thank you so much for sharing all of this. I am interested in joining the industry and you helped wrap my mind around what I would be getting into. You are amazing and thank you for what you do
Great video! I start my new job of funeral operative/trainees funeral director next week and have been looking up articles on google for weeks to get the overall gist of the job, but most were vague. This video has helped a lot and our backstories are incredibly similar, spooky really. Thanks again for the video and know you've gained yourself one more subscriber. Cheers from Scotland!
Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed watching your video. Im researching on being a funeral director. I love how you explained your role and also different points about the funeral industry. You’re a great communicator!
Brilliant video! Covered key points & excellent delivery 👏🏾. Loved how you touched on gender, emotions, strength & diversity. Recently got an offer & I’m a woman of colour 😊
Thank you for making the video and I will watch more. I found you to be easy to listen to and you made good points. My interview for funeral operative is next week. You have certainly been helpful. Hold on tight to your dreams.
Lindsey you're awesome thanks for the videos always watch your videos in full I cant wait for another true crime story. You are brave at this job I don't think I could do this job
I was writing out my application and I stopped to watch your video and I'm so glad I did because you share your experiences and gave a lot of insight to my questions. I have always wanted to work in the funeral business I just don't want to be sad 😔 daily
Thank you! Best of luck on your application :) the job is very fulfilling and I wouldn’t say it makes me sad daily. You definitely get used to it but if you give it a try and it’s not for you, at least you’ll know for sure 😊
@@lindseyolson4 how do you deal with heavy coffins?, one time our FD let 4 of us carry some over 130kg, it was agonizing trying to keep straight, face forward and show no reaction, do you know if shoulder pads are any good?. My interview was by two women, i mentioned the fact how good to was too see women in the industry and how good it is, this was one of the factors in why i got my job(she told me when i came in on my first day) and the fact i had previous FSO experiance, i managed to get the job over two people more qualified then me because i was articulate in my compassion and love for the industry and how much it means to be that person helping families on the toughest time in their lives.
@@eadweardwoden7309 that’s such a good question! We have a certain limit we are allowed to carry and anything over goes on a trolley. I have definitely been in situations where the FD still wanted to carry but I refused 😂 it’s not worth my physical health or the risk of dropping it because of the weight. Congrats on the job!! 🤗
@@lindseyolson4 i literally was fired from my first place because i found a coffin to be a little heavy, terrible management. it was first time ever as an FSO and they didn't give me no training or anything and just expected me to carrying large weights. they expect you to be fat and put loads of weight on, so now I just concentrate going to the gym and working upper body, especially shoulders and back, my new job seems more laid back and understanding. You in the UK?, if you are the coop branch drug tests you, do you get drug tested?
@@eadweardwoden7309 man that’s wild but it also doesn’t really surprise me :/ I would honestly rather lose my job than be forced to ruin my back, but it shouldn’t even be a question anyway 🤷🏼♀️ I’m not with the coop so I’m not sure what their procedures are, most places only do a background check :)
I can only speak of where I work/live but the training is usually provided on the job, any previous experience in dealing with people or difficult situations is always welcome. You can always get some online training or courses for funeral director but from what I’ve gathered you’re usually trained up through the funeral home you work at :)
