Kendall in his own way saved the company it’s just that for Logan it’s never enough because his way is the only way when he was the one who created this debt problem
Nothing he did would've made Logan happy, but the issue is that Stewy straight up told him he couldn't trust him, they lost the family majority stake and let in Logan's arch rival. He didn't use his brain, he tried to pull in friends. Kendall also fucked up the conversation with the lender even though he actually had a lot of leverage, he barely tried to renegotiate the loan timeline and instead just cussed him out.
@@Spaced92 but of course the reason Kendall handles the negotiation so poorly is due to the way Logan raised him. From Kendall's point of view, his father is vicious and vulgar with everyone, he talks down to everyone, because that's how he treats his own children. Obviously there should be no way Logan speaks more respectfully to the shareholders than to his own children (even though he does), so he assumes he has to do the same because it's what he thinks his father would have done. Logan tells Kendall to "fuck off" literally dozens of times in the show.
To be fair, Kendall was left with pretty much no option except to make the deal with Stewy or else lose the company. A running theme throughout the series (and hopefully this isn't a spoiler since it's already been the case since the very first episode) is that Logan will insult his kids' decisions when he's not in control, no matter what. Especially when it comes to Kendall. As a businessman, Kendall is actually quite possibly the smartest of the Roys in terms of business sense (even including Logan) - his logic for buying Vaulter in the first ep is pretty sound, the basic theory behind his "lifeboats" speech (once you get past the cringiness of how he phrases it) is solid, and he practically saves the company from a mess largely created by Logan himself by making the deal with Stewy. The problem is that he's got an overinflated ego paired with absolutely no self-esteem and a constant need for external validation (especially Logan's) which is a hugely destructive combination. Plus the whole dude-bro thing which means practically no one takes him seriously...
The thing about the dudebro personality thing is that it's clearly not the real him, it's just a mask he puts on to try to fit in with other people his age and younger. He's a very level headed and eloquent person when he tries to be, but he's so deathly afraid of being perceived as the pampered rich brat who's never had to struggle for anything in his life (aka the Roman-type personality) that he adopts this frat boy/urban persona to seem more down to earth. Of course it almost always backfires, but it's a solid attempt at least.
@@nathancollins1715 Good point. And with a little more confidence, he might actually be able to carry it off in a more natural way that doesn't put people off (at the risk of spoilers, in the season currently airing we're basically being given an example of a false dude-bro who absolutely makes that image work). Kendall's just wound far too tight for it to seem like his natural personality and it makes him come across like that "how do you do, fellow kids" meme.
@@kdizzle901 you implied they were misinterpreting the show by questioning the characters and labelling them weird. Not my fault you're not on the ball Katie Hopkins
We started watching this show recently. I noticed Logan calling Roman, "Romulus." I asked my wife if she thought that was his given name or if the father was trying to make him sound more important. She said, no, it's like that ancient sculpure of Romulus and Remus, suckling off of the teats of the Empire, lol. So i thought about the other kids names. Shiv, is a blade you stick in somebody's back. Conner, is a con man. Kendall: Ken doll? The neutered one? I don't know, what do others think?
Dude! You might be on to something *Romulus* : one of the traditional founders of Rome; killed his brother Remus in an argument *Roman* : relating to Ancient Rome or it’s people *Siobhan* : God is gracious *Shiv* : a knife or razor used as a weapon *Kendall* : Valley of the King; Ruler of the valley *Ken* : one’s range of knowledge or insight; knowledge *Connor* : Lover of Wolves; Master of Hounds *Con* : to pursuance someone to do something usually under deception; swindle
Everyone always says that this show doesn't get good till episode 6 so I'm glad you guys are liking these early episodes. It only gets more insane from here
I just recently subscribed to your Patreon a couple days ago so im still kind of new to this lol. But i love watching your full reactions synced up to whichever show/movie on my tablet. As someone who doesnt have much human contact outside of my job, it feels like I'm watching together with friends. 😊 keep up the good work guys 😊😊😊
It's complex. He can be very smart in a situation, and he can be the most embarrassing and dumb person on another. But he's like that because of the abusive way Logan raised him
Eh, he's not outright dumb, but he's got a billion hang ups that actually make you be able to tolerate his really cringey or dumb moments. Like he's constantly trying to be better as a person or professionally, but he can't stop getting in his own way. Roman, on the other hand, is maybe the dumbest that his snarky blase attitude covers up. But there will be moments where you realize he's the dumbest one there.
I'm so happy y'all are watching this show. It just gets better and better. I'm so bummed that we're in the middle of the last season. One of the best shows I've ever seen! Just to let y'all know, for better or worse I'm ride or die for Kendall. In this very weird messed up world he's my favorite character. Please keep with it. The dialogue is amazing!
Season 1 is basically like the prologue, they introduce the family and character dynamics and by the end there's a pretty big issue but 2-3 feels more meaty. Stewy and Nate are both friends of Kendall so that's fun lol
i get it but like geez i wouldn’t mind a little sensitivity to the addiction issues idk the ipad jokes like im not stuck up it’s just addiction is hard asf and can be deadly and its serious ik it’s a show but still
"This whole series is just about how awful it is for Kendall" It's only been 3 episodes and you got it perfectly.

Stick with this show! From 1x06 onwards, it becomes one of the best in modern memory.
i would argue from 1x1 it's one of the best in history
@Diegesis Agreed, but it definitely accelerates in the second half of the first season and rarely let's up.
Dude from the beginning. Also if people dont like the first 5 episodes they shouldn't watch.
It took me a few eps to really love this show, but when it hits its strive, it doesn’t stop.

Great discussion as always! I really enjoy you two!
they’re all bad people, you just have to figure out which bad person you’re rooting for.😂
Or you could root for... none of them? You could root for their entire media empire shitshow to crumble under its own weight.
Holy shoot! I’m loving these reactions! Subscribed just for this, so glad you guys are having fun with the show
giving this series some time was one of the best joys of my life.
Stewie is the most honest person in the show
Kendall is probably the most tragic character
Is Kendall a fugginidiot?

Succession isn't a drama or a comedy or even a dramedy. It's a tragedy.
The characters think they're in a Greek tragedy. The camera thinks they're in a Greek comedy
