    Must be nice. I give my baby a bath, change his diaper, feed him, play lullabies and he still has a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep for that long. The most is 4 hours because he loves to eat a lot. Last night I only slept like 2 hours, he was very fussy all night. He likes to sleep during the day and be up at night 😭😫😴

    Hey Liza just a word of advice from a mom of 3, you should keep the breastfeeding at night. It really helps with your milk supply. I did what you're doing with my 2nd and my supply dwindled around 6 months. But with my 3rd, I just sucked it up and didn't replace feeds until she was almost 1. We made it to 1 year!!!!

    • @keirstenhopke1350
      @keirstenhopke1350 5 років тому +6

      Brittney Coward I totally agree. Newborns, especially breastfeeding newborns, shouldn’t be sleeping through the night. They are supposed to be waking every 3 hours to eat for a while. :(

    • @yojs17_
      @yojs17_ 5 років тому +2

      Brittney Coward Yes, I agree. I exclusivity breastfeed for 14.5 months with my son. At 6 months, i mostly cut out the night feed and didn’t wake to pump because he was sleeping mostly through the night. I pumped 3 times at work, breastfeed 2-3 times a day. By 10 months, I was struggling to make those 3 bottles for him while I was at work and was using freezer milk to make him his 3rd bottle. At one year, I quit pumping and only breastfed in the morning and in the night. By the time we stopped at 14.5 months, I was nursing on only one boob and there was barely enough milk for one feeding a day. Main reason I stopped at 14.5 months was because my son was tryin to nurse when there was hardly in milk and that was super painful.

      @@keirstenhopke1350 I disagree. My boys both slept through the night at 6 weeks old- I'm talking like 11pm to 6am. They were perfectly fine, healthy, gained weight. I made sure they ate all day every 2-3 hrs and woke them up during the day to make sure!

      Taylor Lockhart yes exactly . You can mix it if it’s the same temp . Always chill it first. If not it breaks down the enzymes and proteins and changes the consistency

    I love how you just...lay him down..and he takes his pacifier and goes to sleep. My daughter will NOT take a pacifier. She only falls asleep with me nursing her. Getting her into her own bed is a challenge 😞 but she is a great sleeper 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @yojs17_

    6 hours at 7 weeks! That is crazy!!! I think sleep habits just depends on the baby. I tried everything with my son, he wasn’t sleeping well with no awakenings until a year. Do you go six hours at night without pumping? If so, your milk supply may start to dwindle with such a long span of time, and also your period will probably come back soon. It makes since not to pump since he is sleeping but 7 weeks is kinda of soon to get rid of that night time feed/pump. When I had my son 2 years ago in June I bought a whole bunch of sleepers that I hardly used because we swaddle and it was way to hot! Lesson learned.

    • @BH-el4rs

      7 weeks old baby two ounces of milk in the bottle to last him six hours ? Please please feed your baby , he needs 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hrs so double or tripple of what he gets.That is why he doesn’t put on much weight . Don’t mean it in horrible way but he is not getting enough. Best wishes

    • @yojs17_
      @yojs17_ 5 років тому +2

      Brittney Coward I got rid of the night feed closer to 6 months. I went back to work at 8 weeks. I struggled to make enough milk during my 3 pump sessions at work around 10 months and I was using my freezer stash to supplement one bottle a day.

    • @Tropicalxnessax
      @Tropicalxnessax 5 років тому +5

      He probably drinks more from the bottle, so will keep him full for a longer stretch.. It's also good to have them get used to a bottle from early in that way dad can also help... And you can also freeze the left over milk as in the vlog, so you can start building up a supply for times when it's needed...

      I find my daughter (4 weeks old) eats a lot more from a bottle of pumped milk than she does from me. She gets too cozy and falls asleep before she’s entirely full when she’s breastfeeding! I’ve been wanting to do a pumped bottle before bed but I just freaking hate pumping too🙄 Huge fan of my Hakaa, but it takes a few feeds of using it to get enough for one full feeding.

  • @natashaworship1301

    Newborns are not supposed to sleep 6 to 7 hours straight, they still need a feed every 3 hours and if they are not waking you are supposed to wake them. Also, it is not expected of a newborn to sleep so long in one go, you shouldnt be advertising this because itll make other moms feel like theyre doing something wrong, which they are not! If this is your experience, then fine, but dont say " To help you moms who are struggling to get your newborns to sleep through". Its important not to normalize your experience because all babies are different and there is nothing "normal" about a newborn who sleeps this long, it is the exception and count yourself lucky while it lasts because as you should know, babies change all the time.

    • @LizaAdele
      @LizaAdele  5 років тому +6

      Girl. I’m just listening to what my pediatrician said who told me once Quinten was 2 weeks old I didnt need to wake him up to feed during the night because it’s not necessary, and to let him sleep as long as he likes. Only wake him up every 3 hours during the day time. So that’s what I do. Obviously, this is my experience and what works best for my family. everyone is free to let their babies sleep as long or as short as they want 😂 common sense. every baby is different! But if someone is trying to get their baby to sleep longer stretches during the night, these were my suggestions:) totally harmless girlfriend. Have a great day 😘

      Thank you. I’d never take advice from anyone that thinks letting a newborn sleep that long and not eat would ever be ok. I’ve never heard of a pediatrician or bf consultant say anything to the accord and I have 4 kiddos. Never even read an article saying that was ok for a newborn. Seems very lazy and selfish on “moms” part. No wonder he’s so small.

