I think my absolute favorite Carmen intro is the one where she goes, "AHHH! I just went five minutes without having an evil thought! Maybe I'm losing my edge!!!"
For me it is when she admitted she bought Girl Scot cookies.

Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego ran for two seasons and 115 episodes, which aired from October 7, 1996 until December 12, 1997. After that, reruns continued to air on PBS's daily schedule until September 25, 1998.

We actually got to see Carmen. Hidden, sure, but still, she was actually there.

The effort the villain actors and actresses put forward was amazing. It felt like theater on TV but interactive. This was the closest we got to the Internet before the Internet.
Lynne Thigpen played the Chief. She passed away in 2003.
And because of that, I'll never be able to get behind a Carmen Sandiego movie. Lynne Thigpen IS The Chief.
The new animated series did have there Acme chief modeled after the game show/ CD deluxe chef Lynne reprised her hole on set for both the Deluxe MPC ports of World and Time Broderbund even used the PBS theme songs in game. I know the first pressing of where in Time Deluxe has the TV theme.
@AvocadoTomato I know. It is very sad that Lynne is no longer with us. But she technically wasn't the actual host, she was the announcer. Kevin was the host, and he's done a lot of work behind the scenes after this show. He was the creative director on Robot Chicken, winning an Emmy for that show. He's also the creator and writer/producer for Cartoon Network's MAD.
Found the Carmen theme I've been looking for.
This makes me feel old. I remember watching this when I was like 3 or 4. The set was epic, same with the theme song.

I think the idea is that after 28 minutes (as perceived by the crew of the Chronoskimmer) the timeline becomes irreversibly damaged. Some kind of delayed ripple effect that would result in nobody remembering the item was stolen in the first place most likely. It's a game show, just have fun.
This was one of my favorite shows as a child.
Man this brings me back...kid shows were much better back then, this particular show had it all...it was exiting, fun, moved fast and held your attention (key for children), boppin’, highly memorable opening sequence (always a plus), AND was even educational (never hurts). To be honest...I can’t understand why this show even went off the air...think of how amazing it would be TODAY 🤯, kids would LOVE it I promise you. Sure, the actors would surely have changed by now, but shows survive this problem all the time...just work it into the plot somehow.
There are quite a few episodes on UA-cam now. I've seen some of them in the past few months. Carmen was caught at least 9 times in Season 1. And at least two times (Episode 56 and Episode 60) the time pilot got all 6 questions correct in the Trail of Time round.

Wow, I completely forgot that this show existed. I was a huge fan of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, I guess Where in Time just never caught on with me.
Consider yourself lucky that you remember this show. The only (very faint) memory I have of this show was the tail end of one episode, and I don't even remember who the villain was, what they stole, or if they caught Carmen in that one.

I dunno, I kinda like the idea of cartoon characters talking to the kids. It was a neat concept. Even if it was the villains, which could easily send all of the wrong messages by having them call kids on the phone...
Also I was sort of pointing out that this version of the intro had more CGI effects.

Their budget didn't go up. The price of CGI came down. :/

@Scottwilkie18 I know that. To be exact it ran from October 7, 1996 to October 2, 1998, although some PBS stations continued to reruns up until 2003.
If PBS did a reboot of this show, they should have Jim Conroy be the host. He was on a PBS Kids game show before. Remember FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman? He has the same level of energy that Kevin has here.

@ACrackInTheWall2006 I've read somewhere that Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego had a small studio audience (probably 30-40 people at most). But my guess is that they didn't have a studio audience, unlike Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, in which the studio audience was big (at least 150-200 people) and you saw them quite a bit in an average episode.

Considering that she just stole for fun in previous versions and the Netflix version is a misunderstood anti-hero, this Carmen Sandiego is pretty evil!
On PBS she was generally straight up V.I.L.E. as she was in the 1985-1993 games. It was only on Fox, the computer games made beginning in 1994 and the Netflix series that she was more anti-heroic.
Mommajudecj, that footage of WITICS Season 2 is the one when Sir Vile stole Jazz. So that's WITICS Season 2 Episode 13, the one when Sir Vile stole jazz. In that episode on the trail of time, time pilot Kevin trapped Sir Vile, but time ran out and Carmen escapes. So on the trail of time in that episode, Kevin got 3 correct answers and 3 incorrect answers.

The playthrough of this gameshow wasn't bad, but the style and execution of it just lacked the sophistication that World had. It wasn't as clever, witty, or funny. I feel this one tried too hard to be EXTREME. It wasn't a bad show, but it just was no where as cool or awesome as World.
World with a live Carmen would certainly be in budget, they chose not to and save that for time

Okay, somebody on a nostalgia trip - and hopefully who has a creative mind - needs to make a Carmen Sandiego feature film, and cast Lana Parrilla as the titular character. Lana as Carmen would be perfect the same way Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is perfect.
So? Lynne was Cheif for both WitWiCS? & WiTiCS?, so she played a more important role, IMO. In fact, she, Carmen, WitWCS? crooks Robocrook, Patty Larceny, & Sarah Nade, and a few WiTiCS? crooks were the only ones to crossover from the game shows to the actual PC games, just like how Zack & Ivy were on the Detective Editions of the PC games before becoming central to the WoEiCS? cartoon.
