Delivering in Sydney. Rates are ridiculous now, starting from saturday (17/02). One of these days they offered me 13 dollars for an estimated 47 min delivery, which is basically paying to work for them when you deduct costs. I thought it would be something temporary, maybe a bad day, maybe too many drivers that day, but it has been like that everyday for a week now.

You are 100% spot on..and thankyou for making this video and please do contact fairwork and give it to them! There has been a drastic reduction in income from uber over the past 2-3 weeks, I do it fulltime and my average earnings have dropped by about $7-$8 per hour currently at about $15ph before tax and expenses..so even before they started exploiting us further I was only earning $22-$23 ph gross..I can't believe they've done this and if they are saying that they haven't changed anything when it's quite easy to prove that they have they need to revert back to the way it was and back pay everyone that's been underpaid over the past few weeks..

Don't see how food delivery by car can ever make economic sense; Petrol, depreciation, increased insurance, risk of copping fines. Moped or bicycle for short city deliveries seems like the only possible way to make profit.

Had one come though just before sitting on the lounge, $14.03, 34 minutes and 22.4km. Take out fuel, wear and tear and tax, take home around $6.-$7 Absolute joke.
Had a heap of $5-$7 offers come through where the km were the same as $.
Absolute garbage if they say the km are still in the algorithm.

Yea Mate, been a noticeable drop the past week or so.
Had an offer came thru today $7:78 for a double both Woolies pick up 3.5km, 2 weeks ago had ONE pick up from Woolies $9 for 4.2km.
Lot of orders coming thru much less than $1 per km & as you worked out mostly around the $20-$22 per hour.
Total crap, rejecting the majority of orders, will only take the odd decent one that comes thru :(.
Quests here on the Gold Coast for quite some time we only get in the evenings from 5-9pm mostly all 3's @ $9 for up to 12 drops.
Just need to get everybody to reject all the crap, they will have to do something if no-one is picking up the orders.

I definately noticed last week and felt something was off. Going out on friday night i didnt have a quest, and just kept getting really low stacked offers and addons. Or if i did get a decent offer like $12 it would be for 17km. I had to decline so many offers it was a waste of time. Two weeks prior i had a friday night quest and got $170 for 3 and a half hours.

I'm in one of UberEats new markets and had been doing quite well over the last 6 months since it started here, averaging about $35-$50ph. Now I'd be lucky to hit $20ph even putting my foot to the floor and risking speeding fines. I used to start my drive time at 4.30pm weekdays and 10am weekends, head into town (8km) and wait for orders, finishing at 10pm when everywhere closes. Since the change on Thursday 13th Feb, I sit at home and decline decline decline until an order bounces back to me and the $ outweigh the kms. Almost every single offer is less $ than kms. If they come back paying double or more than the original offer or works out to more than $30ph, I get off the couch lol.. UberEats absolutely disgusting pay now. Take home pay is now about $10ph after expenses & tax.

I have definitely noticed it. I took a few weeks off after Christmas and came back recently and noticed the offers were significantly lower than they were previously (and these were offers comparable in the past ie same restaurant to same area).
It is at the point now where I only do nights when quests are available and even then am earning a little less per hour than I was before Christmas on a night with no quests. At first I thought it may be a Law of Averages thing but it persisted and now seeing this video and reading comments from this wonderful community it is not just me.
Thank you Chris for the time you sacrifice on your channel to keep us informed.

I’ve been doing it a year and a half now bro and approaching 4000 deliveries and I can tell you for certain that in my market of the Gold Coast Uber eats pays around $20 per hour. Every city and market is different but they will always pay the minimum amount that drivers in that particular market are willing to accept and still show up to work. Also, the busier it is, the more they pay the drivers, for example, you’ll get more on a Friday night than you will on a Tuesday night and with a quest you’ll get between $25-$29 hour again depending how busy it is.

  • @Daledugahole
    @Daledugahole 6 місяців тому +1

They only pay by time, the kms don’t matter. Also the times are grossly under estimated as they don’t take into account waiting time or problems with traffic and finding customers. So you’re looking at about $20 per hour on a good day. On a bad day much less

  • @f8keuser
    @f8keuser 6 місяців тому +1

The time estimated is just a guide as for me personally I end up completing my orders quicker than the time displayed so roughly anywhere from a 2 minutes to 10 minutes quicker.
This issue I see is that things are not as bad if we were getting back to back orders but hardly anyone is so you'd get 1 order and then another but then it would stop for 10 15 minutes then get another order then go quiet for like an hour before getting another trip.

