύνων τόσα χρόνια να ασχοληθούν με τον καθαρισμό και την φύλαξη, απλά δεν το έκαναν. Πλέον φαίνεται το κάνουν. Τουλάχιστον στην ΤΡΑΙΝΟΣΕ. Μακάρι να δούμε κάτι αντίστοιχο και στη γραμμή 1 του μετρό που έχει καταντήσει παρακμή τελείως...
Ακόμα εδώ είναι το σχόλιο σας όπως βλέπετε....
I think Ska-oinoi should be expanded to 4 track line, for proastiakos and intercity trains to be on separate tracks for higher speeds (once more intercity train operate)

would be good to be quad track all the way, or at least in most places that there is space, plus all the stations. though not so much for the intercity trains but for the increasing number of freight trains. The tunnel under the Menidi area, starting from SKA and ending at the curve after the Menidi station is an important piece that without it, the quad track won't be of much use though :/

The only think OSE needs to do for the graffiti is to put the train's in closed spaces. A brick house with small windows and secure doors is more than enough. It's not as if trains need sunlight, am I right?
this could solve the problem to a degree, but that would be way too many buildings needed to park all the trains, and expensive too. And still the assholes would find their way in... they even sneak in the underground sidings of the Athens metro lines 2 and 3 to do their hideous graffiti, but they clean those cause the metro must look shinny and new... Truth is, they don't really care if the OSE trains are clean... If they cleaned them regularly, or had a policy that no painted train is allowed to operate (as it happens in lines 2 and 3) things would be way better.

Do they have a plan to deal with their honking mad drivers? I doubt they do.
I am a bit uninformed, do you know when the ETR470s come into standard commercial service? And when they do could you make a vlog style video (but without commentary) of a full ETR 470 journey from Athens to Thesaaloniki?
honestly no one really know exactly when :/ Up until now a limiting factor was the number of trainsets, they needed at least 3, 2 to operate and one as a reserve. We have 3 now so theoretically they should be able to start but... Recently another issue occurred, these trains aren't equipped with the typical anti-slip sandbox, instead they use other systems. But in Greece it is required that all trains need to be equipped with a sandbox, so I don't know how they'll get past that, maybe add sandbox? Maybe change the rule? Both are possible, so we are waiting on that now.
I will definitely make a trip report/vlog on these, don't worry! It will be my first one though and I'm not sure if I do it well, but I'll try me best!

@@joejolliffe from what I've heard it's been fixed and from today evening trains are operating as normal with overhead power :)
Το etr ξέρει κάποιος πότε θα δρομολογηθεί;
Για να γίνουν δρομολόγια χρειάζονται τουλάχιστον 3 συρμοί, προς το παρόν έχουν φτάσει μόνο οι 2 και συνολικά είναι να φτάσουν 5. Ακόμα μάλλον ούτε οι ίδιοι δεν ξέρουν πότε θα ξεκινήσουν...
