the thing is supercell tried to nerf hero charges ( that firespitter thing can target healers behind the hero and townhall has longer range meaning it can also throw like one or two rocks towards the healers, warden charges might still be fine against all these tho) Although i don't think air attacks will be as meta, all these changes with the th having lot less dps, removal of th poison and new op thrower troop make those easier to execute ground based smash attacks all the more powerful than before, making th17 easier than before
And tbh it's gonna make the game more spammy and less skills, charges have literally shaped war attacks for more than 10 years. It requires basic understanding of funneling and a bit of mastery, although you can still charge th16 below, the environment of attacks for th17 would be significantly different. I say spam since it's more likely heading to smash attacks now.
I like the separation of the TH with the explosion. It de-concentrates defensive power over the base, widening offensive composition possibilities. Unfortunately I dislike that overall it's going to be easier because: 1. The th16 weapon was replaced by a weaker one. 2. There's no poison effect after the th destruction. 3. The new defense doesn't seem to make up for the loss in dps of the TH. I don't care for the removal of the Eagle. It barely does anything. It's mostly there to take out your healers and your clean-up when u failed an attack.
This probably is the language of a spammer. One who does queen/warden charges never ignores eagle , that thing can kill your heroes through ability sometimes.
It was fun learning how armies work instead of just mindlessly placing troops to get an easy 3. Kinda defeats the fun if you know everything will work without any effort/practice. Just keep general air or ground approach and wow another 3, amazing…

Shock these sneak peeks are disappointing. First, the eagle is not being merged, it’s being deleted and replaced with a multi lava launcher on the rooftop. Second, the new hero looks absolutely stupid. I almost prefer the little prince from CR than a naked minion with a cape. I’ve played this game for nearly 10 years, is it me or is SC trying to make this game easy enough for a 3rd grader?!? I hope I’m wrong and maybe there is something fun about this update I’m overlooking.
Totally agree with your takes here, I will say I think th17 will be equivalent to th16 in terms of difficulty as the giga bomb is now a lot more damage than the old one, but where you say the artillery is really weak and the loss of the poison is huge, I actually used to agree but after thinking about it I think it's really hard to tell as of now. You're comparing the two townhalls apples to apples, when really they are super different defenses. I think th16 attack doctrine was either get the townhall by a high value accessory or end on it. Such as using rc for th or using overgrowth to make it the last building standing. For th17 I think base building will change so that the townhall is heavily protected in the center so that it reaches it value. The giga inferno and poison were super insane and always got tons of value in bad attacks. I think the new weapon if placed correctly will get good value even in good attacks.
i had the exact same thoughts regarding hydra. also noticed warden walk FB strats received no buffs other than new hero levels so it may lower the clear rate by a tiny bit
You didn't take into account the real signature defense being the grand warden in wars causing disconnects on engaging. It's so overpowered that it's capable of defending against a maxed TH17 player as a fresh TH11 (if the max player immediately engages the warden with a single hero or few troops).
Agree with your takeaway, I wish at 5500+ hardmode would activate in LL, and something about wars being a constant draws. However, outside of that I enjoyed TH16.

Air defence having 2 Supercharges that add DPS + a new air sweeper level that blows back 1 tile further might be enough to balance out what other buffs air got. Maybe

The team at supercell is most definitely aware of the balancing issues th16 had and they intend to make th17 harder, so even if they mess it upon release and it ends up being easier, they will probably balance it out later