    Honestly wondering why you pump just to turn around and bottle feed him. Seems like a lot of extra work, wouldn’t it just be easier to nurse him?! 😂 i guess I’m lazy but I can’t be bothered with a pump!

      I’ve read that since they are probably getting more milk straight from the bottle, if you give them the bottle before going to sleep, they sleep for longer since they are full.

      Giorgia Perotti I’ve just found that he sleeps better with 2 full ounces right before bed from a bottle 🤷🏻‍♀️ not sure why! Maybe because he’s getting very full

      Liza Adele ah I see so it’s just like a top off for him! Also at night usually breast milk production is the lowest so he probably would get as much from the breast at that time anyway

      He probably now associates the bottle with bedtime too. So he gets nice and full and knows it’s time to sleep. Routine was everything with my first two! They learn it and it’s so much easier. With my third however it got messy 🤦🏼‍♀️ no routine he was hard work!! He’s 2 now and is a lot better bless him! He had a lot of allergies and severe reflux that needed to be medicated, special milk. It’s amazing you got him to sleep so early on tho! And of course he’s super super cute 😆 xxx

    If you want an inexpensive sound machine, I recommend the HoMedics Soundspa. I got it for less than $25 from Walmart. We’ve been using it since my daughter was 4 months old and she’s almost 2 now. We live in the city and the street noise can be loud so this sound machine helps a lot!

    I’m trying to get my little guy on a nighttime routine but it’s been really hard. He was 6 weeks early and isn’t even technically due until 8/30/19, so he’s almost 5 weeks old but still a preemie. He eats so much because he needs to grow, so any hope for a solid routine at this point isn’t working. I can’t wait until he sleeps longer stretches!!! Your little one is so cute😍

    Just wanted to add my own breastfeeding experience with 2 of my kids, a 2 1/2 year old that I ebf for 1 year and a 7 week old that I'm currently ebf. They both started sleeping 7-8 hours straight (no feeds) by 2 months. I only pump if I wake up engorged and baby isn't ready to eat. I've always been told by LCs and my pediatrician that your supply regulates by 6-8 weeks. If baby is sleeping straight through without nursing, typically they'll nurse during the day and your body will adjust accordingly (supply/demand). Also, my cycle never started with my first until 8 months postpartum, even though at that point he'd been sleeping 11-12 hours straight for months. Everyone is different! I say pump if you want or you need relief, trust your pediatrician, and go off of weight gain/diapers to determine if they're getting enough. ♥️ Awesome video! Quinten is so sweet!

    We have the Homedics Deep Sleep sound machine from the target ap (online only) & it’s hands down THEE BEST. Tried several previous purchases before finding one that worked. It has timer settings or can go all night, is compact, plugs in instead of needing batteries but it DOES have battery option if u need or prefer, but above all it has TONE adjusters for each individual white noise sound setting, so if you’re not into that typical obnoxious Static noise that most sound machines make, this one resembles more of an actual fan or even an ocean (though it does still have it’s own ocean wave option as well, along with the 3 different white noises + music & heartbeat.) Tried the Dohm. Absolutely hated it. Wasn’t loud enough at all, nor did it have any different setting other than on/off. Ours was half the price of the Dohm too! I’ve also heard great things about the Hatch Baby one that comes with nightlight feature & syncs to ur phone but haven’t tested it out myself so idk what the sound quality is like.

    With my daughter who is 21 months we used and STILL the dohm sound machine. It is
    Literally just like a fan of white noise. For this baby (expected any day) we have the hatch baby sound machine/nightlight which I’m already loving. We used the same
    Swaddles and did the bottle of breastmilk before bed and our daughter always slept like that as well. And I didn’t pump during that long stretch, just after/before that first morning feed.

    Routine is key! My baby was waking only once at night time at 2 weeks (3am) and by 4 weeks she was sleeping 6 to 7 hrs. Her last feed was around 11pm. Currently at 8 weeks she’s waking up more because I removed the swaddle and boy that’s been a transition. She’s getting used to not being swaddled but still waking up about 3 times just from being scared. Right now she’s eating 4oz and has been for about 2 weeks. Just follow your babies hunger cues and you know when to feed them more.

    I use my old iPhone for my daughters white noise. There’s 2 apps that I use: Relax Melodies and White Noise. They’re both available for iPhone but not sure about Android. The setting I always use on both is called heavy rain/heavy rain pouring. They’re both a little different so it depends on what your preference is for the type of white noise you want to use. Relax Melodies has where you can have multiple sounds at once so I use this app the most bc I use it for meditation/winding down as well.

    Hatch baby sound machine is the BEST! Also, I noticed you said you combine your milk from morning and night. I wanted to make sure you knew to put the milk from the morning in the refrigerator to get it the same temperature as the milk that is already refrigerated because you completely ruin the milk if you don’t. Mixing warm milk with cold milk makes the cold milk go bad.
