    You came to Australia today to give us a tutorial on how to do all these noises live. You told us to go to your youtube channel and practice, and now half an hour of practice, I can finally make a Kazoo sound. Thanks for visiting by the way... And go Geelong!

    I finally got it to work after about a hundred tries. I was a little confused about how to do it, as I felt like you weren't very clear on some things. I think a little more detail on how to contort the mouth and use the tongue would have been helpful. But nonetheless, thank you so much for making this tutorial!

    Crucial step, indeed! Thought I was missing something but now I can pull it off. Thanks, Deke! One cool thing I discovered is if you replace your bottom lip with the front of your tongue you can create some subtle tonal/timbral changes as well has hone in some wild vibrato. Keep these coming!

    • @DekeSharon
      @DekeSharon  10 років тому

      THAT'S AWESOME!! For thousands of years people create instruments to support them singing a melody, with more pioneering in vocal sounds happening in the past couple decades than ever before. You might be the first to articulate that sound (if not create it) - a great way to add a different filter sweep to the buzz.

      Deke Sharon I've loved integrating these sounds with my HS group I direct!! We've managed to work in some vocal trumpet into a recent track they recorded with Liquid 5th Productions. Also, just sent and email regarding your post looking for 2 HS groups. My kids and I would be honored to be one of them!! Hope all is well and keep the sounds coming!

    Guitar was off a bit, I think in the attempt to add a distortion affect you make a grunting sound and throw yourself off vocally when then switching to the kind of siren sound you make when you vibrate your teeth against your lips.

      +DJKiller123100 The grunting was intentional - as guitar amp feedback sometimes has sounds in that range. I can do it with a pure distorted tone and complete control as well, it's flexible

    I used to do the Kazoo sound in school, just for fun and the teachers were so annoyed by it that they created a no-humming-today schedule that I had to get signed. No rewardsystem, just to motivate me to stop. Stupid thing is, nobody else got a schedule and I was taught the sound by the classmates, so that was stupid. I use it to imitate annoying Formula one cars btw, when you watch the races on tv (which I suggest you don't) then it sounds like that.

    • @DekeSharon

  • @natalierozean5989
    @natalierozean5989 4 місяці тому

    OMG! I’ve been trying to imitate a violin forever! I have the upright bass down pretty good, but I’m a freak and as a female …I sing bass. So imitating a bass is fun because I resonate naturally. I do have a bass question though, I tend to sing bass using a B…Bummmm Bummm. The B is appropriate sometimes however, when there are really long strokes, it doesn’t have a letter sound at all in front of it. It’s just mmmmm mmmmm, but more sub harmonic. Any suggestions on how to lose the B at the beginning ?

    • @DekeSharon
      @DekeSharon  4 місяці тому

      Try attacking with a “th” for a good stand up acoustic bass sound -“them” (and go right to the resonating “mmm” with no “u” or else you get “thumb”)
