  • Revolutionary Waste Oil Burner: A Renewable Energy Solution
    The title is a bit much but I figured to grab your attention. Now that the cold weather is once again settling in it is that time of year when I start working on different ways to heat the shop without breaking the bank. In this video we are building a waste oil burner that gives off no smoke and actually burns very clean. Did I also mention that it is free heat?

My, my, Jim, you are not being very green. hehe...That's a great build! You've got the touch when it comes to cutting and welding metal, all I've got is the touch to cut and nail wood boards. I've made one of these as well. Credit for this design goes to "Creative inventions LMTN" and I don't know for sure if he came up with the design or he borrowed it from somewhere. There is a bit of a shutdown time, but yes they do work very nicely and make nice clean heat.

  • @haydenc2742

    Question...could having a brake disk with a plate welded to the bottom to drip the oil into, then have the 90 degree bend directly down the middle blowing straight into the disk cause it to burn better...might be easier to light too...heat the disk rather than the whole outer shell, once the fire is going, the disk will glow red hot instantly vaporizing and burning the oil, and the air inlet blowing directly down into the disk will cause the heat to radiate out towards the shell and heat the disk in the bottom burning the carbon/sludge that might build up using waste oil
    Very cool design!

    Looks like you have a great setup there ...... not so much here. No waste oil and we can't burn it without a license (£1,800 last time I checked a couple of years ago).
    You seem to have gone down a different route than many on this. No fine oil regulator with cut away to see the "pencil thick flow of oil", no heavy metal plate over the burning tray, no fancy vortex.
    Got to say it seems to work well for all that ..... maybe you will set a trend? Blue flame = good burn and no smoke!

    I don't think you know what the word "renewable" means.

    • @TheTradesmanChannel
      @TheTradesmanChannel  6 місяців тому +2

      I think you're looking at the video title that I picked from a suggested list of title recommendations. As for renewable, it's a matter of perspective. Vegetation rots everyday and is very slowly turning back into crude. The other thing to think on is that waste oil is a terrible pollutant, one gallon of waste oil can contaminate millions of gallons of ground water and much of it all over the world is disposed of improperly. If you can dispose of it in a clean manner then you are ahead of the game. Clean combustion is probably the cleanest way to dispose of it. When I say clean, I'm talking burning hot enough to have little to no CO in the flue gasses as well as removing enough heat from the burn to make it efficient as well as have no smoke or particulates. I make my living working on industrial burners of all sizes. I know what is clean and efficient and what is not.

    • @janosszabo98
      @janosszabo98 6 місяців тому

      @@TheTradesmanChannel I still don't think you know the meaning of the word "renewable".

    • @TheTradesmanChannel
      @TheTradesmanChannel  6 місяців тому +1

      As stated, title was picked from a generic list of title recommendations. Also, there is no mention of the word renewable in the video. You seem to be looking for an argument on the subject or maybe you just want to show that you are intelligent, not sure which. I'm very open to differing viewpoints and open discussion but I am not open to internet rudeness. If you want a good discussion on the topic, I'm more than willing to have one with you and will listen as well as respect any knowledge you have on the subject matter.

    • @janosszabo98
      @janosszabo98 6 місяців тому

      @@TheTradesmanChannel I'm not looking for an argument. I'm simply pointing out that you either don't know the meeting of the word you're using, or you do, but using it as clickbait, or you just don't care whether or not your title has anything to do with the content and just pick one at random. Whatever the case may be, it's not a positive look for you, and it's largely what's wrong with youtube in general.
      I'm not a tree hugger, nor some religious whacko who believe in reincarnation or stuff like that. Also, I don't have kids, and I'm never having kids. What becomes of this world after I'm gone is not my biggest concern. And I'll be the last person to tell you what to do. So if you wanna burn oil all day long, I couldn't care less, go right ahead.

    • @TheTradesmanChannel
      @TheTradesmanChannel  6 місяців тому

      That is fair. I've put out well over 700 videos since 2017 on here, mostly timber framing and blacksmith videos.
      I ran out of title ideas a long time ago so I let vidIQ pick the titles from time to time. My videos are very honest, there is no covering up of mistakes, if something doesn't work it gets shown. You are probably not familiar with the channel nor me so I can see why you'd feel that way about the title. It is a bit clickbaitish but the content is not.
