Juan Azytrena was a soldier in an artillery unit from Puerto San Vicente, Castille, Spain sent to the Louisiana territory when it was under Spanish control. He never returned to Spain. He passed away about 1831 after settling in Baton Rouge Parish. I am his 11th generation grandson. In 1789, he married Nancy Ann Lanier (born in Georgia in 1773) in St. Helena, Louisiana. Had he already left the military? Was he trekking around Louisiana territory in the late 18th Century as you're doing in this video? Although I come by way of his daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter, their husbands were trekking around Louisiana, and then Texas, into the late 19th century. I find this absolutely fascinating.
