I am a full time caregiver and have many health issues of my own. Im home a lot, dont have much free time, and must walk a lot for my health. I walk laps in the basement daily. 5-15 miles a day and i have worked up to read walking now❤. It helps me get both done
That’s inspiring! I don’t know if I could read and walk at the same time…but I can audiobook and walk! ❤️ so awesome that you’ve figured out how to make it work!
I love how you keep your books in those baskets. Super cute idea. Those look like great choices, girls! I love your mission to read more. I have designated reading time into the school day for my kids. If it’s something they think is optional I’ll get all the push back. For me though, I need to hear audible books. I usually play them (free on Libby) while I do errands.
Thank you! Yes....if its optional, they tend to choose to do something else unless they're majorly into reading at that point. I am a huge Libby fan! Some of my books are half read with a paperback and half audiobook! Its so helpful to bounce back and forth when I don't have time to sit and read.
Hello from British Columbia, Canada! HS mama of 4 :) PS, I love the new shirt from your thrifting haul! It's so flattering! May God bless your homeschool this year!
I loved that your oldest daughter mentioned that Colleen Coble was a Christian author. I’ve never read any of the books you ladies mentioned. How do you choose “safe” mystery literature? Would Brendalyn Collins be clean for kids? What a great idea. You are a blessed family. ❤
Yes! We try really hard to only read Christian or "clean" books in our home, so its a given to her. I'm glad she mentioned that though! I think Brandylin Collins could be ok for a teen that can handle crime type books. It has no language or inappropriate content in her books, but it does have death and maybe scary descriptions....so I wouldn't have my younger daughter read her books, but my older two would be fine. I have gotten familiar with the Christian authors and publishers out there and pretty much limit myself and my kids to those choices. I have a video from a couple years ago sharing a couple websites that help with my choices. I'll link it below. ua-cam.com/video/YtPX9WQVlxg/v-deo.htmlsi=6etX6J-64Jd69-q0
I just finished Tuesdays with Morrie and an reading a walk in the woods by bill bryson. Language warning for bill bryson. Im going to read Ive seen the end of you by the Christian brain surgeon dr lee warren whose son was stabbed to deatu years ago. He has a podcast to help us cooe with hard things
@@ourthriftyhomeschool i know tuesdays with morrie has a good message but to be real I hated it. Morrie follows agnosticism with hints of buddism and morrie believed he was more enlightened to the meaning of life due to dying. It felt very much like the author was knighting morrie the messiah and we should pay attention….
Do a cooking show on here once a month! I love this-- Muffins and a Mystery on Monday--review last month's mystery and start a new one... then read through the month... and do the next episode for youtube! Test out muffins or scones or any baked good... but go with the alliteration. You can also review baked-good recipes. :)
What a fun, creative video! You are so personable that I feel that I am right there with you. My 13 year old daughter loves to read (like me) but she likes fantasy (usually dragons) or adventure books. I usually like historical fiction or mystery. I love baking muffins!
I love reading! I finished Rachel Hauck's "The Memory House" recently and really enjoyed it. I'm now reading Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place" and wondering why I never read it before. So good!
Excited for your new video! I've been in a bit of a slump since having our last baby. But as he gets older I'm hoping that'll change. Either way, he's worth it. Ok, now to watch the video. 😊
I have been in a reading slump also. Hoping to find a good one to pull me out. I hope you all update us on the books you are reading! I have read a couple of the Case Closed with my kids. They are fun because it is kinda like choose your own adventure. You make a choice at the end of each chapter and either it is. The right one and you keep going or it says case closed and you start over. 😂
Thank you! I loved choose your own adventure books when I was a kid! I didn't even realize that's what her book was....so fun! We will definitely update!
Just found your channel. Thank you for sharing. We homeschool our 4 kids also. Wondering if you guys have thought about your husband seeing a functional doctor or functional nutritionist? I'm only asking because after getting covid 3 years ago I struggled with a lot of neurological issues myself , saw multiple doctors that just kept pushing meds. Then I found a functional nutritionist. She has helped me quite a bit. I'm still struggling with insomnia and anxiety unfortunately but thankfully it's manageable but taking a while to 'get back to normal'...❤
Thank you for the suggestion…my husband did see a fictional nutritionist at some point during this journey…I think it helped some, but not majorly. I’m glad that’s worked so well for you! ❤️

Two of my girls like totally different genres of books as I do too! ❤
My kids and I are starting school today... I think I'll make some muffins.... 😊

Could you add an egg yolk or applesauce to help the muffins.
See that’s what I was wondering! It needed something to add moisture. Maybe applesauce!
You are so funny! I feel like we could be good friends in real life😂
Awww thank you! 🥰

Did you go back to work?
Not yet. At this point, God is providing while I work from home on odd jobs, including UA-cam. So we'll see what the future holds.
