- The London retailer A.W. Gamage sold toy steam and hot air engines by the German maker Ernst Plank in the early 1900s. This engine Gamage dubbed the "Defiance"; Plank described the engine as "extra strong model...especially suitable to drive shop window displays." Base is 38.5 cm (15 in.) long, 20 cm (7 7/8 in.) wide. Overall height is 37 cm (14.5 in.) with a flywheel that is 13.5 cm (5.3 in.) diameter.
