- **This video is a re-release to fix the audio issue with the original. The original upload was one of my first, and the background music was too loud. Hope this helps.**
Service of the Mavic freehub should be done a few times a year to ensure the freehub works smoothly. I was getting a grinding noise in the rear wheel area. At first I thought it was the brakes, but it was the Mavic freehub. I will show you how to fix this issue.

Thanks for info Scott!
I have a set of Mavic Ksyriym SLR’s and this is the second time this has happened. Riding the bike and a loud grinding noise from rear wheel it’s not constant but loud and annoying. I’ve had campy wheel sets that never need maintenance. The first time this happened I brought to bike shop and they said the pawls needed to be replaced and it took 2months to get part from overseas. I guess Mavic isn’t much help on parts
Great job and I was able to hear everything 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for taking the music off.
If you don't know how to take the wheel off, you shouldn't be here 🤣
just being honest
Nice. 😎❤️🇹🇼‼️
Thanks! 😃
Is the brake fluid oil you used the shimano brake fluid or automotive brake fluid? Do you think it would be a bad idea to give tri flow a shot? Thanks.
I have no idea. The oil I used is a very light almost a clear like oil so if that helps at all...that's your judgment..your call
@@scottrider7271 thanks for the response. I just used tri flow. It's also very light oil, it seemed to have done the trick. We will see how long it lasts. Probably will pick up some shimano brake mineral oil anyway.
When it squeal? Does it vibrate too? Mine is vibrating and I can feel it on my whole rear wheel
Brakes need to be what they call toed in ...where the front part of the brake hits the rim first. This doesn't have to be a lot like we're talking like a millimeter. If you still have squealing make sure there's nothing on the rim that's causing it to grab ..clean them properly. Also maybe different brake pads would help too.
Vibration can also come from them not being centered properly.... One side touches before the other
Only happens when I'm free wheeling. My free hub squeals and it vibrates so much. Thanks for your reply bro
I thought you were talking about brakes.. yeah it sounds like the free hub... know what you mean. If you are peddling the Freewheel isn't rotating.. it is ok... Sounds like it's your free hub. The seal in mine was okay I didn't have to replace it if yours is really run down you might have to replace the seal part ... Apparently it's a common problem but a little light oil fixed mine and it's been running that way for a year
Yes, it sounds like a duck being strangled. 🤣
is it normal to have a little play on the free hub body?
Yeah a little play on a mavic pretty normal ...as long as it doesn't flip gears you should be fine
