We do have mpg numbers. If you go to Toyotas page on the Land Cruiser under upcoming vehicles, It mentioned that the manufactures estimate is 27 mpg combined.
8.7L/100km for combined, which means the urban fuel economy will be more than 10L/100km. The annual and total lifecycle petrol and engine maintenance bill will be a lot. This is especially true for regions around the world where petrol is more expensive.

Split tailgate and better angle of departure would have made it a true home run. Everything else about it is great as long as the 4 cylinder performs reliably.

Kirk, the prop hood in 2023 is insane for that kind of money. The hard plastic interior of the 1958 model is also insane for that price point. The engine needs a shroud as it is a mess of wires. A lighter-coloured headliner would help brighten up the dark-as-night interior. I can't help but feel buyers will look at the LC250 but when it comes time to buy they will get the GX550 instead to get the 3.4LTT motor.
Toyota has been really listening to there customers and bring whatever they’re customers want but Toyota has hinted all along that the Land Cruiser was gonna come back and it’s only been a 2 year hiatus like Nissan Z but let’s just hope this sells a lot better than the last Land Cruiser offered in the US
It seems cheaper and less value than the current ancient 4R? I can't get over the 8.6" ground clearance. My wifes Outback is the same. Definetly not what I was expecting. Will keep watching your updates on it to find out more.
It's the base model and a hybrid..do you really need a standard 10 inches of ground clearance when 90 percent t of these won't see anything more than a pothole on the road lol.
It's still extremely sparse for a base model at that price point. Power seats and a soft touch arm rest really don't cost that much more. Toyota is taking a page out of the fleecing ways of Ram and Porsche.
First, put 33s on it and you’ll get another inch of clearance. 4Runner comes with taller wheel/tire combo. Second, that Outback does that without a live axle anywhere. Even one live axle in the back will make legitimate off-roading more feasible. An Outback on anything, absolutely anything off camber behaves like a sheet of plywood.
No one who will really offroad it complains about ground clearance you know why.. because real ones will lift it, add bigger tires and regear it. If you want ground clearance from factory, get a tractor.. Otherwise put the work in or have a shop do it for you the right way.
I’m sure it’ll come too. The Prado usually has more engine choices than the V8s. That’s what we call the small and big LC. So Prado had 3engine choices from the cheapest having a 2.7 lt petrol engine to the most expensive ones having the 3.0ltr diesel which was later replaced with the 2.8 but was still offered, and a 4ltr V6 petrol.
If it's offered in 3rd row config it will eat into the lexus base model and for runner derived suv types market so I think they did the right thing not giving it three rows.
@@thegreat9481it's got an electric motor to beef up the engine power so it's not going to make a difference on the cylinders it has, that 4 cylinder is decent enough for the Hilux and current gen Prado so it's going to be fine especially with the hybrid system
Last few Land Cruisers looks kinda like Lexus, wonder if they were also appealing to family suv buyers. Lots of chrome. And the new defender 130 looks too luxury to be around mud. This 1958 is the perfect blend of the past and still look like a workhorse.
I just feel they was better off keeping the 300 Series and giving us that. No one wants a small Land Cruiser. Not only that why would I opt for the 2.4 when I can get GX with the V6. I think Toyota did it a huge disservice here.
@@markusbertolozzi406 The problem was that the LX570 was outselling the LC200 at least 3 to 1. It didn't make sense to have both. Now it will make no sense to have this and the GX550. Unless the price gap is extremely significant I can't see why someone would choose this over a GX550. It also doesn't seem to be worth much of a premium over a 4Runner.
I highly doubt that it will be reliable. A small-displacement 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that is turbocharged and includes a hybrid electric motor in a full-size 4x4. Toyota does not consider longevity and reliability as a priority anymore, it seems.

Their new hybrid product offensive is just great. Nice Crown, Prius, Tacoma, Kexus GX, Lbx, this Landcruiser. New EV strategy and focus on gigacasting production with Kaizen standard as well and solid state batteries starting from 2026. I think Toyota nailed it❤
The Lexus variant gets a TT-6. I would still prefer the 4.6L v8 that is in the current GX. It's not overly powerful, but very smooth and lasts forever.
1958 base model with ARB front bumper, custom rear bumper, sliders, after market roof rack and if possible a 70 series front axle conversion, would be a kick ass platform.

Probably won't affect it much if any. 4runner will be slotted under this one hopefully around 40k but with inflation and these crazy dealer it won't be any near that price just like how this base LC start at 55k but will probably have to pay 70k to get into one.
Are the recovery points not tie down points for boat transport. We get these on the Australian Landcruiser’s and Toyota advises to change to proper recovery points. Australia has to wait until mid-2024 for this Prado

I’m even more curious now about how the new 4Runner fits in to the Toyota product line. I assume that the styling and engine will be similar to the new Tacoma. That means that the 4Runner and the Land Cruiser Prado could likely share the same engine and powertrain.
Now Toyota needs to make a 4WD EV. But, Toyota and the Japanese car industry are too invested and enamoured with ICE cars to consider this. And you wonder why the Japanese car industry is doomed.

Dunno about the emissions in usa. Other global markets probably recieve 4.0 v6 since new lc 300 series us offered in 4.0 v6
