I’d definitely prefer to have a floor monitor, but the house speakers are mounted on the wall behind me and two more in the back of the bar so I can hear myself loud and clear, so I guess it’s not really necessary at this place..
Fun watching you from gig 1 through the next few. How long are your sets and breaks? I’m in the same position as you - bands for years but just starting the solo acoustic gigs… 🤙
Thanks for watching! My gig is from 7-10.. I don’t really watch the clock, and I usually go over by about 30 mins every gig if I’m having fun and people are enjoying it.. I’d say a 15 min break feels comfortable, You also don’t want people to leave, so I’m afraid If I stop for too long you might lose some people or good tippers.. I’m sure different venues may have strict times, but this place I play is laid back and I kinda just feel it out.. If you’ve got a 3 hr gig, I’d plan for 3 45-50 mins sets with 10-15min breaks in between sets.. I usually start off with more laid back tunes while people are eating dinner in the first hour and then by the end of the night after everyone has had a few drinks, bring out the harder stuff and the big sing along tunes, and just drive it home.. Usually around then when everyone has had a few drinks you might start seeing $10s and $20s in your tip jar.. As you know, when you’ve got a full band and a tip jar, you might walk away with a few bucks at the end of the night after splitting it 3 or 4 ways.. But solo, man sometimes I’m walking away with $100-$150 in just tips alone in addition to my regular pay.. It’s a pretty sweet deal. Good luck and let me know how it goes for you!
Great job man! Got me the itch to gig again thanks for the inspiration!
👍 Great inspiration! Thx
(No stage floor monitor ?)
