Two years ago my family got the chance to travel to Washington DC, which was my kid's first time in a large urban area. He and I were walking to a dougnut shop in downtown on a Sunday morning. Saw them at DV8 no idea what year but it was the best concert I ever been to. They are incomparable. So 1990's nostalgic. Some of my best and worst times in life. I will say if one group defines me it very well could be the digable planets!
Best hip hop produce was this trio right here. They just created something that had not been done before or after. It was intelligent very well thought out and executed. Seeing them live is everything with this trio. The way their fabulouos jazz band plays along side their unique voices. The little pops and ahs that Ladybug Mecca, Butterfly, and Doodlebug do pair up perfect with the hitting of the snares or the down stroke of the bass guitar. The drummer Mr. Conrad Real is so smooth. They are the best hip hop group ever.
Love that Jeff Lorber Fusion riff you got in there towards the end of this video. Respect to yu guys for keepin it real. If the truth be told, for hip hop to move forward, it needs to go back to stuff like yours and real instrumental music with the love you guys put into to it. Look at The Roots Pharcyde, Guru, Arrested Development for example...the list is endless.
Man digable popped up same time as snoop the chronic bone's first album but they were rappin about shit besides gang bangin plus THE MUSIC AND BEATS was so refreshing ..they had all my fave jazz licks..that shit was the chronic you didnt have to smoke to mellow out..just let your ears take a puff..their first album and slick ricks behind bars are that time periods most underated albums imho...