Sydney boosts where never >1.3 and quests stopped march/april 2023.
That's when I stopped the food gig (fortunately found a job in my field just in time). Spoke to a UE driver 3 weeks ago (ran into him while doing my shopping). He showed me his app, and he is making about $18/hr prior to deducting tax, petrol, car wear and tear. In reality, he is making something closer to $10-12/hr. :(
Far cry to the good'ol days of $40-60/hr (yes there were days I averaged $60/hr), I used to make back in 2021-22.

The offers shown in the video are the types of offers I've been getting for months on end... I've been doing about 40 hours a week, averaging about $20 -$24 p/h for months..
The Km's are not being calculated into the offers. On longer drives the offers are often well below $1 per km.. Sometimes as low as 65-75 cents per km....
So, I just pick & choose as much as possible, smash the bonuses when offered & do doordash too..
    I'm just hanging in there(barely).

Mate, it was a lot more than a week ago for me - I got my first $3.00 orders from Uber way back in November/December last year, which I quickly straight out declined each one. Disgusting! I have a loose $7Up rule - decline almost anything less than $7, and any doubles that are less than around $9-$10 (I look into these a bit when they come in to see if they're worth it - ie from same restaurant, going to same street/apartment building, etc). I also noticed a lot more $7 - $10 doubles which traditionally would've paid around the $12-$14 mark. I haven't done food delivery over January & February as it was quieter than normal (holidays, new uni students just settling into Sydney, etc), and have been doing Airtasker. I'll be jumping back into food delivery soon, so will be able to see what's happening (and declining any disgusting orders that come through on Uber! haha) again. For the record, I'm in Sydney and on an e-bike.
    Cheers,
    Neil

You cant complain about changes when you have groups of uber and uber eats drivers dropping orders and pick ups all the time.... if you damage the quality of service for users, like whats happening non stop over the past 12 months.. and this is coming from some one that spends over 30k a year on uber.. at the end of the day uber drivers are trying to milk the system so of cource they are going to change the pay rates and the way its calculated. On average i get a $5 discount from uber every 2nd order due to slow drivers or one out of 5 meals if free due to it being cold.. due to drivers trying to stack orders. think its around 4800 over 12 months in free food and discounts i have been given from uber due to drivers and there mistakes. so its pretty simple to work out that drivers are going to be punished due to the actions of others..

alot of the funds from boosts are going to uber users.. via credits as a kick back due to drivers playing games and being less reliable.. in the past 3 weeks i have had around $70 in free credit.. from uber eats. and $15 was from a campaign and the rest are from $5 and $10 credits due to uber drivers being late or not meeting there delivery estimate. i get 3/8 meals from uber eats each week cos my work pays for my lunch and dinner "_" and i have noticed massive amounts of credits being given to me.. normally its like $5/$30 over a month.

You could always get out and get a real job. Working for Uber is choice.

The vast majority have a 'real job' and work this as a second or third job.

I'm home with my toddlers all day, I do delivery driving all night until around 12am. So, kindly, STFU. It's a real job. I'm f'ing exhausted by the time I get into bed at 1am and then restart my day at 6am

If you apply your rationale to other sectors, then should police officers or ambos or construction workers for example "get out and get a real job" when their unions pay demands are not met?
Do you realise that the transport sector in Australia is almost completely unregulated? Whether it's Uber or any other transport / logistics company there are no minimum wage metrics and standards whatsoever.
These employment arrangements are almost always structured as contractor / subcontractor arrangements, that are designed to benefit only the contractor, with no union representation or government oversight.
All drivers are asking for is "fair pay" no different to any other industry. Uber and just about every other transport / logistics company literally exploit and take advantage of people. There are exceptions though, I have worked for other transport companies, powered via an App and the internet who were for a long time able to pay their drivers well, but when conglomerates like Uber come along and significantly undercut the market then other transport companies are forced to lower their pricing in order to compete and subsequently pay their drivers less than what they once did. Uber has played the game perfectly, they used to pay their drivers much better to incentivize new drivers to join their fleet in order to build what is now the largest crowd sourced driver network in Australia. Now that they've established themselves as the behemoth that they are, they dominate the market offering the lowest prices and the most efficient driver fleet due to the sheer voulme of drivers they now have.
Uber did the exact same thing when they disrupted the taxi industry, they broke the law and how they did it is well documented. They knew they'd be able to get away with it and were able to operate with impunity and the Australian government were ok with it, so long as Uber paid the 250 million dollar fine they were slapped with.
Are we as people and our government not better than that in Australia? Some people have no choice, for one reason or another but to work for Uber or the likes. It is slave labour and should be ILLEGAL because that behavior is CRIMINAL! In a first world country like AUSTRALIA, government legislation for minimum wage should protect all workers!

@@georgekaras1104 I stopped reading when you asked if I knew about an award rate and then you mentioned police officers and construction workers.. they have award rates, they're real jobs if you're going to complain. Go out and get one :)
