Three-fourths of older workers blame age discrimination for their lack of confidence in finding a new job. So we set up a fake business, giving out free gift baskets, to shine a spotlight on the barriers and ageist assumptions that older workers face in the job search. There is a generation or two between those you are talking about. Oldies built this mess and have been obstructing the path that might fix the problems that generations before created and protect. AARP protects the system of exploitation of the youth for the old people. You shame us to keep us from changing the system you profit from. There will be a crappy tomorrow for us all if the mess is not fixed. But what do you oldies care if you dont live to see it. You borrowed against our future so you could live an indulgent and indifferent life. The shame belongs to you. Yours is not the greatest generation, but you may be the narcicistic generation.

I was unemployed for a bit. Found a job that didn't pay enough and worked until I found another that turned out to be the job from Hell. I almost cried every day while driving to work but stuck it out for 5 months without calling off until I found a job I love. I was blessed that my new boss actually preferred older workers because they are reliable, less likely to play on their phones while working, more accepting of constructive criticism, don't usually collapse under pressure and would never even consider asking for a mental health day! Older workers know how to work hard, don't need constant affirmation and have enough life & work experience to handle most unusual situations.

This is a stupid argument. The young replace the old. If the previous generations dont set the younger up for success, it is the failure of the older, and all generations suffer.
The older generations have continually driven civilization into the ground. Who is more to blame, the generation that failed to build a system that lasts and failed to mentor their own youth, or the generation that recognizes that the system is a failed one?
Younger generations should prepare for the collapse and rebirth of civilization rather than keep failing as our forefathers and mothers have. Good luck all. Maybe think of how to not support the system of exploitation and debt slavery anymore. Maybe quit the identity politics of the globalists, that our forebarers created and realize we're all in the shit together.

Youth is venerated by marketing agencies in most advertisement for one primary reason. The young are more likely to spend less wisely, and therefore have more available disposable income. This trickles down to a general distorted perception in society. This btw is unique to western culture, where newer is always perceived as better. This idea has lead us to become a more and more vacuous society. Most now value characters, as opposed to having character. The Kardashians being famous for no reason is a prime symptom.

It’s about healthcare premiums that companies are having to pay to carry insurance for their employees. If you keep the risk pool at a younger average age, you can reduce the cost of these premiums. Additionally, there are high level executives who are dead weight and they will not retire and they’re never fired or laid off because they’re locked into the buddy system. They have friends that are doing the same and they are all protecting each other. The lowest common denominator is the low level employee and they are being compromised.

Age discrimination also comes into play when it comes to just being friends. The sad truth is, no one under 20..or 30..or 40 (pick your favorite number, doesnt matter) wants to have anything to do with anyone outside of their immediate peer circle. They feel they dont have anything in commmon; they dont fit in, they dont belong.
But the reality is, thats not how society works. When you go out into the world, you will find that a community is made up of all different kinds of people, from various backgrounds, ages, races, etc.
If we are to survive in this life, we all need to learn to work together and help one another. If we approached civilization as we did personal relationships, society would be strictly segregated into countless groups, each with a common thread and strong divisions keeping us apart. And it will eventually lead to our demise.

Until the issues of age restricted housing is addressed the situation is still going unchecked. What?.... people expect me to feel bad when I see this social experiment...nope. because maybe if this stings enough then maybe people will start to realize that the younger generations have been going through this for a long time. Venice Florida is a prime example. It's a city. Anything for retirees they are all for. Anything for the younger generations including kids they forced out ..... including GameStop lol. So before people are up in arms about age discrimination then make sure all of it is brought to light...not just a small part. One on the video said it best. Discrimination is discrimination regardless of age. Well said!

My question- why would you want to live in a community where the majority of people are retirees?? There are PLENTY of areas in Florida that are skewed towards families or singles including division by generations. I’m sure you can find the perfect area that will cater to your preferences. Let us older people have a few things that are just for us.

The work place doesn't tell the young 20 year olds to be mean and nasty but they reward all of them a lot more than the people that are older than 40. So in a since they are telling them to be ugly towards us and mistreat us! So how would they feel if they had to deal with being bullied and played tricks on, on a daily basis! These girls were all new coming out of a new class/ just graduated and we're making more money than me and I had never gotten really much of a raise! At the end trying to get a review of how I was doing and the girls were all so mean and constantly on their phones playing games watching movies going outside on breaks a lot and were acknowledged in meetings, where was i in the back and invisible when I was working I was the one that was running to get the call lights! CNA work is one of the hardest, backstabbing jobs out there! And the bosses could careless about a person who's trying harder to, to help make life better! 😳Yes, anyone would be angry with a situation like that.!!!😡☹ making not even close enough to live on and have thought about going some where people are making 15 or 20 dollars and don't even work that hard! Life was not meant to be slaved for other people benefits and making the same amount of money with in 25 year's is not okay!

Blanche Konieczka ~ I did leave last June and the 5 star's thing that's on line when you look at there website went from 4 1/2 stars to 1 1/2 stars! It's awful and some of the residents that had been there were leaving before I left but I really loved them and they loved me! I took care of them like they were my grandmas and grandpa's! I actually knew a handful of them from church and from when I was in middle/ Jr. High school and Elementary School. So they were very close to my heart and the bosses seem to only care about their paychecks and getting home to their parties or get togethers! Once years before we had two bosses that were at the same place but they left because of how they were being treated. Those bosses we had were caring and cared about the nurses and CNA's and they would come in, in the middle of the night to help do the CNA work or nurses jobs but the new bosses would not even answer their phone's! I should have reported them but everyone knows everyone in town so I didn't want to go down that road. One of my friends that's an RN had a job for me but I broke my left foot in two places and it took a long time to heal and I'm still limping to this day. I love people but dislike drama from any age person like I was dealing with! Yes I'm trying to do my own P.T. by myself to strengthen my foot! I'm telling everyone if you know you've broken any bones in your foot then get to the doctor or hospital right away don't listen to anyone. I had to go 7 weeks with the broken bones and no one was listening to me till I got ex-rays on my foot. Going to a podiatrist is much cheaper than a hospital and they can tell you what you need. Thank you for caring.

I was often close to tears when I had to cook and serve tiny portions of substandard food. My new job is cooking at Little Sisters of the Poor where their motto is "Making the residents happy". They really live by this motto and I've never loved a job more. I'll pray for your foot to heal and for you to find a job you love and where you're appreciated. You deserve the best!

I don't like saying anything bad about a place but they were going down hill but after I left I kept seeing notifications that they were hiring all the time like they couldn't keep cna's. It's just to bad because my mom's friends and my friends that all work either in the hospital or doctor offices and so people I don't know all said that the assistant living company's I are all going down hill. They don't treat their better employees good and don't care about what may what to them at work. I need some type of job where I can sit down and also be able to get up. Maybe a computer job! It’s ironic our entire civilization from the books we read like Chaucer to Bacon to Aristotle to Jane Austin were prepared by individuals who had decades of experience.
What ageism is about is simply employers looking to hire cheaper and cheaper staff in a concerted race to the bottom.
Uber destroyed the Taxi industry taking full time work for people of different backgrounds and turning it into gig work with no stability and benefits. All of the business risk is shifted to the drivers.
How does it feel that every worker has been turned into a commodity? We are no more than cogs in a machine.
The reason I referenced some greats in civilization is simple. People don’t get worse with age they get better.

Conversely, younger generations typically are self-entitled, haven't been taught communication - their to tuned in to their phones, and many have no work ethic.
