The Wombles was a children's TV series about creatures that lived in burrows collect rubbish and recycle it.
So he threw the empty coke can on the floor to see if they would be tempted to take it away.
John has a most distinctive laugh and it can help to infect you with it....You just have to smile if not laugh with him
I find him really nauseating. Really. Once watched him on TV force himself in a kiss on actresses who had not consented to kiss him for a role. Real abuse of power…

Leigha Dunbar they where a children's tv show some time ago, they lived in burrows and colleted rubbish/trash and recycled it
The Wombles was a Children's TV show about these creatures who lived on Wimbledon common and they would collect the litter and recycle it.
So, for example, their burrow home had newspapers on the wall as wallpaper. They made all their fixtures and furnishings out of litter.
As the theme song had it, "Making good use of the things that we find / the stuff that the everyday folks leave behind".
Unsurprisingly, they were later used as mascots in a "keep Britain tidy" campaign to discourage littering.
And then - hence why they're on Buzzcocks - they did come out with a novelty Christmas single.
Well, the actual children's TV show was a stop-frame animation, with little models of the wombles, but obviously for the purposes of performing the single on TV, we got these real-life costumed wombles.
