Thank you. Great video. You were great at providing so much helpful information. I think I’m gonna make my own cardigan and probably copy yours exactly! Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video! I’m so impressed with your beautiful projects especially with all the “first time trying this “you took on. I’m inspired to take on the Yell now and feel much more confident. Once again thank you and I look forward to seeing your next project😊
Thank you for a very informative podcast. I have just purchased the yarn to knit Yell. I have just subscribed, looking forward to more podcasts. ☘( Ireland).
Hi Ella, I absolutely love your Yell! I have been knitting mine and your tips are so very helpful, I also love the colors you chose! I went with the original because i wasn't brave enough to make any changes. Bravo!
I too am very excited about your podcast that I happened to come across when looking up the Yell Cardigan. And what a delite it was to follow you and your pleasant personality. Looking very much forward to your next Episode 😃
Thanks for such a great video! Yell has been on my list for a few years and I’ve been trying to get up the courage to do it! I appreciate you sharing so many details on how you modified the pattern, I was also planning on backing the “button band” somehow and you did it beautifully! ❤
I am super excited and glad that the button band part helped you🫶🏻 Yell was my list for a while too! Because it can look overwhelming. I hope you start your Yell soon👍🏻
Absolutely the most beautiful sweater I’ve EVER seen. Wish I was an excellent knitter. I’d have a breakdown if I took in that project! I’m wondering how much the supplies cost? I spend so much on yarn for my crochet! “ Whoever dies with the most yarn wins!”
Thank you sonmuch for the compliment!! I think I spent under CAD 100 for the whole thing. I can not remember exactly. You might eant to check my Raverly page. Holst garn super soft was used for the whole cardigan. I have details in Raverly. My ID is Wollysoul. Check it out~
Thank you for your very informative podcast!! Stunning choices of colors and projects!! Keep them coming, you do an outstanding job in front of the camera. Yeah for courage❤❤
Thank you so much. Your colors are amazing. I will knit this, starting in January and will also use Holst supersoft. Have a lot, but have to figure out what colors to use. Smiles from Norway
Thanks so much Ella for your informative video on making the Yell Cardigan. I bought the Shetland book by Marie Wallin a few years ago, and the Yell was my favorite! Have been collecting yarn for it, but I'm afraid to start it. Your review of your experience in knitting it has been very helpful and encouraging! I really love the purple color scheme you choose. Blues are the colors I plan to use. You have given me more confidence that I can make the Yell also! Thank you again for your encouragement! Love your Pressed Flower Shawl too!🦋🌺
Aww. You made my day!! Thank you so much for leaving this lovely comment here. 🫶🏻🫶🏻 I am super happy that you are confident enough to cast on Yell! Go for it!! Hope your blue version turn out great! 💙💙
Your pressed flower shawl IS beautiful. It’s in my que on Ravelry. Really like that you go over the details of your projects. Looking forward to more content. ❤
Thank you for your review! I plan to knit the yell cardigan as my 30’s birthday knit. I have never done the colourwork sweater before, just some socks. I must try first with the colorwork yoke simply project as you did. By the way- my favourtie colour is also purple!! I was sure that I will use the original wool and colour combo, but now I have doubts 😅
You are so welcome! Happy to hear that u have a plan to make Yell. I really enjoyed knitting it and steeking for the first time✂️ It definitely helped me to go to the next level in knitting. Hope you enjoy too💜
Hi Ella, Please could you tell me the colours you used to make the 'Yell' cardigan. I think your colours (mauves) look better than the greys used for the original pattern. Thanks very much. Caroline
Do you use Ravelry? My ID is Wollysoul. You can find my detailed page over there, if not let me know your email address and I will send you all the info. All the yarn used in the yell is from Holst Supersoft. ^^
Stunning cardigan and lovely videos. I adore the colours you chose. Two scary things you mentioned, purling and short rows! May I ask how many rows of each are there? I have been looking for one of Marie’s patterns that I can knit in the round as it will be my first full size stranded knit.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment~ Now, I can't really recall how many there were but not a lot. After all, it was not so bad. I was scared too but I've grown a lot as a knitter after knitting this cardigan! So 100% recommend to you~ I hope you make it too!
@@woollysoul I am very tempted but would you mind if I used your colours? I much prefer them as my favourite colour is purple also. I am a size large I am asuming it would be the first three colours I would need extra of? How much positive ease would you say is built into the pattern? Thanks 😘 I’m in Ontario too.
@@mrsrazmutt I do not mind at all! Go for it if you liked my version. Check my Revelry page because I put in details there with the yarn color information too. I made a small I believe and I got quite a bit of ease. I would say it feels like medium size to me which I love. I bought more balls of the main color on top than the bottom. I have not even used a ball for each color that is used at the bottom. I still have them in my stash. Even the purple and white for the top part, I have left over. If I make it again, I would make the small again but maybe make the arm holes a little bit wider so that I could wear some thick sweaters underneath. Hope this helps you~
@@woollysoul i have been reading on ravelry about this yarn. Lots of people say it is really thin and breaks very easily even after being knitted up. Did you experience any of that when you knitted it or since having worn it? Did the oil in it bother you? Makes me a little nervous as I am a tight kniter. Thanks
@@mrsrazmutt I have heart about the spinning oil before I bought them but ai had no issues when knitting it. I had no issue of them breathing either. Hi again Ella, I've been trying to find Holst outlets in the UK / Europe with, eventually, a bit of success. But Thistledown doesn't seem to be available and am having trouble finding the colours similar to what you used: Old gold 102? Maize, or Pineapple? Parma 021? or damask 020?, Larch 068 or Scarab 071? Sunrise 088? Topaz? or Parma 021? Peony 015, Damazk 020, Rosebud 099 or Princess? Brass 072, Goldcrest 089 or Scarab? Spring 052 or Cool 037, Sage Blue 053 or Topaz?, Cinamon? I've just emailed a distrubutor in Finland - was the nearest I could find. Now I'm just stumped. The colour charts I've found really are not that easy to match with your colours . Not sure why you were purling. I only knitted my YELL in the round. I have also made an episode on knitting my YELL. Barbara Radzevicius Bondi Crafter on UA-cam. I gave also made a few modifications to the pattern, the button band, the hem, and the sleeves

@@woollysoul I made a few modifications. I don't remember doing any purling in my YELL. That said, I have dyslexia and sometimes, well a lot of the time I read the instructions wrong. So no I dont think I did any purling, but Im ok with purling as Im left hand, mirror image cottage knitter (basically, I learnt how to knit garter and purling very easily, which is lucky).