I thought the same dude for the base building . Buy if u think about it for fireball armies buildings are gonna be spaced out more due to more merging giving space for the new buildings so warden walks with just 2 or 3 of those beasts is gonna be sick
I think, because supercell killed hero charges, clone blimp attacks and hero dive armies are gonna be really really good on th17. I'd still waiting and watch for the pros to max things out day 1 and let us know the details on how they feel the meta will go around. Personally I think that sui lalo would still be the best army at th17 as well.
people do not seem to realize its an active defence now. an active defence that does POISON with more range. imagine trying to fight the townhall without warden ability. and if your funnel goes wrong, your entire army will be poisoned for a long time. super cell is gonna buff it eventually if players find a way to deal with it easily (because no giant bomb means you can clone loon blimp it and about 25 raged bloons are in the core of the base) super cell is just seeing if implementing a defence with ACTIVE POISON would be too op.
The damage from what I've seen seems a bit underwhelming but we haven't really had a good look at it so that's a good point. But for me the scariest part of the town hall is gone now - and the eagle too. Guess we'll have to see, but honestly I would love to be wrong!
it doesnt have active poison, it has fire, which has no slowing effect and no ramping damage, a static 75 dps that doesnt stack when multiple firepits are on the one space...
- Smash army will stronger, just keep freezing the TH or use Overgrowth spell to avoid the damage from the TH.. - Super archer / sup minion clone will be comeback (but we can still stop them with a good base especially the traps placement) - Starting Lalo from the TH is no more problem again because no more explosion and poison from TH, just keep freeze and warden ability. It's so hard to sui hero to the TH (except we use new spell to revive our hero) That's why I am disappointed with this update, the merging totally remove the power of TH and eagle. We will miss the 50 range of the eagle! 😓 We talk about base building, most good bases so far are if the TH and eagle have quite a distance to prevent getting both. If the attacker gets eagle then there is still TH, if the attacker gets TH there is still eagle. That's why if merged makes us think it will be easier.. But hopefully I'm wrong, let's see later 🗿
disagree with you pal, is very easy to sui hero the TH specially now that doent have posion. now you dont have to worry about the eagle so you can funnel your way into the th and you would be just fine. Also other mistake you made, it wont be easier for loons over the th, because now when the th hits your troops it left a posion in every hit, so the th doesnt have a poison after destroying but have little small poison in every hit that can cause damage to troops with low life, like loons, so this could force you to use spells early or to use the ability early... before, loons over the TH was really easy if you used the loons before the 50% because the Th activated basically with the loons over it with no chance to hit the loons. and you used warden ability and rage and you could scape the th... now mechanics will be, use the ability early if not those loons will go down with little poison hits. Using lalo with this update will be a disadvantage, all new defenses cause splash damage that can destroy troops with low life..... welcome to spam city, again. Either way, this game is getting worse and worse, they are turning this strategy game into an infantile game.... son the game will say, for ages between 4 and 9 y.o

Also yes you could use the early spell on th, but if you are using zap Lal, like 7-1 you don't have many spells, we could handle it anyway, but is a disadvantage next to Dragons, titans, RR, S Witches, etc. I use Lalo too, since early days in th9 first hybrid or QW, but i like to switch hits using hogs, or qc super barbarian, skelly donuts lalo, etc... i can spam too but i like to use some brain in my hits, instead of some easy fireball with Sup witches

Im glad they allowed streaks to stay with a draw and the draw is all based on stars..it allowed clans to build up streaks that kept the game interesting
Clash has really stepped up it's game with TH 16 and should be same for TH 17... Really appreciate the transparency of what to expect and WHEN it's gonna drop... I am so ready and prepared with my 3 maxed TH 16 accts
Honestly something like back then when th 15 came out would have been way more fun. Back then it was quite fun to have a hard time 3 staring made those 3 stars more satisfying and fun.

Don’t underestimate the effect that an extra ricochet cannon and multi archer tower will have on defense, they are super strong defenses and very tanky too. Add in tanky and strong fire spitters as well and there is definitely a solid boost to defense. We will see though
Think it's actually 2 Multi Archer Towers. They'll surely make up for the loss of defensive power in the TH and Eagle. The question is how big the defensive gain is. Also looking forward to see how base builders will make TH17 work. Will probably need very decentralized bases. Now TBF, there will be another reveal today, so maybe that makes TH17 look a bit stronger.
I agree/disagree to an extent the new core defense will be pretty solid and I think we might go back into double rage defense meta since the fire spitter does crazy damage with rage and the TH might have a crazy impact under rage spell as well
I actually really like the fact that Supercell wants to stay away from the poison slow down effect that the previous town hall's head This really changes the meta in some ways. I was tired, For years and years we had to deal with poison slow down effect We actually never used to had that at Town Hall 12 or Town Hall's prior to that.
@robmarth2226 Because I'm not a stupid that's why. And because adding new defenses is a general norm of the game. entire meta revolves around Town Hall and what it can do now that Town Hall and it's warm is separated the meta changed so I'm quite happy.

I am very worried about them removing the eagle, also the overgrowth spell is such a gimmick that ruins the game imo

I agree/disagree to an extent the new core defense will be pretty solid and I think we might go back into double rage defense meta since the fire spitter does crazy damage with rage and the TH might have a crazy impact under rage spell as well

I actually really like the fact that Supercell wants to stay away from the poison slow down effect that the previous town hall's head This really changes the meta in some ways. I was tired, For years and years we had to deal with poison slow down effect We actually never used to had that at Town Hall 12 or Town Hall's prior to that.
why don't you complain about scattershots, TH12 and lower don't have it either LOL
@robmarth2226 Because I'm not a stupid that's why. And because adding new defenses is a general norm of the game. entire meta revolves around Town Hall and what it can do now that Town Hall and it's warm is separated the meta changed so I'm quite happy.
